Thursday morning I woke up to a sore/ scratchy throat. I figured it was from sleeping with my hair a little wet and having the fan on the night before and would go away later in the day. It never went away and continued. Friday was the same thing my throat felt to itchy and irritated I would keep coughing. Friday night it felt gross to swallow my saliva. Saturday it was the same thing so I looked in my mouth and noticed my tonsils were swollen.
So recently i had oral sex with my partner and like a day later I developed a cough. I've been coughing for about a week but today I noticed that my tonsils are swollen and i noticed 1 white spot on one of my tonsils. I got tonsilitus (sorry don't know how to spell that) when i was 16 and ever since then when i get sick my tonsils are the first thing to act up. They swell up and they hurt. This time they don't hurt but they are swollen.
Okay, so here's the story. For the past month I've had swollen tonsils with white pieces of mucous or whatever and they tend to break off and they're not that great tasting. I've also had horrible breath and a slight sore throat. So i go to the doctor and he tells me it's strep so he gave me an antibiotic. I've known that it's not strep and the doctor was stupid.
Well that's a relief. The doctors had told me that it looked like tonsillitis and prescribed me penicillin, also for an ear infection I have; she also took a swab of my throat to see is it was the streptococcus infection (strep throat) but I did not get told when the results would be back.
I also have swollen gums. Maybe that may have something to do with it? what could this be? Should I take this seriously?
Hi, brief introduction; 1-2 weeks ago I developed swollen tonsils with no other symptoms but sore throat, swollen lymph nodes in the neck and basically that was about it. Last week I visited the otolaryngologist and he said it didn`t looked that bad, so he gave me a shot of betamethasone and I've been on clarithromycin for about a week with not much of improvement. Like 3-4 days ago, I've developed White spots in the tonsils and blood mixed with mucus down the back of my throat.
over the past three days, i have had my toung hurt when i eat spicey foods or things like that (ie, Oranges, ketchup) I have notice that my tonsils were a bit swollen and had been keeping an eye on my lymph nodes by the jaw. Then one night I went to bed after eating spicey chips and three dangling tumors appeared in the morning. Is this cancer? Can they appear like that over night? I know they werent there in the previous day. or i would have noticed these bigger dangling sacs? any ideas?
So i had strep thoat and finished taking my course of pencillin vk about a week ago, and my tonsils still havent gone down, and my lymphnodes are still swollen, admittedly i have been putting my finger in my throat to feel my tonsils and they are still pretty big, the white stuffs gone off them but they're still big. When can i expect them to go cause this is driving me nuts, also my tongue sometimes has a thin layer of whiteish colored stuff that brushes off, is this normal?
It has gotten bad enough now that my throat feels closed off and when you look inside my mouth you can clearly see there is not much space between tonsils and my uvula is rubbing one of them.THe tonsils appear to be slighty red but other than that they do not appear to have spots or white anything on them. I have begun having problems sleeping as a result of this. I have no health insurance, in this day and age it is too hard to get it. I want to know what the problem could be.

I had my tonsils taken out when I ws five because of constant tonsillitis I also suffered from sleep appnear but if your tonsils are swollen it may suggest that something is not right somewhere else in the body years after having my tonsils out I was told I had celiacs which affects ur small intestine not saying that it's celiacs there just might somewhere else in ur body that's not okay.
I have bumps in my throat behind my uvula, my uvula seems a little red as does the palate around it. Both sides of my throat by the uvula are swollen and I don't know if my tonsils are swollen or not but it looks as if so. There is a bit of white patches on both sides of throat by uvula. Also my tongue is always dry! I don't know exactly what's wrong. Anyone have any idea?
It got rid of the infection, but then right after my tonsils from inside my throat was swollen and was taking Prednisone. It went away. I felt better and now I have it again. A bacteria on my tonsils and I found out I am getting it from my filthy fan. This time the doctor gave me Clindamycin. Which I am sceptical because when I took Amoxicillin it was 1 a day pill for a week and as soon as i took it the bacteria was going away.
I had strep throat about 2 weeks ago and they put me on antibiotics. I got better, but now my tonsils are swollen with white pus on them. They aren't sore at all. They are just swollen again and I don't know why. If any of you know, please let me know!!!
I returned to my hometown and went to primecare on a weekend due to an unrelated sports injury and asked the doctor to look at my throat as well in October. He gave antibiotics to help with my swollen, red tonsils, which at this point, the left side was more swollen that the right side. I Was told it could be an abscess in the tonsil and was referred to an ENT who told me that there was nothing he could do about my throat and it should go down with time.
Hi... I've had swollen tonsils since around.. March 16th. I went to a walk in clinic and they swabbed me for strep. I didn't have it. I then went to my family doctor on march 27th, and he said it was a viral infection and i had to let it take its course. He gave me some mouth wash that was supposed to take down the swelling but it didn't work. It's now may 19th, and my tonsils are STILL swollen. I'm very scared, and I don't know what could be causing it.
I thought I had strep because I present many similar symptoms, including white stuff on my swollen tonsils. I have oral to a new guy about a week ago or less and these symptoms shows up a few days ago. All symptoms are:
swollen throat/lymph node
Occasional fever
Body aches
Nausea
Hurts to swallow or talk
Also would like to note I tested negative for strep and mono. Went to the ER this morning I was in so much pain.
i checked in the mirror this morning and there is a large swollen lump that hurts when i poke it, swallow, eat, or anything. it doesn't hurt to breathe, or restrict air flow in any way.
my questions are this:
What could it be?
Should i see a doctor? (no insurance/ very little money. would like to only if it's vital)
Is there anything i can do at home to help it go away?
