You can apply a cold pack to the lip to reduce injury from the swelling. If it is not swelling anymore, no cold pack is advised. After the initial swelling, applying cold is not advised because it will reduce the blood flow to the area and slow healing. It is also important that you rest the lip. Hi, My upper lip from the middle and lower lip from the side always has some small bits of skin hanging there and after a certain time I have to remove them by peeling off. I think from that my upper and lower lip are swollen all the time. If someone looks at my upper lip it seems as if I have an injury there . I allply Vaseline every other night and it's effect is only in day but after sometime the lips get dry again. This has been happening from a long time (3-4) years.
The next day or so, they began to burst and turned to the appearance of a non-serious injury (like that of a bruise) in appearance, and pained me like an injury does.
Since yesterday, my upper lip has been healing, as it produces not little liquid similar to that of an injury anymore. It is now sealed up but appears like a healing injury.
As for my sore throat, I hadn't felt nor now feel it at all while eating (like it doesn't exist).
Without trying to look too stupid here I'll Just say I punctured my lip. My questions is, is it normal for a lip to become really swollen from a puncture, I can't find anything on it and while it has gotten much smaller it's freaking me out. It is currently my profile picture. Any thoughts?

It was about 9 hours ago. Immediately after the injury there was a lot of blood coming from my nose. I went to the emergency room at a nearby hospital and they just gave me an ice pack.
What I didn't notice at the time was that the side of my face that got hit was numb at some parts. I can not really feel the right half of my lips and some of the teeth there (when brushing). My cheeks seem okay, a little numb too.
I also have a black eye now (the blood has pooled I guess).
It did not have the tingling sensation that normally proceeds a cold sore, and feels sore- more like a mouth injury (like I bit my lip). Also looks different, not like a liquid-filled blister but more swollen, and with little white spots/bumps. I also have a few little white bumps on my upper lip - directly above it.
I am with the same partner for 5 years, so I do not believe whatever it is, is sexually transmitted.
2 days before being diagnosed with dengue I noticed a couple of my inguinal lymph node swelled up. After a week I was discharged from the hospital as my platelet count improved. Then I developed a rash over my body, the rash was itchy and went away in 4 days.During the rash period I could feel my other lymph nodes. These lymph nodes became normal after the rash went away.
I got the FNAC done for swollen inguinal lymph node n the result came out reactive (follicular hyperplasia).
My boyfriends dog bust my lip earlier and it bled for about 15 mins and swelled up, the cut is quite deep and gaping but I'm not sure if it needs stitches or not. I'm 45, my top lip gets dry for a few days then a tiny bump shows up, then my lip swells pretty big, for a few days mostly at night. swelling subsides a little during the day has a tingling in it after several days my lip cracks and drains this happens a few times a year. All together from beginning to end it lasts about 2 weeks.
He just had to get a shot last week b/c he had sores all over his belly from biting and scratching. Now he has a fat bottom lip. He had the same thing in February, got a shot and it went away. I read that fish based foods can cause allergies. He only eats chicken flavored food but I had just given him a salmon flavored treat a day or so before the lip flare up. Anyway, I know that the vet will not want to give him another steroid shot so soon after the other one.
It got cut on my braces from the inside, and it swelled but went down and within a few days it looked normal again. This happened around over a week ago. A few days ago i discovered a lump about the size of a pencil eraser inside the spot where it got hit. Not the inner lower lip, I mean actually INSIDE it. I bite my lips really often, but I havent been biting on that spot. I think it might have gotten smaller, but could this be a tumor???
I'm not even sure if it is a cold sore. I've got abreva and I've tried it on the part of my lip that burns but it does not help. I'm fairly certain the burning is from a nerve injury. My boyfriend already knows about all this. I just don't want to infect him if it is a cold sore, which I don't think it is.
He did not have any oral contact on me otherwise. This morning, he called to tell me he has a swollen lip. He said that yesterday he had 3 small pimples just below his lip where the small patch of hair used to be (he shaved the hair off a few days ago because the pimples were there). The tissues are just irritated and swollen from the physical activity and it should go down on its own in a day or so. I've had that happen a couple times myself and it's no fun at all to be constantly aware of your swollen parts! Do what you'd do for any kind of injury that swells. Take some advil and try applying a cool cloth for about 15 minutes every so often, and give your parts a rest until it goes down.
