I have recently noticed due to stress and anxiety of thinking I have contracted hsv(herpes) inside my mouth that my lower part of gums/jaw under my tongue is swollen. I believe that it looks similar to pictures I have seen of mandibular torus but not so rounded more longish following the bone structure but sticking out a few millimetres. There are two similar growths on either side, the one on the left is slightly larger then the right but almost the same.
The dr there told me i have herpes in my mouth and thats what was causing me to have a fever, headache, swollen lymph nodes and swollen gums and etc. I was shocked since im not sexually active, my doctor suggested i get tested for hiv and gonnorhea since im consider high risk now? my only exposure was the needlepoke which was i was told here not to worry about about it. Should i be worried about hiv? Is my life really over and am i contagious forever?
Hi first of all any symptoms you would have from genital exposure would be in the genital area so you can rule out oral symptoms. If she did not have any lip sores at the time your risk is close to zero that you contracted genital herpes. Really low risk activity.
hello, I contracted HSV1 about 5 months ago. I've been on suppressive therapy with Valtrex since then because I believe (but don't know for sure) that my current partner is HSV1 negative. From time to time I try stopping the Valtrex for a few days and the virus seems to come back in the form of swollen, painful gums (it's not terrible pain but annoying, especially when brushing or flossing).

My mouth was just sore in general with slightly swollen and sore gums, but didn't notice any spots or lesions on the gums or any other part of my mouth besides the throat area. The doctor said that swollen gums may be caused my any viral infection as the body fights off the infection. It sounds like I have no reason to be concerned?
I had protected vaginal and I received unprotected oral sex from a girl who did sex with many men without condom. After 15 days of the encounter she tested for p24 antigen, HIV antibody combo and the result was negative. I tested for HIV antibody (rapid) at 4 weeks and p24 antigen, HIV antibody combo at 7 weeks. Both the results were negative. As I did protected vaginal I'm assuming that I'm not HIV positive.
I had really swollen gums with blisters on them, he said that it was oral herpes, sometime it effects people on their lips as cold sores and for other it effects their gums. My long term girl friend has had cold sores (HSV1) as long as I have known her but does not have HVS2. I just found out about a month and a half ago i had herpes simplex 1 oral and simplex 2 genital, I have a fever blister for the first time and i freaked out plus, i had little spots on my tounge that hurt, and had raw swollen spots on my gums i couldnt eat it hurt so bad, dont freak out and think you have herpes, but did the doctor do a culture test on the places in your mouth?
After the 10days I still had a sore throat that feels like an ulcer down my throat, and I also still had about 10 mouth ulcers as well as swollen gums. I went to my Internal MD and he put me on Medrol dose pack and Levaquin. This initially helped w/ the mouth ulcers but the one down my throat got much worse. I was given a Celestone inj and put on Orapred. Also taking Pepsid. Throat neg for strep and mouth ulcers neg for Herpes. This helped for about 3 days but then the pain has come back.
At the moment, its just in my mouth, so its not genital herpes, but just herpes. I was totally shocked when i heard the word herpes, its an STD? Is there any chance this could be something else? This is the first time I have experienced symptoms like this. My husband and I last had sex 8 days before the symptoms appeared, he is clear, no symptoms, before that it had been six to eight weeks.
My throat is no longer as painful as it was originally, but it is still very painful and colored the same way. Also, the infection has spread to my gums and gums feel smooth to my tongue, are red, black, and white, and are also very painful. Also, two more canker sores have appeared in the last 48 hours. I have an appointment to see my PCM at the beginning of next week. Is there anyway you could shed some light on to what is happening in my mouth?

About a day later, while I was eating ice cream, I poked myself on my upper gums with part of the ice cream and it hurt slightly. The next day my upper gums were extremely swollen on the left side of my mouth. My left neck lymph node also now seemed more swollen and hurt a little when I turned my head. I was terrified at this point because I wasn't sure if the ice cream had caused the gum wound or if the wound was already there and the ice cream touching it made me aware of it.
Are there any other ailments/ infections that is very similar to a primary oral HSV 1 outbreak? Blisters in mouth, on tongue and gums, flu like symptoms, malaise, fever, ect?? Just curious? Anyone?
the left side of the hard palate in my mouth is swollen along the arch of my mouth. today it has spread to my left gums and head. It feels like a shooting pain, and is almost unbearable. I also have a stuffy nose and chest. I cant help but think that this is a sinus infection, and that the pain in my mouth is due to swollen Bollus lymph nodes. but I'm not sure.
Any home remedies for swollen gums? Besides the obvious brush your teeth (which hasn't helped)
On a non pregnancy related note, can someone please explain to me what a regular coffee is?? Is it one milk one sugar? It's been driving me nuts all day.
