Avatar n tn Presence of sugar in blood as in diabetes can cause Streptococcus bacteria to grow rapidly. This can result in swollen glands. Also it may not be canker sores but cold sores caused by Herpes virus. Please talk to your doctor and get tested for the problems mentioned. It is difficult to comment beyond this without examining. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar f tn Hi - I was at the doctor two weeks ago because I had an infection around my wisdom tooth (periodontist I believe it's called). I had this a few years ago so I knew what it was immediately. The doctor put me on amoxicillian and it feels all better. However, about a week ago I started getting a few small sores around the gums on the other side of my mouth. I thought maybe I was just getting canker sores (had these before too).
Avatar m tn So last Monday I found out I had a throat inflection , as days started to pass I've noticed my gums somewhat red and really hard for me to chew because of the pain. About Saturday morning my throat started to feel fine but my gums are still in pain. They're red, swollen, and whitish canker sores on them , any idea on what it can be or what's going on?
Avatar f tn m having reddish brown spotting, swollen gums, bloating and canker sores. Is there any problem?
Avatar f tn My dentist told me it will cause canker sores and swollen gums and be very painful but should clear in 10 to 14 days. He also said it could be I was worn out and with all the stress I am under (divorce, lots of weight loss, and 3am to 9pm job) my body might have been giving me a warning sign with my immune syatem. I dont know what to think. I feel so foolish for not thinking better and not taking my time.
Avatar f tn The first couple of days, I did not have a sore throat. The third day, I developed a sore throat as well as multiple canker sores on my gums and way back near my wisdom teeth. My gums in certain areas are tender and feel blistered and the roof of my mouth has the same feeling as if I burnt it on something hot. I have been using "Kanka" to numb my mouth because it is almost impossible for me to eat, but other than that, I don't know what to do or why this has happened.
Avatar m tn So back in August (its Feb now) I became ill with flu like symptoms (body aches, fever, swollen lymph nodes, canker sores in mouth, swollen gums) and I went to the doctor and they just said that it was a virus and that it would pass, but could possibly be the beginning signs of HIV so I should get tested. Since then my lymph nodes have gone down quite a bit but I can still feel them and I've been getting canker sores probably once or so every other month.
Avatar m tn I am freaking out. Is it anything I should worry about? Or just canker sores. I have been getting canker sores on and off, but I dont think ever one on my gums. Dont know if this is related but for a few days now I have been waking up with a dry throat and somewhat of a dry mouth..I have a slight cough here and there. Thanks Please help.
Avatar f tn How often do you get canker sores? And its a canker sore, not a cold sore right?
Avatar f tn Symtoms dont decide the presence of HIV. A test detects it. Regarding Canker sores, I have 2 canker sores today and they pain like hell. Doesnt mean I have HIV. I get them due to indigesion.
Avatar f tn I had never had any kind of cold sore previously and suffered a wicked outbreak -- fever, chills, swollen glands, swollen gums, countless sores in the genital region that were outrageously painful -- and it lasted well over two weeks. This week I had fever, chills, swollen gums (haven't been able to eat for about three days now), and swollen glands. This feels just like the last outbreak except without the genital "stuff.
Avatar f tn It could be herpes, though unlikely, and I'm curious about if it was swab tested by the person who prescribed the acyclovir? That could have given you the answer you seek. Cold sore virus (HSV 1) doesn't cause canker sores, canker sores are caused by reasons we don't know. HSV 2 infection rarely occurs in the mouth, though it is possible. You wouldn't get new HSV 1 infection since you have it already. It could be canker sores, but they rarely occur in the throat.
Avatar m tn While I have been under a lot of stress lately, it seems a bit too coincedental to have canker sores and swollen lymph nodes at 4 weeks after possible exposure. I guess I'm looking for some insight into risk assessment. Is there any reason to get a test now, or should I wait until the six week mark? Additionally, if I am infected, how much of a risk am I putting other people at if I have protected sex with them?
1170277 tn?1412274753 I'm not sure which category this really falls into but I have been sick since last Thursday. I was running a fever and I have some cold sores on my lips and I have a sore throat. But now, I've developed these little white bumps on the tip of my tongue and my gums are a bit swollen all of a sudden. The white bumps burn and they almost feel like canker sores but I'm not sure if that's what they are. Any advice?
Avatar m tn Almost all of my symptoms have passed except for my sore throat, but now I am developing a large amount of canker sores... I have 4 on my lips, 4 on my gums and 2 on my tongue... my gums are swollen and my tonsils have many white spots on them... i still struggle through eating even ice cream and have lost about 10 pounds (which is not a good thing when you have very little to lose)...
Avatar n tn Are there any other ailments/ infections that is very similar to a primary oral HSV 1 outbreak? Blisters in mouth, on tongue and gums, flu like symptoms, malaise, fever, ect?? Just curious? Anyone?
Avatar m tn Are you perhaps biting your tongue on the same spot, that turns into a canker soar? Are you getting burning sensations on the corner of your lips? When do you feel burning the most, when you wake up in the morning perhaps?
Avatar f tn It could be canker sores, trauma after toothbrush, gingivitis or dental abscess. Strong toothbrush bristles can lead to canker sores. These canker sores usually heal within 8-10 days. You may try home remedies like application of salt and baking soda for at least 3-4 times a day. Avoid extremely hot or cold food and beverages .Mouth rinses will help reduce any swelling and pain in the gums. Eat healthy food and drink plenty of water .If the symptoms are severe seeing a dentist will be helpful.
Avatar f tn Some doctors prescribe mouthwashes that contain tetracycline, an antibiotic, for canker sores. If you get recurrent canker sores, your toothpaste may be the culprit. Try toothpaste that does not contain the detergent sodium lauryl sulfate. This is a detergent that may cause the mucous surfaces in the moth to dry out, leaving them vulnerable to attack from acidic foods. Also, do not use the same toothbrush for longer than one month.
Avatar m tn Since I have read that most always HSV-1 oral sores are on the lips or outside of the mouth, is it likely that the sores on my gums are caused by HSV-2 oral, or are they just chancre sores caused by the trauma to my mouth? I am going to get tested very soon, but I want to know if I may have been unknowingly risking infecting my partners with oral HSV2.
Avatar f tn Canker sores and cold sores are two different things. Canker sores are not viral or bacterial in nature, but usually caused by stress or tissue injury. Cold sores are viral in nature caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV). No, the chicken pox vaccine is for a completely different virus, Varicella Zoster - also a member of the herpes family but not the same as HSV. It would have no impact on cold sores or canker sores.
Avatar m tn I've been running my body down the past few weeks, drinking, no sleep... I had a heavy weekend of drinking last weekend and the day after, on Monday, I had a fever for 2 days, and night sweats, and still have a bit of a cough (it's been only about 5 days since the weekend). On Tuesday, it seemed overnight, I developed typical canker sores in my mouth and a larger irregular red shallow patch on my upper gums, which kind of hurts when I eat.
Avatar m tn From my readings, normal canker sores dont accompany swollen glads unless it is HIV related, and the swollen lymph nodes have been around for a few months. I am horrified. I am getting tested tonight, but I am just curious as to what the likelihood is that Ill get a positive HIV test back in two weeks.
Avatar f tn I realized that I have a canker sore on the front part of my gums above my eye took. You have to lift up my lip to see it, but it really hurts! I've read that only herpes occur on the gums, and I've also read that canker sores can occur anywhere in the mouth! What could it be? The reason why I am concerned with herpes is because my aunt had a cold sore this weekend, and I went to her house for dinner and used her utensils.
