Thank you very much for coming back to me so promptly. It means a lot when I am so worried. The blood test was a standard hospital 'glandular fever' test. My GP said that even if I had glandular fever unless I'd been tested in the first couple of weeks (which I wasn't) the test would be negative.
My GP says he can't authorise a CT/MRI and I'll have to wait to see the CFS specialist to see what he suggests.
In the past 2 days all the lymph nodes in my neck and face are sore and a little swollen. I have a slight fever but none of the other symptoms associated with HIV. I have also been experiencing a discomfort in my stomache and sometimes cramps.
Last week I had a full blood count done which showed up as normal. I also hade a glandular fever test done which also came back as negative but that ive been infected before.
I am terribly stressed and need some advice...please help!
In the US, there is disease called mononucliosis, glandular fever here in Australia, it is entirely possible you have caught this. Glandular fever is also called The Kissing Disease, as carriers dont know they have it. Swollen lymph glands in your neck, groin and under arms are a symptom. A simple blodd test will answer you question.
This lasted until at least the 5th august. I was tired, had headaches, swollen glands and fever. I assumed it was Glandular Fever but tested negative.
After a few trips to the doctors and the hospital the doctor assumed do to my high levels of infection in blood that it was most likely a bacterial infection of an unknown cause so I was prescribed antibiotics. After a couple of days on antibiotics my fever and headaches went away although I was still tired for a few days.
I went to see my doctor in mid Nov and she ordered a blood test to check for glandular fever right away.. i thought this seemed ridiculous as i felt completely fine apart from the irritated throat but i went ahead and got the test done. Between the time of the test and getting the results back i started to feel really weird and i knew something was wrong. I became dizzy and off balance, very tired and anxious.
Hi, for the last ten years or so I have suffered with swelling of my lymph nodes in my neck, since having glandular fever, I suffer from frequent infections, constantly ill and have severe fatigue, my glands make me feel so lifeless, also have constant ache in the neck! My mom is experiencing odd symptoms. She has swollen glands in the neck and cheek and inner ear pain or the left side of her face. She also has pain on the left side of her face and the left side of her tongue running down her throat. When she touches it, it prickles, like there should be an open cut there. There are swollen bumps on the highest part of her cheek bone. Her glands, ear, tongue, and lip hurt the worst after eating or drinking. Any idea what could be causing this?
Since you have sore throat and swollen lymph nodes, you could be having glandular fever, or pharyngitis. The blisters could also be causing the infection and inflammation which can result in swollen glands. Please consult your PCP at the earliest.

Because your symptoms came on very quickly, makes me wonder you if in fact you have glandular fever. Anyone can get glandular fever by kissing a carrier. This is a virus and needs to run its course.
If you do find that your throat starts to close up and you have difficulty breathing, seek medical attention immediately. My son had mono and was extremely ill had difficulty breathing and his throat was covered with white plaques.
ve had a few strep throats during my life so I figured that was it. My glands were fairly swollen too. Anyway she prescribed me Calvepen, which she said is pure penicillin. On Tuesday, I went to my own Doc (a different one) who prescribed me clavamel (apparently it's penicillin based). Anyway I took Tues and Wed off work, and went back in on thursday.
My friend who is a medical student mentioned that symptoms for mono are often confused with the symptoms of HIV where your tonsils and glands get swollen and you have high fever. My boyfriend and I used protection every time and did not have any condom failure either. However, we were not overly careful being intimate. I cant get tested before another 2 months anyways. Do you think I have anything to worry about??
docs have put it down.to glandular fever..she doesnt have anything else wrong no swollen glands no sore throat no fever...she also only weighs 3 stone 2.lbs....on a few.nights her temp has been around 34 but she was drenched in sweat ( its about 1 degree at.night here in ireland ) when.i say.drenched her clothes had wet.patches and her hair was soaked...yesterday complained it was hard to breathe but thats it....any ideas what I should do ? thanks oh and when she sweated even her legs were wet ?
i assume swollen glands in the neck means inflamed lymph nodes? our 6 yr. old was seen today for a fever and sore throat complaint. the ped. said she has a throat infection and swollen glands and prescribed meds. she did check other areas of her body for glands (at least that is what i think she was feeling for). about 7 weeks ago she had the same thing (tho the whole family passed around a fever/infection). should we be overly concerned that she has been sick like this twice in two months?
I had some blood tests done Last week which showed a slight leukopenia (0.9) and neutropenia (3.5) but no atypical lymphocytisis. EBV (glandular fever) antibodies were positive to Igm but not igG.

the doctor felt my glands which she thought was either tonsilitis or glandular fever( it would be impossible for me to have tonsilitis as i got them out at a child, she was shocked becuase my glands were that swollen) she did a throat swab and put me on penacilin for my throat infection and a high dostage of headache tablets.
I was diagnosed with CFS a few years ago and had glandular fever when I was 19 (am 48 now) but have had bouts of feeling flu like and general fatigue over the years. I have had a consistant sore throat, bit of ear pain, swollen glands and jaw ache, plus sharp pain in jaw when trying to eat, for over a month now. Dr gave me antibiotics but it hasn't helped. Has anyone else experienced this please?

Was wondering if anyone had any idea on the following.
After months of feeling worn down and having really bad joint pain and muscle weakness, I went to the doctors, who ran a load of blood tests, and found "reactivated form of glandular fever" and very very slightly elevated white cell count. She said I must have had the EBV at some point. The only thing I can remember is about 6 months before, having a very sore throat and high temperature but only for about week.
Hi im 23 and went to the doctors for a lump on my testicle Which I’ve had since I was 14 when I may of had glandular fever. I had bloods taken and had a ultrasound scan. I received my test results today. The doctor has said there is 3 4mm cysts so no need for further treatment but i’ve Had constant swollen neck glands (hard lumps) for 6 months and also flare ups in the groin and under arm. I get occasional night sweats and sweat a lot throughout the day.
hi, i got a sore throat about 2 months ago, the doctor diagnosed tonsilitis, and put me on calvepen, this got rid of the fever symptons but my glands stayed swollen an my throat stayed red, when the fever came back a few weeks later i went back and he put me on augmenten, this had the same effect i went back last week and was put back on calvepen and he did a mono test which came back negative, but said my white blood cell count was high and it looked like i was at the tale end of a virus, somed
Hello went to see my Endo yesterday who has scheduled me in for a FNA biopsy today. He explained about the process and how it works and success rates etc.
