Avatar m tn Hello Bluelegato, Welcome to MedHelp's Pain Management Community. Thank you for providing good detail on your symptoms. I am sorry to hear that you are having pain issues at such a young age. My heart goes out to you. Certainly if your PCP cannot come up with a diagnosis...we probably can't. :o) However our members are great at offering suggestions and information. The large amount of swelling says something!! There has to be a reason for it. If your PCP cannot find a cause..
Avatar n tn Hello, These symptoms can be due to blood blister, Gram negative toe web infection, Cellulitis or Gout. Gout causes swelling and pain in the feet along with red, swollen big toe that hurts when anything touches it. You need to get it examined from a doctor to confirm the diagnosis. The fluid from the blisters may be sent for microscopic examination.
Avatar f tn At first the doctors x-rayed it and came back normal, then I had a ultrasound done to check for blood clots. Then they diagnosed me with Gout, but tested me for it and it was also negative. The swelling went away about 4 months ago, but in the last month it has gotten swollen again, very painful. To describe the pain is like someone stepping on the top of your foot, but never getting off. Now the swelling seems to be top of foot, toes, ankle and the pain radiates through my leg.
Avatar f tn About a week ago I was hospitlaized for chest pains and swollen ankles. I had an echo and a cardio cath done to see if there were any blockages. To my surprise there was no blockages. the doctors placed me on meds for hypertention and gave me a water pill, I do not have the pain in my chest anymore but I still have the swelling in my ankles and it seems to be getting worse what could be going on?

Avatar f tn My mom n law has the same problem only her ankles and feet are affected too. The Dr's told her it was a form of gout and there really is nothing to do except for diuretics. She also takes lasix a pretty high dose and she does not get any relief from it either.
Avatar f tn I just noticed yesterday that my left ankle is slightly swollen. I didn't injure it that I know of and no obvious bites. It doesn't hurt either. Last week I was running on my treadmill (I am not a runner, just got the treadmill) and had to stop because my calf started hurting pretty bad. It took several days to go away, it is still slightly tender. (It came back for a little while when I was running with my dogs). I figured I just pulled a muscle or something.
162069 tn?1224677411 I have Raynaud's and am female and also have gout. It went undiagnosed for many years as it is always thought it happens in men and it is always the big toe. I was told by the diagnosing doctor that it happens in women too and often affects the mid foot area and mid hand areas. I am not a diagnostician but I would say it would be worth having your uric acid level checked. If it is elevated and your doctor agrees then a trial of something like allopuronol might be in order.
Avatar m tn woke up this morning with swollen, burning feet, the pain is going up the legs to the hips...
Avatar n tn s been working 10 hour shifts doing strenuous work and is standing up the whole time. This past September, he noticed he had extreme pain on his right knee, and it was swollen/inflamed. After going to his general physician, he was diagnosed with gout. His doctor prescribed him with Allopurinol 100mg, and he had to take one tablet a day, twice a day. Thankfully, the medicine worked, and my dad was out of pain within the next few days.
Avatar f tn I am having and have been having pain in the big joint of big toe of left foot is this related to MS or possible gout but it happens regularly when I again on my feet again for extended period of time or for consecutive days that is why I am leaning towards the MS.
Avatar f tn thought I should give a little more info. Both of my ankles & feet are swollen and I'm having lower back pain. I'm also extreamly over weight. I'm 5'8 and probably weight 270 lbs. Avatar f tn Joint pain can be caused by a variety of issues such as autoimmune diseases, gout, osteoarthritis, tendinitis and infections caused by a virus, such as Epstein-Barr viral syndrome, Hepatitis, Influenza or Lyme disease. If the initial tests were negative, further evaluation and additional diagnostic tests including CBC or blood differential, c reactive protein and autoimmune tests may need to be done. Another specialist's opinion may also help. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn Help. i woke up on Wed and couldn't go to work because my foot was so sore (where big toe joint is, and ball). Took 4 ibprofrin and hobbled into work 3 hours later. Got through day. Next morning i woke up at 3 am with more pain than i could fathom. Foot was red and very swollen. Excrutiating. Caught taxi to Dr. he said i have gout? blood tests showed normal uric acid level. Treated me for gout anyway. I'm on colgout. It's been 5 days. Still can't walk.
Avatar n tn Swollen hands and feet can be due to arthritis, especially rheumatoid, gout, polycythemia vera causing clots in small blood vessels, deep vein thrombosis, allergic or contact dermatitis, and acromegaly. It could be that when you sleep your hands and feet are exposed to something that causes an allergic reaction. Other causes (RA has been ruled out) will also need to be ruled out. It can hardly be acromegaly and this endocrine dioreder wull cause persistingly swollen hands and feet.
