swollen feet elderly

Many elderly women show up in the emergency room with peripheral edema or swollen feet due to congestive heart failure (which is a chronic condition). When I was pregnant, I had ONE foot swell terribly. That was a vein issue in my case. And I had pregnancy hypertension and had pitting edema overall. (good times . . . loved it so much I did it twice, ha ha). Another common reason for this kind of edema is kidney issues. And liver issues. The list goes on.

Is it possible just to have right sided heart failure and never goes into the left side? I am confused. My relative who is going on 90 has swollen legs feet and ankles, one side more than the other. He has never been short of breath and lungs are clear. I read that right sided shows symptons such as I described. Does this mean the type he has is just the beginning or not as dangerous to have? The diuretics he is one just doesnt do the trick.

In winter my toes get swollen and severely itchy. My shoes are not too small, I wear socks, and have no funguses that I know of. I have never seen a doctor about it but it has happened every year for about five years, and only in the winter. I'm just wondering if anyone could tell me what it might be.

My feet and ankles are so swollen it's unbelievable. I've been drinking water and laying with my feet up, but it doesn't seem to be helping. Is there anything else I can do to help with the swelling? Are those long compression socks ok to try? My husband has some I've been thinking about putting on, but I want to know it's safe first.

I'm 36 weeks today and since last night my left feet got swollen and my right feet is kinda getting swollen too but not as bad as the left one should I go to the er to get check up because I'm at high risk pregnancy or its normal to get swollen at 36 weeks?

Today At My Babyshower They Slowly Started Swelling & As I Was Sitting Down Opening Gifts I Could Feet My Feel Swelling .. i Had To Even Take My Sandles Off ! & Struggled To slide Them Back In !! Its Now 10:53 at Night & This Started Happening Around 4ish & My Feet Are Still Swollen ..

Agree w above.. I never had swollen feet/hands w my 1st 2 pregnancies. My 3rd however, I started swelling around 25wks. I couldn't wear my wedding bands. My ankles also would be swollen. I didn't gain a lot of weight only 30lbs total for the entire pregnancy. What I noticed helped me was wearing my tennis shoes, if I did my ankles would not swell. I think having my feet better supported. But my hands stayed swollen the entire pregnancy I had to stop wearing my wedding rings completely.

My aunt told me that she noticed her feet extra swollen right before going into labor and that the fact that my feet are extra swollen could mean that I am going into labor soon... is this true that I could be going in to labor soon?. Does it have anything to do with it?

Hi ladies im 32 weeks and my feet got a lil swollen. One is more swollen than the other lol. Normally yes im tored my feet hurt aince i stand all day at work but once im up im ok i can handle it. My feet are killing me i feel like i cant even put pressure on them so i walk as if i have needles sticking out :/.

I have elephant feet. Sometimes i cant even walk because my feet feel like theyll bleed. My toes with get creases in them and my ankles to. Its the most horrible feelimg ive ever had in my feet ever!

My feet have been swollen since I was 3 months. I am currently 37w ftm. It horrible how bad mine are swollen. I wore a size 6 before I got pregnant, right now I have to wear a 8. Drink lots of water and keep them elevated. Also compression socks has really helped me so you might try them.
