My husband over several years has encountered poison ivy frequently and has always taken him MONTHS to get rid of it. This latest encounter spread to his scrotum and groin. It had originally started over a week ago on his forearm, then spread to other arm, neck, hands and thighs. He states (because he is too embarassed to let me see) that this is the worst by far, his scrotum was enlarged, painful, itching, and hardened plus his groin had also swollen (which we now know was his lymphnodes).
I have had poison ivy for almost two weeks. Monday since it had spread to my legs from my arms, I went to a doctor. He gave me a shot, some methylprednisol, and other pills for the itch. I'm am waking up at night itching. Also, I'm treating the itch with calamine lotion and other creams for itch. How long does it usually take for the itch to stop. Thanks.
I am incredibly allergic to poison ivy and three weeks ago I came into contact with a large amount of it. I have finally healed up after swollen and drippy rashes all over my arms and also in splotches on my hands. All the poison ivy rash has dried up and feels fine. However, three nights ago I woke up in the early morning with unbearable itchiness all over the palms of both hands, on the palm-side of my fingers, and in between my fingers.
sounds like an allergic reaction of some sort. If he's allergic to poison ivy his body will do that. Not only did my daughter catch poison ivy but she was allergic to it as well. She had to get a steroid shot immediatly.
I believe I came in contact with poison ivy one week ago. I'm not positive, but I was standing in some brush along the side of the road and developed bilateral ankle rashes that were red, itchy, blistered, and swollen. They have slowly gotten better and are mostly dried, red scaly scabs now.

i now have a rash on my abdomen, that looks like a scratch that is swollen and bubbly. I am hoping that this is just poison ivy or something like that.. i ve also attached a picture of it, please look at that for further thoughts. it doesnt burn but does itch at times, mostly at night time though. thanks in advance and please do look at the pictures as i think it may help.

This feel similar to a massive poison ivy exposure I had about a year ago.There are no individual bumbs, no blisters, no fluids, no urine discomfort, just two dime sized swollen irritations on each side of the shaft and swelling on the underside of my penis. Nothing on the head. It feels very similar to the posion ivy rash in terms of severe itching.

day 5 of poison ivy. main involvement is left hand 4" down from left wrist up to thumb nail, 2-3" wide. smaller on right wrist. generally healthy otherwise. today top of left hand (area with no rash) is swollen and lymph nodes under left AND right armpits are aching into chest. visibly no secondary infection or temp. should I go to doc?
I'll start off by saying I live in Idaho & I'm severely allergic to poison oak/ivy/sumac, so bad that you'll find pictures of me in the medical texts because of when I was hosptalised for it as a child (over 75% of my body covered with massive puss-filled hives/blisters). Anyways, I have special soap that gets the plant's oil out of my skin that I use whenever I've been in the woods.
Since the rash is on both hands, and on the backs of the hands, it seems you can rule out any kind of insect bite or contact rash like poison ivy. Does he have a fever? The first thing that springs to mind is Kawasaki disease, but that's sort of rare. How is he today? Can you take him to his pediatrician?
Is it only the lid? You could put a cold compress on the LID. When somethng like this happens you can also call the poison control center 24 hours a day. The doctor will review this post. I am not a doctor?
I know what you are saying. I came in contact with poison ivy/oak 3.5 months ago on the arm at work. I did throw away all gloves and cloths. after medication with it completly disappearing, I find when I sweat the rash comes back in the same area and becomes itchy. Then seems to go away several 2-24 hours later. Funny thing is, Im now 31 years of age and when I was about 11 I had come in contact with poison Ivy/oak on my hand/fingers.
