swollen eyelid infection

If it's neurological there shouldn't be any actual swelling of the eyelid involved, hmmm if the eyelid is swollen then it 'could' make the eyelid just look like it's drooping down, have you seen your GP about it yet? As aspen mentioned it could be an infection or even a reaction bug bite on the eyelid, if it's been a few days and it's still swollen it'd be worth getting your GP to check it out. Starting two days ago my right eyelid was hurting a a little swollen. It has gotten more painful and much more swollen since then. If I flip my eyelid up it is very very red and it looked almost like a little red bump underneath - that was yesterday. Today it is so swollen I can't even flip the eyelid up. I called the eye dr and he can't fit me in today. What could it be? What should I do? I took benadryl last night thinking it may be an allergy but it didnt help at all.

I've had 4 operations in the last 9 months for retinal detachment. After the first 3, my eye would always recover properly. The last operation which was done December 5th 2008, went well according to my doctor. I went to Africa for a little over a month to travel with family in January. About three to four days ago my eye began to feel like I had been punched in the face on the left side. I woke up the next morning to find a swollen eyelid, and a few lumps about the size of a piece of rice to a pin head. I gave it a day then went to the after hours where they gave me drops. i did have a sore of some sort inside my mouth. though. and also. prior to the exposure. i did have a swollen upper eyelid which has now receded without medical intervention.

Ocular herpes is incredibly rare. A swollen eyelid is not an indication of herpes. A doctor will be able to identify issues with the eye and treat you accordingly or pass you on to an ophthalmologist. The genital exposure is irrelevant; if you are going to have issues with ocular herpes, it will come internally from your oral infection.

Felt like something was irritated at the base of my eyelashes. Woke up yesterday morning with a swollen eye lid. Still swollen today and eye lid is red. I was thinking that it might be a stye but there is no little bump anywhere on my eyelid. I have been applying warm compresses throughout the day. Think this is a stye forming or something else?
