Swollen eyelid contacts

Common Questions and Answers about Swollen eyelid contacts

swollen

Avatar n tn After having contacts for a year my left eye got an infection and I noticed my left eyelid was swollen. I was given antibiotic drops and I think I was on them for about a month and it made my swollen eyelid and the infection go away and I was back on contacts again.
Avatar f tn I worn contacts sometimes, but when my vision got bad again I stopped using contacts. Since this summer, I noticed my left eye lid have been swollen. I have been told by my second doctor that that was because of allergies. She prescribed me anti-allergy drops but it didn't help. She also advised me warm presses, and it didn't help. However, now I switched back to the first doctor, she said that the swollen eye was due to the damage on my cornea.
Avatar f tn Yesterday when i woke up i noticed pain around my eye with pain whenever i would blink. I assumed the pain was because of pink eye but when i looked at my eye only my eyelid was red and swollen. It also looked like there was a bump. I then thought it was a stye but later realized the bump wasn't on the eyelash line. It's more in the middle of my eyelid. Whenever i read something online it says it's probably a chalazion but it also says chalazions arent painful but this is.
Avatar n tn I woke up today and my lower right eyelid was swollen. There is no pain, eye was not swollen shut just swollen. Wondering what it may be and how i should handle it.
Avatar f tn I have had a very swollen left eyelid for about a month now that droops very heavy and also swelling on my lower kid as well. I was diagnosed about two weeks ago and have been on Pred Forte drops since. How long does it usually take for them to work? Also, how often is it that the eyelid stays swollen?? I am worried it won’t go back to normal since it’s been so long.
Avatar n tn Later that night when looking in the mirror I noticed my left eyelid was getting red and puffy. Its two days later and my eyelid is now very swollen and if it gets any more swollen I will not be able to open my eye. I now also have a headache to go with it but I haven't detected a fever. I wear contacts but have not worn them in almost a week, instead I wear my glasses. I have had surgery on my left sinus passage which damaged the tear duct in my left eye. What should I do?
Avatar f tn it feels like my eyelids are sticking to my eye. it hurts to touch the eyelid. it feels like i have a piece of dirt under my contact, but i took it out, cleaned it, and put it back in and it still feels the same. it feels like i have some sort of gunk on the bottom eyelid but nothing is there. i don't know what it is or what to do please help!!!
Avatar f tn While laying in bed I noticed a small bump on my cornerlower eyelid that was painful. (very tiny tiny bump) next morning woke up to crusty eyelashes, white part of eye slightly swollen, and pinkish color eye and swollen upper eyelid. Went to eye dr he wasn't sure what the issue is, informed wasnt pink eye nor a stye, but prescribed maxitrol to use twice a day.
Avatar n tn Lately I have had a problem that started off as a dry patch on my right eyelid that lasted for a week. Than one day I wake up and my whole right eye is swollen shut. I immediatly put ice on it and go up to the hospital. The provider told me it was a bug bite and prescribed me benedryl. Well just when I thought all was fine two day later I wake up to both eyes swollen shut. Again I immediately put ice on it and go to the hospital.
Avatar m tn my right eye is smaller than my left =( well i wear colored contacts there not medicated..i know its bad but i wear them well i forgot to take them off 2 nights ago and i woke up like at 4 to this pain in my right eye, it was really bad i could bearly handle it =( i couldint close my eye, because it burned and hurt and it felt i had something in my eyelid and it was soo bad i couldint even sleep i always take them off and i forgot that night =( i need help! how do i get my eye back to normal!!!?
Avatar n tn The MD gave me Alamast and said just stop wearing my contacts for awhile. He did not want to give me any steriod drops for the swelling because he said that is just a temporary fix. I look under my eyelid and do notice the small white bumps. They haven't gone down in size yet. The "foreign object sensation" has gone away. I'm worried this will last forever! I miss my eyelid looking "normal!" This has been extremley frustrating!
Avatar n tn So almost 2 weeks ago now, I woke up with my right upper eyelid (only) so swollen that my eyebrow looked like I just had an overdone face lift on one side of my face. I tried putting cold compress on it, no change, as the day progressed swelling decreased, but not completely. Next day same thing, took some Actifed and rested for a few hours. This seemed to make the swelling go down quite a bit.
Avatar m tn I went back to the doctor last week and my eye pressures went down to 18 and 20. At that time I expressed concern over my left eylid being swollen when I awake. It is swollen to an extent that when I open my eyes and look into the mirror up close, my left eyeball will not move and remains stationary. This will continue for about 20 seconds and then it will begin to track with my other eye after blinking. I have noticed that I have had 2 styes in the past 3 weeks in that particular eye as well.
Avatar m tn I'll add as much information as possible to my topic. If this isn't in the right forum section, please move it to the correct one, but read my post first. I guess this could also go in the allergies section. I am nearly 16 years old, now a Junior in High School, and have had problems with bumps and swelling on my eyelids since the 4th grade. I woke up this morning to my right eye being half open. Looking in the mirror, it's swollen yet again.
Avatar n tn First I am a contact lens wearer. I noticed a stye like bump on my left lower eyelid last week that "popped" overnight releasing a white puss. Seemed to have completely gone away. this morning i woke to a very sore left eye but didn't see anything. it hurts to touch the lower eyelid and when i flip the lid, there is a white spot with the rest of the inner lid being very red. It also hurts to touch the eyelid and to blink....
Avatar m tn Hi, I had a scleral buckle surgery performed 1 year ago (feb 4 2009) on my left eye following a retinal detachment (boxing). Everything seemed to be healing perfectly for the first 6-7 months, my eye looked very normal and healthy, and then things suddenly went real bad. I was playing around one day and accidentally got hit with a baseball cap on the eye. I have noticed since/around then that my eyelid is always swollen, red and droopy.
Avatar f tn I acccidentally slept in my extended-wear contacts and, during the night, had some allergy issues. Not realizing my contacts were in my eyes, I used antihistamine eye drops. This morning, one of my contact lenses is not on my iris--it feels like it's stuck way back under my eyelid, but I cannot dislodge it or see any evidence that it is still in my eye. Is it possible that the antihistamine drops dissolved or ate the contact?
Avatar n tn I started wearing one contact about 3 months ago, and that eye has been twitching off and on since I started with the contact. I'm using 30 day night/day contacts, but have taken it out for days at a time thinking the twitching is related to that. Sometimes it helps, but then the twitching starts again. Since it's only in the eye with the contact, I guess I can put 2+2 together and get 4, but is this normal when you've never worn contacts before?
Avatar f tn sensation at the inner cantus of my right eye and the lower eyelid near the inner cantus was swollen (lasted 2 days). Now, the swelling has subsided but the sensation still remains. When I shut my left eye with my right eye open, I could see a shadow (shaped of a quarter of a circle) at the 'block' sensation region. When I continue moving my right eye downwards to the left, the 'shadow' also follows the movement downwards left and gradually disappears.
Avatar f tn Three weeks ago my left eye was red and I believe I had a stye on my upper left eyelid. I kept a warm compress on it throughout the next morning and the redness cleared. Eleven days later my left eye began getting red again. I stopped wearing my contacts which I usually wear but the redness did not go away and then a red ring began to form around my iris. I also just noticed that underneath my upper left eyelid there is a dark spot on my eye.
739384 tn?1232310909 So I decided to not wear my contacts for another week, and put a brand new pair of contacts in. So I did, and the problem went away for a couple weeks, and it started doing the same thing. I wake up and they are red and gunky, so i put some visaline in them and let them rest for a couple hours, they clear up a little, put my contacts in, where them all day without irritation, but by the end of the day they are red, and seems swollen-like as well, and in the morning they are still gunky and red.
Avatar f tn In cases where the eyelid is swollen and has ptosis due to problems in the lid itself such as a style or chalazion the stye might cause pain. In most cases however ptosis is not a painful condition. Severe headache, ptosis, dilated pupil and double vision can be a sign of aneurysm causing a 3rd nerve palsy.
Avatar f tn Can you have an allergy in one eye that causes swelling of the upper eyelid throughout the day? My eyelid swells (upper lid only) throughout the day (less swelling when I first wake up) and feels heavy. Grittiness in the swollen eye (actually both eyes at times) - but no swelling on the other eye. Please help with your thoughts! Thanks.
Avatar n tn I noticed my left eyelid had become droopy, once I went back I stopped wearing contacts and its been about 3 years now. Its gotten a little better but my left eyelid still does not feel ok, it still feels a little swollen/droopy, it kinda feels itchy too, its hard to describe what it feels like... I'm more aware of my left eye. On days which gets hot, the problem gets worst. when I sleep it makes my left eye feel more comfortable.
Avatar f tn I have had chronic eyelid swelling/pain for the past 7 months. My eyelid opens slower and has an extra fold on it. I went to see the eye doctor in January of this year and he said that I have GPC and gave me alamast and told me not to wear my contacts. However, this has not helped. My eyelid still swells up. I went back to the doctor in May and he gave me a 30-day supply of Dexamethasone eye drops. After a week or so on them i was able to have some relief.
Avatar n tn ve always had large eyes, over the course of the past two weeks my right eye became red and irritated and was not anywhere near as open as it was before, and so I thought it was just an infection, so I treated it at first with just eye drops and stopped wearing my contacts. After the redness persisted, I started using antibiotic ophthalmic eye-ointment; this made the redness stop. My right eye is still nowhere near as open as it was before, however.
Avatar f tn Few days ago, she felt a little pain on right eye, the next day, her upper eyelid on right eye little swollen look like a thicker eyelid. I brought her to an experienced opthamogist, he said her right eye - white area has some irritation, the beginning of infection and prescribe eye drop. Still cornea is clear which is good. She is not really suffering anything, now using eye drop for 4 days without lenses. I plan to skip her lenses for another 6 days after 4 day eyedrop!
Avatar n tn its usually redder than my right eye and my upper eyelid gets itchy and swollen randomly time to time, I tried Allaway but it didn't help, I also use a lot of Artificial tears and Gels so I'm sure its not from dryness. I went to the doctor and he said he would like to try Alrex and Restasis on me, but its very expensive and I'm afraid it won't work like Lotemax didn't 1 year has passed from the time I had GPC and it doesn't seem to have got any better.
Avatar f tn I get these once in while, too. It's not the painful sty, but rather a flesh-colored tiny bump. Bumps on the eyelid margin may represent infection, or inspissated oil glands. It's recommended that you visit an optometrist or opthamologist for diagnosis and treatment. Usually they'll medically scrape the spot (not painful and very quick) and provide daily eye wipes.
