Hi, my brother is 49 yrs old and started having a strange feeling in his jaw. Hard to describe. His tongue feels swollen and definitely numb. He can't chew b/c it aggravates swollen tongue sensation and swallowing becomes really difficult. He had a droopy eye but that stopped and he will get a headache on one side - the same side that had the droopy eye which stopped drooping days ago. All his tests are negative except the emg. So something's going on.
I wake up in the morning with the area around my left eye very swollen. And my eye is slightly "teary".
I've been told by and eye doctor that I have allergy eyes, but I've tried allergy meds. and they do not seem to help.
And why is it only my left eye? The swelling goes down a little during the day, but settles in a bag and my eye. It looks awful.
Symptoms: Swollen upper left eye, could not look up and looking to the left by turning head the eye hurt; tingling/numbness from left eye downwards and left arm numbness; racing heart; and something like a heat wave over the upper left side of body (left arm/heart area). Tightness under left arm. BP 144/88 Any ideas???????
i was diagnosed with bih in 2006 and ive been in and out of hospital since i was put on diamox xmas 2006 and i came off it noz 2007 and so far all has been fine no headaches anything and i noticed over the weekend that my left eye ball seems swollen compared to the right my eye lid is covering more of my left eye due to it being swollen. there is no pain or blurred vision or anything really and i just wondered if this could be anything to do with raised pressure again?
In January I went to NYC and all of a sudden my right upper eyelid started to be swollen every morning. It never got to be extremely swollen but noticeably bigger than my left eye. I thought it was because of the cold weather up there (bcs I'm from south florida) so I did not think about it as much. When I for back to Florida, it still was swollen. So I tried to apply warm compress to it and it seemed like it was getting worse so I applied some cold compress and it got slightly better.
I have had optic neuritis multiple times and the pain I experienced included a burning sensation, sometimes my eye would throb, the pain felt like it was behind, below, in the eye, etc. Your doctor can look into your eye and tell you if the nerve is swollen. If the nerve is swollen they usually prescribe steroids. If you would like to talk in more detail about this problem w/someone who has dealt with MS since 1995...send me a note. came about was when the sores developed a 3rd time on my tongue as well as my gums becoming inflammed and swollen. Those symptoms lasted 8 days and the eye symptoms about 10. The tongue sores kept returning the whole month of Feb, and even now, in the same spots with no pain...just redness. My eye problem came back on a Weds too and I went to the eye dr that Saturday but it had gone away but he told me that I had a common bacteria infection on the eyelids that was normal this time of year.
From my month or so of symptoms, I have most of those. Others will be able to give you a better answer hopefully to help you. My eye has been blurry/blind for 2 weeks or so. I still have vibrations that feels cellphones are wrapped around my chest area, and just drop to my knees. Happens in less than a second. Started with 2 maybe 3 an hour. Last day or so it happens 2-3 times a minute it seems.
I just went to the doctor and am totally freaked out. They said my cornea was swollen and I had almost like little water bubbles blurring my vision. My doc said most likely because of wearing my contacts so much. She said I could continue to wear the contacts but to make sure I remove them at night before bed (which I never do).
She wants to see me back in 3 weeks. Is it likely that I have a serious problem or that the symptoms will be much improved in 3 weeks?
I have been having periods where my upper eyelid will start out itching badly, then it will progress to red & painful followed by severe swelling. This will last a couple of days from start to finish & then go away on its own. The periods have occurred three times over the past 8 mos spanning both winter & spring months. No other allergy symptoms are present. Any ideas as to what this could be?
It is now 10 days later and his eyes are still swollen. The stye eye more than the other (his right if it makes any difference). Yesterday he felt like his throat was very swollen and hurt a lot. He has now had off and on aches the past couple of days and last night said he felt feverish. Do you have any idea what is going on? Could any of this be related to the stye? Could this be anything serious? He is a student and is going to the clinic today.
Ok so I'm supposed to keep an eye out if my ankles get swollen. And I think they are but I'm not sure. I also have a weird feeling in.both my legs and I'm not sure why. My doctor thinks I might be developing high blood pressure due to my high levels of protein so im supposed to keep an eye out for the symptoms. So please any advice will be helpful.

I gave it a day then went to the after hours where they gave me drops. Its since been two days and it gets more swollen everyday, today being swollen shut. The outside is purple and red and the inside is bright red and the lumps are growing. It is very painful when its open, but even more when its closed. Help? My 18 month old son when was at home after having the food started itching both eyes. After few minute we saw that both his eye lids are swollen.There is no red-eye, but eye lid is swollen. It is bit itchy, but my son is playful and not crying.
The food he had was the banana yogut, which he does have it. We did go out to park yesterday evening, but he got this eye swelling only today evening.
Can you please guide me what this could be related to and can we take some eye drops ?
He normally will have a little eye redness after being groomed but when my husband brought him him I was shocked. The whole membrane around his eye was red and swollen. I posted a picture on facwbook and I have a friend who is a groomer and use to work for a vet and said this looked like it came from being choked by the harness. It is not cherry eye since that is in the corner of the eye. Could this have come from being choked?
Hi, welcome to the forum, swollen eye indicates allergic conjunctivitis or angioedema. You have a positive history of allergy. This can be complicated by bacterial or viral infection.
Also swollen eyelids or face, esp. in early morning, are sign of kidney disorder. The renal disease (kidney) like nephrotic syndrome, glomerulonephritis, and renal failure can cause such symptoms. You need to undergo urine analysis, renal function tests and radio imaging of the kidneys to rule out the cause.
I often wake up with a large, swollen eyelid. This has happened for over a month now. It alternates between both the left and right eye, top or bottom eyelid, and sometimes even both. There is no pain, and the swelling is normally reduced after using a cold compress... I have not noticed any patterns as to when the swelling occurs, and went weeks without makeup to see if that would help (if it was an allergic reaction.) Nothing seems to be effective, what could be the problem?
