Switching from loestrin to yaz

Common Questions and Answers about Switching from loestrin to yaz

loestrin

Avatar n tn I was on Loestrin 1/20 Fe for 2 years and it initially seemed to help the acne, but eventually it got worse. I switched to Estrostep 1/20 for 6 months and it got even worse. Then I switched to Ortho Cyclen in hope that the higher estrogen dosage would help. It has and my face is almost clear after 3 months. However, it has made me gain weight and be bloated all the time. This is not okay, so I definitely need to switch again because I cannot afford to buy all new clothes in the next size up.
Avatar f tn I've not had any problems with Yaz or Loestrin 24. I'm on Loestrin right now because Yaz made me pretty low emotionally. However, I think because they are so low dose pills, they shouldn't cause such a problem. I've heard bad thinkgs about Seasonal/ique, though. I dunno. I take Loestrin continiously and haven't had an issue, I don't see why you would bother with a pill specifically marketed as "less periods" when you can have them with any.
1674462 tn?1304114750 I am not sure that birth control will really help with endo pain. I know that it will slow down the growth of the endometriosis though. As far as pain relief, I have heard that ice or heat packs help along with anti-inflamitories. If those don't seem to help talk to your doctor again. They may be able to prescribe you something OR, I know where I am from they have physical therapy that can also help with Endo pain. Maybe you could look into something like that.
Avatar f tn If you like the pill, then switching to another one with a different synthetic progestin might be a good thing to try. See http://www.wdxcyber.com/ncontr13.htm for info on different progestins if you're interested in the details.
Avatar f tn I am starting a new birth control...I was on Yaz, but it had me feeling extra odd. I am now on Microgestin 1/20 Fe generic version of Loestrin. Anyway what does anyone know about this? Any major side effects I should be worried about...I was reading that it causes bigger breast, weight gain, and low sex drive...is that true for anyone else who has taken it?
Avatar n tn Every time I go to my pharmacy to get my BC, they switch me from Junel FE 1/20 to Blisovi FE 1/20. They always say they are out of whichever brand I am currently using at the time. I Googled both brands and they have the same ingredients in them. I was wondering if it is unhealthy to keep switching brands even though they have the same stuff in the pills?
Avatar f tn I took Ortho-tricyclyn for 7 years and decided to switch to yaz only because Ortho-tricyclyn made me moody and crazy only 1 week out of the month(big mistake on switching). Well I took Yaz for 2 years and stopped taking it in July of 2009. Suddenly all of the these symptoms happen to me anxiety, rapid heart beat, numbness and tingling after stopping yaz. I became numb, shaky, and pale at work shortly after that and they had to call 911. They told me I was having an anxiety attack.
Avatar n tn And the sex drive is back=) So, i would say if you need to be on BC, try to switch to a different one. Ortho Tri Cyclen was great for me. Hope this helps.
737515 tn?1252552423 I went from ortho tri cyclen lo, to ortho cyclen, to ortho tri cyclen. All of which have made me have anxiety. I was on the depo shot for years and beside minor bone loss i had no issues. Is there anyone who has had this problem and actually found an answer?? I am sexually active and not ready for a child at all.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have been searching the internet and there is absolutely no information on switching from higher doses of estrogen to a lower dose. My doctor is didn't mention anything about how to switch, and is now out of town. Background: I have been taking a combination birth control pill for about 5 years now. I am absolutely religious about taking it at the exact time each day down to the minute.
Avatar m tn Some of my friends tried to scare me saying that you can have your period and still be pregnant which made me worry so i took a pregnancy test about a week ago (about a month and a half after id had sex) and it was negative. I swithced my BC to YAZ recently and this is my first pack of pills. I'm a week and a couple days away from getting my period but wed-sun(today) ive been spotting, amd having clumps of blood fall out when I use the bathroom.
Avatar n tn I too got them a lot while on Yaz. I switched to Loestrin and still got them frequently. But they were reduced when I started wiping my vagina a few times a day with a tissue and water only in addition to bathing daily. Drying with a blow dryer after showers and keeping the area dry through the day. Salt baths seemed to help some too. You also are at higher risk if you are diabetic and have sex frequently.
Avatar f tn so I have been on yaz for about 10 months and for some reason my pharmacist said that I was out of refills and switched me back to yasmin which i had taken before. Unfortunately I missed day 7 of my yasmin pill, not taking it until when I took my pill on day 8... About a day or two later, my stomache started cramping up all over... I kept saying it must have been from something I ate, but now 5 days later, my the cramping continues.
Avatar f tn I have to constantly be on a BC pill to keep from having cysts once a month. I was on Lo Lo Estren and it was perfect but insurance wanted a generic so I was given a generic for Yaz. Now I am losing my mind! I am super anxious all the time and suddenly jealous of every woman that my husband works with. I obsess over silly things that I would never worry about before. I am switching back ASAP but I was wondering if anyone else has been through this with Yaz as well.
Avatar m tn I've just recently switched from Ortho Tricyilin to Yaz. I'm supposed to take my last placebo pill tonight but I still haven't gotten my period. I was a bit late taking one pill but it was only 90mins. I don't use any back-up methods and I have never missed a pill. Could I be pregnant just from switching pills?
Avatar n tn You should talk to your doctor about switching the pills because Yaz and Yasmine have a reputation of having even worse side effects. They go such extent that they can endanger lives. Here is a site with some information on that if you are curious http://www.onlinelawyersource.
1761691 tn?1313171747 Call your gyno. A nurse there can tell you when to start the Yaz.
Avatar f tn It takes about 3mnths for your body to reconfigure itself out. After that you should be feeling fine and normal. If however, you develop vomiting or bleeding, anything severe you should stop taking it and consult your dr.
Avatar f tn This will keep your blood sugar levels more stable and energy level higher. I would talk to your doctor about switching to a different pill. My new ones are Loestrin 1.5.
Avatar n tn You could also talk to you doctor about switching to Yaz.. When I took Yaz I never had a period.. my doctor said this was fine.. that in ppl yaz will either shorten your period to a day/two.. or take it away completely. .. .. your doctor would know best!
562936 tn?1216219564 Probably just a strange way your body is taking to the birth control. I take it and when I switched to it from yaz I had dark colored break through bleeding, but only lasted a few days. Call your gyno.
