Avatar m tn I'm a 42 male with BAV. My first echo in 2008 noted a 3.6 aortic root, 2009 3.8. An October 19, 20011 came in at 4.4. A MRI was ordered two days later and the root was 4.1x3.7. I also had a wisdom tooth pulled on 10/14/11 and I began to think maybe it was just inflammation due to the pulled tooth. My Doc immediately dismissed that theory. Also the MRI rated my regurgitation as mild and not the mild/moderate I had been told previously.
Avatar n tn I went for an MRI of my breast and found out that over the past four years my aortic root has dilated from 3.3 in 2005 to 3.7 in 2009. The biggest jump from 2008-2009 3.4 to 3.7cm. Does this mean I have an aneurysm? I don't have any of the risk factors. I am not overweight, have low blood pressure, never smoked, don't drink over 1 glass of wine. So what is the risks and what is the prognosis?
Avatar n tn My blood pressure is usually about 110 over 68. My internist has suggested switching from lisinopril to losartan since a New England Journal of Medicine article (June 26, 2008) reported better management of root diameter with an ARB. My cardiologist is less willing to make the switch since my root diameter has been stable at 3.8 cm for a few years. I'd appreciate your thoughts on the benefits of switching to losartan.

Avatar m tn The Doc also changed my med from Metoprolol Succinate ER 25mg to Bisoprolol 5mg once daily in addition to Losartan 25 in the morning. I am too scared to take the new med as I read 5 mg is equivalent to Metoprolol 100mg. I am scared to take in the night due to the fear of hypotension and low pulse rate. But the doc assured that nothing would happen but I am too scared to take an initial dose of 5mg Bisoprolol straightaway....

Avatar m tn Hello, I'm 45yo.caucasian male.Height 173 cm, Weight 68 kg.2,5 months ago I started taking Lodoz 2,5 mg (bisoprolol with diuretic), blood persure before taking medicine was approximately 160/100. The medicine was prescribed in the same dose by general practice doctor 2,5 months ago . In the meantime I did ultrasound of the heart and the result seems to be OK. as wel as EKG.
Avatar f tn And for some reason it seams like it is not going down, so I went to the ER and they increased my amlodipine to 10mg and adv me to contact my primary dr that following week. Called the dr that next week and he increased my losartan to 100 mg and amlodipine to 10 mg, 1 each per day. However it seems like my bp is still hanging out around the upper 180's. I take Vyvanse and also duloxetine 1 time daily also, could those be helping my bp stay high?
Avatar n tn Some people hyperventilate to the point of fainting when they have an anxiety attack. My sister hyperventilated. I don't, so we do differ. It's possible the initial anxiety attack was related to fear because of the heart problem, but we can't know that really. CBT might be very helpful to you given it's mostly this one experience that triggers them. Might make it easier for that type of therapy to work.
Avatar m tn My GP put me on Lisinopril last year but switched me to Losartan after the Lisinopril failed to help. The Losartan brought my BP down a lot with a 50 mg daily dose. I was down to 110/70 and even 100/65 at times. I even got light-headed when I stood up quickly. The GP said this was normal and good. He likes my BP to be well below 120/80. So far so good. I was getting the Losartan from Walgreens as a 30 day supply.
Avatar m tn After my 6 months check up my pressure was still the same so he increased my Losartan to 100-12.5 and a few weeks after I would get readings of 130 /80 sometimes and others I would get 129/78. But some days I am not sure if this is a side effect of the losartan but I would feel a bit dizzy and I not sure what's going on and I been dealing with ED so the week before Thanksgiving I got frustrated and stop taking the meds.
Avatar n tn I recommend you take your blood pressure (hopefully you have a home monitor). If it's been a couple hours from when you normally take your pill, the pill should be working and your blood pressure should look like the pill is doing its job. But if your blood pressure is very high when you take it whereas it is normally normal with medication, it's a strong possibility you skipped taking it.
Avatar f tn I am currently on Lisinopril to keep my BP down (I have Cardiomyopathy after going into CHF from a virus that went to my heart). I have had a cough which is a side effect of Lisinopril. My doctor just gave me a RX for Losartan but this med is more expensive by quite a bit. I haven't had any other problems with Lisinopril besides the cough and I am scared to change meds and take the chance of worse side effects.
548642 tn?1266179652 ve had a previous addiction to opiates in any form, then you may need to proceed with caution. Opiates are known to replicate the virus. You really need to talk this over with your doctor. Unfortunately I was exposed to a litany of drugs as a youth 1968-69. Environmentally they were all around me, I happened to be one of a handful to become addicted. First I had a habit of taking codeine #4 and reds, I don't even know if they still make those.
Avatar n tn “By measuring the amount of active NF-kB in the liver from a biopsy sample, we may be able to tell which patients will benefit from treatment with losartan or similar drugs such as ACE inhibitors. This may prove to be a new treatment for up to half of all liver patients.
1008841 tn?1293598960 and asked my GP to switch me from diuretic style BP drugs to the ARB class. I did notice benefits in ED function after a few weeks, and also definitely noticed a more positive mood. I am hoping there will also be an impact on my stage II fibrosis after my SVR, and will do a follow up Fibro-Sure test next year to check for any changes. I have been on Cozaar for about 16 months now.
2009161 tn?1327915695 Hi, I have BP from the past three years, i started getting medicated from past 6 months, since then I am having Losartan 50 mg per day one tablet. Today my BP has come down to 135/80, any ways can I continue using the same medicine? Could you please tell me if Losartan Potasium has calcium in it. What is calcium channel blocker?
336017 tn?1263579257 Some other ARBs and ACE inhibitors may work less effectively or not at all (some ARBs I know to be good - besides telmisartan - are valsartan, irbesartan, candesartan. Most of them are good EXCEPT for losartan, which is a surmountable antagonist and, theoretically, would lose its effect over time). Next fact: you need to take a high dose.
Avatar f tn Hallo there -anyone and everyone. Is there any reasons to prefer or take losartan above olmesartan or the olmesartan above losartan. Person taking these is african, 57 years, female and oh, my mother.
Avatar m tn His averaged blood pressure is 146/80. He was placed on losartan potassium (50 mg) for 8 days but there is no change to his averaged blood pressure. Would you advice him continuing losartan or seek new drugs? Many thanks. Avatar m tn How long have you been taking Losartan? We encourage you to check back in iwth your doctor about this to discuss. Here is a list of side effects associated with Losartan. https://www.drugs.com/sfx/losartan-side-effects.html Uncommonly, ear congestion and hearing loss occur. But you are describing hypersensitivity. Losartan is associated for some with tremor. I would wonder if the sound issue is not related to a bit of anxiety.
Avatar f tn After a month of anti-tb medications, my cough still persists, my doctor then prescribed diflucan 150 thinking that I might have a fungal infection aside from tb. i just had 2 caps of diflucan but I now suspect that losartan is the culprit since I am taking it for more than a year now. I came across its adverse effect as I searched for the answer of my persistent cough. Is my suspicion right?
Avatar m tn I was on losartan for a few months. I don't think that my bp was consistenlty high. I think what was going on was that it was very up and down and it was making me feel pretty bad. But losartan which is a third line for bp was the first thing that they put me on. And I don't think my bp was that bad. I have had elevated renin/aldosterone studies and low potassium in the past.
