Common Questions and Answers about Surgical operation video clips

operation

Avatar f tn Now I find out that the surgical clips were left in after the surgery. I am just wondering if anybody knows about the long term effects of these clips being left in. Every Dr. I have been to says they are no problem. Reading comments on different web sites from people they are saying they have pain and the Drs. will not admit there is a chance the clips are causing pain.
Avatar m tn When surgical clips are used to control bleeding they remain in place because if they were removed, the bleeding would recur. Another recommendation would be that you gather all of your record and xrays and find your nearest regional experts in abdominal surgery or vascular surgery and go somewhere else to be evaluated. Perhaps you need a new set of eyes to evaluate your problem. If you tell me where you reside, I might be able to suggest a place.
138239 tn?1239924924 I can tell you that after alot of research and many nights on the computer I found out that during the operation they use surgical clips. I believe the problem stems from these clips. They say they are not harmful but after my first surgery the pain was terrible so I went for a cat scan and there was a surgical clip in my pelvis. I believe the doctor went in - took it out and acted as though nothing was wrong with me and he found nothing wrong with me. Now to my understanding they use 4 clips.
Avatar f tn My cat scan shows two in the upper quadrent and one in my pelvis - I wonder where is the other one. There is such thing as dropped surgical clip during surgery or floating clips. I underwent another surgery. I came out of that one feeling like I should have after the first one. They say the clips are not dangerous but I would bet that if I went for a scan now you probably wouldnt see the clip in my pelvis anymore.
1020778 tn?1262836304 m not even sure why they would have needed to use the staples or clips internally the c-section was sealed externally already by clips and I was not informed of any problems that may have ocured in my body... My hospital band had said what I was allergic to (latex and morphine) and both were used. Luckily I overcame the reactions and then had more problems after the surgery was completed! Unfortunately I am still feeling pain within my abdomen, it feels like a jab or sharp pain on that side.
Avatar n tn Upon my post visit he had me get a sono gram. It showed I had several surgical clips, my left ovary was still there and sever scaring of tissue. He stated that it was normal and I would be find. I keep having pain , went to my family doctor he stated I needed to go back. The doctor who did my surgey in the first place would not see me no more. I was sent to a new doctor in another town.
1020778 tn?1262836304 Are you talking about surgical clips inside the abdomen or surgical staples on the skin? There are different techniques for appendectomies and doctors vary on the type of closure they perform. As AnnieBrooke noted, surgical staples are one way of closing wounds. They are on the outside of the scar and removed after a few days by your doctor. Inside the abdomen, your doctor may have used surgical clips instead of sutures where he removed your appendix.
Avatar n tn SURGICAL CLIPS IN THE PELVIS - I felt just like you do. The pain after my g/b surgery was so bad. Couldn't walk, sleep, laugh, nothing. I had surgery two months ago. After the g/b removal the pain was so bad I thought I would die. I pretty much lived on pain meds for about two months. I went back to the doctor one week after the operation and he could not imagine why I was having all this pain and how swollen my stomach was.
Avatar f tn Stacker, the clips do dislodge in some people for unknown reasons. Clips typically cause no problems at all - in place or out-of-place.
Avatar m tn A friend of mine had a hysterectomy a few years back, as a result of a severe endometriosis. Since this procedure, she has continued to have periods of extreme debilitating pain. Recently she had an x-ray that showed two clips that were left in her abdomen following the surgery. Oddly enough, the clips are in the EXACT same area where this pain emanates from. She has asked her OBGYN, who said that the clips are necessary and said it is doubtful that the pain would result from the clips.
Avatar n tn I had 3 xrays of my back 6 days ago. It showed mulitipal surgical clips in my mid / lower left abdomen and to the left. I wonder if the were left there by mistake. I had a plastic aorta put in me 6 years ago.
Avatar m tn I had surgery a very long time ago where surgical clips were left inside and they could be causing problems for me. I was told that surgical clips were once made using lead products but they stopped using the ones made with lead and I want to find out when or what year they stopped using them.
648203 tn?1223766440 Check with your gyny and ask if he has placed any metal surgical clips in your lower abdomen. My gyny left 30 metal clips in my lower abdomen "WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE" and apparently this still happens??. The clips gave way in my lower left abdomen on the first and only occassion that i attempted intercourse following my hysterectomy operation.
Avatar f tn The gallbladder is absent status post cholecystectomy with surgical clips in the gallbladder fossa. A punctate calcification is seen adjacent to the right hepatic margin. There is no intra-abdominal free fluid, free air, or lymphadenopathy. The bowel is non dilated. The appendix is visualized and otherwise unremarkable. Stool seen throughout the right colon. Avatar f tn t tell you if they are going to leave in any clips and we find out later on during testing for something else. Surgical clips are left in the body often after surgery, but they can become dislodged and migrate to nearby areas, and this is very painful and can cause a lot of issues. If either of the clips have become dislodged I'd imagine they would have shown up on your tests, but I would address this with your doctor.
Avatar f tn And this being the only surgical procedure that could be responsible for the 7 or 8 surgical clips at the bottom of my neck (see AP view of chest, which has been described as being bent from medianastinal fullness. Could these clips have been used to help close an Emergency Airway? Or am I really reaching.
Avatar f tn CT Scan shows metallic clips in lower pelvis. I think the pain is now from the surgical clips. Anyone else have same symptoms after ovary removal??

Avatar m tn Can surgical clips left inside during laproscopic removal of gall bladder cause dry cough due to irritation - even years after the urgery
Avatar n tn Did your doctor remove the clips? My mom has clips causing debilitating pain and has been to over 15 doctors who will do nothing.
Avatar f tn I have had blackouts among other severe symptoms. Yesterday I found out there were two surgical clips in my abdomin. I have no idea why they are there nobody ever told me I would have them. I am wondering if this could be the problem causing all these horrible side affects from the surgery?
155056 tn?1333638688 Thank you, Jan. Mirade, this subject isn't taboo. As I said before, people have answered you, which is more than you got from other forums in which you've posted, and now the subject is exhausted. I hope you can redirect your frustrations into getting help for yourself. You are on other Internet forums posting the same thing. Even directing them to MedHelp. Why is that?
Avatar m tn The laparscope is inserted to view the inside of the abdomen. Surgical instruments are inserted to remove the gallbladder. Small clips close off the bile duct and blood vessels to prevent bleeding and bile leaks. The gallbladder is then detached from the liver. The clips are made of metal (titanium) or plastic that do not harm the body; and they are left in place. The gallbladder is then removed and carefully lifted out through the incision.
