Common Questions and Answers about Surgical operation operating room

operation

Avatar f tn I understand your concern regarding this situation, but the best person to ask regarding this would be the person who will be operating on you. Any operation carries its own risk. May it be the risk of aggravating the pain or condition or developing complications such as infection of heart and lung problems. These risks can be present even at the hands of the most experienced surgeons. However, this risk should be balanced with the potential benefits that you could get from the operation.
138239 tn?1239924924 Hi...Yes "A" Gall Bladder question. I had mine removed back in 10/07. I had gone to the doctor that morning & by that night I was in the operating room. When I went for my post-op appt. I had told the surgeon that something didn't feel quite right on the right side below my rib cage, he told me everything was fine, (he didn't do anything after the surgery but listened with a stethoscope) so I went on my merry way.
Avatar m tn , even if you will be wearing a mask during surgery. They then rolled me gurney and all into the operating room, where they had me shift onto the table. (My gurney stood by so I could ride back to post-op in it.) I looked at the shiny light in the ceiling for a little while and they put on my mask (giving me oxygen, which is great stuff to breathe!) and then they knocked me out by putting something into my I.V. I woke up in post-op, where the nurses were watching out for me.
Avatar m tn His been put on the following medication (1) tad lasix 20 mg od (2) clopidogrel 1 tad od (3) atorvastatin 40mg nocte. Well would like an advice on the operation wehter will it help him with such a poor EF or any other medication to improve his contactility before going for surgery.
Avatar f tn I work at the operating room and we did surgery on hiv patient . After that the instruments were put in a chlorine solution for about 10 minutes . I then started washing them . I wear gloves . At the end of the day I check my middle fingers and there was some lines on them asceive it is a cut . I put my hands in alcohol , salt water , lime and even put spray on it when I got home but it never hurt me and there was no burning sensation .
Avatar n tn e. operating rather than supervising others operating -- and I intend to ask that anyone assisting with "significant surgical tasks" have significant prior experience in the procedure (i.e. no newbies). I know my attitude's ironic, but -- anyway: do you see these as achievable and reasonable requests? Thanks.
Avatar m tn 9am, im having a lecture and then at 1030am im having my clinical training which is at operation room and it was a first time i entered the operation room to see a surgery of kidney transplant.
1060769 tn?1254977492 Postponing the operation as long as reasonably possible is a good thing. You avoid unnecessary surgical risks by doing that. A few people actually die during heart surgery. It's not like having your tonsils out. It's a lot more major than that. It's not something to jump into, just to "get it over with." Also, if you can postpone your operation, you may be able to take advantage of advanced surgical technology later on.
Avatar m tn He came in he saw the results of everything and told me there is a problem and we should go right up to the operating room so he can do an exploratory operation to find the problem. I did not want him operating on me a second time so told him I would be back on Monday to do the surgery. I dont like hospitals but knew I needed this operation in order to get back to phsical activities and my normal life. Anyway the surgery was done and I felt much better than I did in a long time.

Avatar n tn The recovery area is where the medical professionals watch and wait for you to awaken, then when they are confident you are coming out of anesthesia properly, they take you to your room. After that you can be visited by friends and family. Trust me, you will not be alone in recovery. They are quite attentive to patients that just got out of surgery. I was not in recovery long after I first opened my eyes. You will be really foggy when you first awaken.
Avatar f tn They are operating to take away part of the liver he also has a hernia but they arent bothered about that at the moment as they liver is more important. They done a biopsy last week. Does anyone know what is involved in this operation and what recovery time roughly is and also what are the after effects ie diet etc? He isn't a heavy drinker so they are not sure what has caused this he will maybe have a night out once a month and have a good drink. Thanks in advance for any responses.
Avatar m tn I would be concerned about abdominal wall hernia and incisional changes with the type of pain that you describe I would suggest that you schedule an appointment to speak to the person most familiar with your condition, the operation and your post operative course--the operating surgeon. Im sure they would be happy to clarify things as much as possible.
Avatar m tn Traditional open excisional biopsy is effective treatment in such cases but it is the most costly option because of the operating room charges and time off from work. Open excision may still be the best option in some cases based on large size of the fibroadenoma or the judgment of the surgeon or patient preference. 1815939 tn?1377991799 Every time surgeons enter the operating room, they and a team of skilled technicians, follow a very specific protocol. They check everything from electrical outlets to oxygen tanks, and double check the basics too, like confirming patient identity. Still, mistakes are made and infections occur -- sometimes because of factors out of the surgeon’s control. The team in the operating room consists of trained specialists who undergo years of schooling for their respective professions.
1176839 tn?1263755431 My surgeon was called in and he suggested that we go to the operating room to do an exploratory operation because he knew there was a problem but wasnt sure what it was and had to go in there to see. I agreed and had the operation. After that operation I had leakage coming out of the hole where my belly button is. He said that was normal but I was worried because one night there was alot and it looked bloody - I went to the er and they took a sample of the leakage and sent it out to be tested.
Avatar m tn Besides the costs of education, pay staff, rent, malpractice insurance (a biggie) it takes over a $100,000 to equip an operating room, plus the surgical fee normally includes all office care for 90 days. If you figure the surgeon was agreeing to provide care to you for 90 days for $1500 that works about to 69 cents/hour.
Avatar m tn After three years of chasing down the source of leg and foot pain and one back operation, I am told that my problem may be in the knee. The good news is that the doctors seem to have found a bone growth which is pushing on the peroneal nerve . A nerve block is scheduled to further confirm that hypothesis. The bad news is that the knee orthopedic surgeon says that he is nervous about operating in the popliteal cavity with its mess of nerves and blood vessels.
Avatar n tn They’re slowed so much that the brain cells can be left without oxygen for a long time – long enough for the surgeon to do his work. Lying on an operating table in the middle of a high-tech operating theatre, the patient goes into hibernation". The risk depends on the skill of the surgeon to complete the surgery quickly and successfully.
Avatar m tn 3)Patient will be prepared for operation and operation will be performed. 4)After operation patient will be looked after sincerely, specially in ICU (Intensive Care Unit) for 2 days. 5)After 2 days of sincere care in the ICU, patient will be transferred to Inpatient Service for 4 days. Within these days, there will be Dr. Visits everyday for control following-up the patient.
418466 tn?1207114132 Do NOT attempt to remove this drain by yourself. I can understand another vet wanting the surgical report, but it shouldn't stop them from treating your dog. That doesn't sound right to me at all. If you're having problems finding a competent vet, you could try starting with your local SPCA or Humane Society. Explain the situation to them and I'm sure they'll come up with a vet who will happily get this thing safely out of your dog's ear.
Avatar m tn There is some mild obstruction in the aorta beyond where the artery to the left arm comes off. Finally, the planned surgical approach will be a thoracotomy, which is through an incision on the side and back under the shoulder blade. I recommend that you discuss these questions with your primary cardiologist more completely so that your questions are answered appropriately.
Avatar f tn The tightness of the band is determined by the surgeon to cause a specific increase in pressure in the ventricle that is measured in the operating room. It is not made so tight as to prevent the ventricle from pumping the blood out of the chamber. It can cause some permanent narrowing to the pulmonary artery, but this can be augmented with a patch at the time of the subsequent surgery.
