Avatar m tn I live in Washington state and I have seen the commercials regarding a class action suit against the mesh used in hysterectomies. It appears to be a large litigation - you should probably check into it because from what you've said, your wife has most definitely been affected! As far as the doctors you have seen thus far ... they sound pretty worthless. You need to find a specialist for your wife.

They also ballooned the biliary tubes.

329165 tn?1515471990 s stomach must be empty a certain amount of time before the operation as this is important for safety for any operation. The surgeon conducting the operation would be able to detail specifics. With surgical procedures I know in the U.S. you can meetwith the surgeon beforehand and the anesthesiologist. They prepare you for the procedure. They can speak with your general physician and if needed your psychiatrist as well with release forms.
Avatar m tn Gastric bypass procedures (GBP) are any of a group of similar operations that first divides the stomach into a small upper pouch and a much larger lower "remaining" pouch and then re-arranges the small intestine to connect to both. Surgeons have developed several different ways to reconnect the intestine, thus leading to several different GBP names.

Avatar f tn In july, I developed a sensation of almost choking in my throat, and in august I woke up from sleep gasping for air. This put me in panic mode and I started researching everything. I don't get headaches, but get a "brainfreeze" to the back of my head that lasts about 10 seconds a few times a day. This doesn't bother me because I've had it since I was 10. I saw dr. Oro in January and he did recommend surgery and thought it might help the neck pain and swallowing issues.

Temporarily orthotic devices may be used to provide symptomatic relief, though a permanent cure may require a surgery in adults. It would be best to consult an orthopedician for a detailed review and appropriate management.
Avatar n tn I have a 'dropped surgical clip' in front of my bladder and have a lot of pain like a kidney stone stuck in the ureter. I had a ct scan to look for a stone and if I hadn't gotten my own copy of the report I might never have known it was in there. The report said no stone, so I have to wonder if the clip is causing the pain. If you know someone in the medical field, find out if there's someone they can ask. I have several nurses in my family I'm going to ask.

A lot of times daycare have a rule that babies are too stay home and cant come back 24h after the. last time they puke. Theres obviously a lot of questions to ask, i just dont know much about it.
Avatar n tn Sounds a reasonable programme of action - if the operation can be avoided without risk of allowing colon cancer to gain a foothold then that is surely preferable. At the risk of becoming boring, if an operation is eventually advised, I do feel that you should ensure that your proposed hospital/surgeon is 100% up to speed on the technique. For instance, how many total colectomies has he/she carried out - and over what period of time? And can the operation be performed laparoscopically?
Avatar n tn He will not tell the about the placement of the scar or the method he will use. This is at a teaching hospital (UVA medical center in Charlottesville VA) that is very respcetable. How should i go about getting the information to make an informed decision? Should I not have the right to have a say in an operation that will affect my sexual life? Any suggestion?
Avatar f tn I would STRONGLY advise you to look into a tech or community college. Kaplan and other for-profit colleges charge a lot of money, often their credits do not transfer to other universities. There have also been a few for profits that have closed because the federal government found them guilty of fraudulent practices and would no longer give their students loans. Not all colleges are created equal, make sure you do your homework. Student loan debt is not something you can get out of.
Avatar f tn Thus, surgical intervention is commonly indicated only if the growth of the tumor is life threatening or highly problematic from a medical or psychosocial point of view. For example, tumor growths that affect the ability of the eye to see, the ear to hear, or the passage of air in and out of the lungs are frequently candidates for surgical treatment. Tumors that have ulcerated are also common candidates for surgical treatment.
Avatar f tn We live in a med size town with 2 hospitals tried to get a 2 nd opion at other hosp. but was pretty much laughed out of there. said yea you have a hematoma and alot of scar tissue. Avatar n tn the doctor said that the gastrographing procedure confirmed that she had divertiticulitis and that she had to have a sectional colonectomy. what i found wierd is that the a couple of weeks before the operation is that she was having normal bowel movements but still having pain. shouldn't the inflammed intestine cause bits and pieces of feces like she was having before? after the operation he told me that he cut about 6-7 inches of her large intestine near the sigmoid.
Avatar f tn I know a lot of people who have had the surgery - of various ages - it does not matter. Chances of recovery all depend on surgical skill (experience is really needed here), the tumor itself - what has it wrapped around etc., Surgical recovery is pretty fast - it only takes a few weeks - but hormonal recovery can take years so that depends on the tumor and all. Side effects are purely dependent on if she needs hormonal replacement afterward and getting that balanced.
Avatar n tn Many attend four years of college or university. They also attend four years of podiatric medical college, studying medicine and some surgical procedures. They focus solely on the foot. Podiatrists are trained in biomechanics or proper foot balance and the making of customized shoe inserts called orthotics. A podiatrist graduates as a doctor of podiatric medicine, or DPM. Many also complete one year of a hospital residency. I hope this helps.
