Avatar f tn There are primary headaches that are not due to any underlying medical condition, and secondary headaches due to sinusitis, ear infection, head injury, blood vessel or brain tumor problem, cluster and tension headaches. The child might need an MRI head to rule out. Drugs like analgesics avoiding aspirin for reye’s syndrome, sumatriptan for migraines etc. consult a pediatric neurologist for appropriate advice. Hope this helps. Take care.
Avatar f tn If they stab you and you massage it and it goes away it is usually tension. If it lasts all day it may be a migraine headache. Since you are still a teenager I don't think you are supposed to take NSAIDs like Ibuprfen. So try two Tylenol and see if that helps lessen the pain. If they last all day or you are getting them every day I would then see a neurologist to get a electroencephalogram or EEG to see if it is a migraine.

Avatar m tn I have the same issue. I pop my neck because if I don't, I will get a tension headache (which is awful) but here recently I've noticed when I pop my neck I almost instantly get a deep pain in the right side of my head. Mine is in the temple region and moves down my neck.
Avatar f tn Also, they are on one side of the head, and usually around the eye. So... the starting point of your headache sounds like it is in the right place for a cluster headache. Also, them waking you up in the night sounds like cluster headaches too. These could also be migraines though... if you wouldn't describe the pain as the worst pain imaginable (worse than child birth... similar to or worse than torture)... but you would describe the pain as severe pain or moderate to severe pain...
Avatar n tn I used a moderate dose of adderall 2 days before the onset to help me grind out college apps. How might I go about relieving stress?
Avatar f tn It seems to help most of the time. I am also on sumatriptan for migraines. This was the first time I experienced this constant pain right behind my left eye. Thought the pain was from migraines so I took sumatriptan . So migraines are a throbbing pain on one side?
526022 tn?1231148784 I hope you do remember me complainig before of head heaviness and associated symptoms of slight dizziness, nape discomfort and slight numbness. 17339814 tn?1489798076 If you have no other SX and your pain is bilateral (both sides) than it sounds more like a nasty headache. There are Headache and Migraine Centers and/or Physicians that specialize in the treatment of Headaches and Migraines. If you are obtaining no pain relief or reasons from your current Medical Practitioner than it may be time to consult the specialists. I'd use your Search Engine to locate information on Migraines and Headaches. There is a lot of information available.
Avatar f tn I generally have more hours in a day with no headache or less of a headache. Only a chronic headache sufferer would think a few hours a day of feeling better is worth mentioning. If I was your age I would probably try Botox . I have MS, Fibromyalgia and brain aneurysms. I hope u r able to get some relief.
569892 tn?1353896337 This could be a tension headache due to stress. You also complain of pain in the neck. It is quite possible that the cause of pain could be cervical spondilitis or disc protrusion. I would suggest you to continue with the neck massages and exercises. Please take a second opinion with another neurologist.Take care!
Avatar n tn Apo-Indomethacin and Pms-Sumatriptan was prescribed to me by my doctor. I am also on progesterin to help reduce the amount of headaches, I have been using nasal sprays as well. Month six, no change. Blood tests shows no diabetes, Thyroid, liver or kidney problems. I have been sleeping about 13-14 hours a day. I have a swollen gland on the left side of the back of my neck and has been swollen for about five years, I don't know if it is related.
612876 tn?1355514495 I guess it works so well because it works so quickly, and as many migraineurs know, one of the keys to getting migraine meds to work is how soon you take them once you feel the headache starting. The sooner you catch it, the better the medicine seems to work so maybe that's why this injection is better than the pills. If anyone else has tried it, I'd love to hear what you think--good or bad.
Avatar n tn Started to have a headache in April after I had a injection in my hip. Thought it might be from the shot, but was told it wasn't. Was advised to go to ER if it continued, which it did. Went to Emergent Care where they gave me a shot of Tramadol which did nothing. So then I had a CT of Brain, which was normal. Told to follow up with neurologist, which I did.He advised it was tension headache. He tried muscle relaxants which did not work.
Avatar n tn Hi jane! I too suffer from frequent sever migraines and have tried every medicine in the book with no permanent results. Recently my roommate's mom told me about peppermint oil! It is a godsend!!!!! When i get the headache i just rub some peppermint oil on my forehead and my neck and within minutes it's gone! I can understand if you're skeptical about it, I was too but it's worth a shot. It can be expensive to get but try looking on this site. I got it for 10$ http://www.
3102503 tn?1341318713 I've been experiencing a headache every day for the past 4 months. It has gradually been getting worse as the weeks go on. My doctor prescribed me medication for chronic tensions which didn't help at all. Then she sent me for an MRI without contrast that came back negative. The headaches have always been worse first thing in the morning when I wake up. I have to sometimes get out of bed the second I wake because its that bad.
Avatar m tn The treatments of choice for acute cluster headache are oxygen (7 L per minute for 15 minutes), sumatriptan, or a combination of the two ….” Source:http://www.aafp.org/afp/20050215/717.html Prednisone has also been used to prevent any of the attacks. Avatar f tn Hello, I am a 28 yr old female, and I've been getting headaches for the past few months. I started getting them in January. I've never had headaches before. It just started one day, around 11am, a throbbing, sharp pain in my left temple, sort of behind the eye, lasted for about 15 min, and went away, and then came again about 2 hrs later, again about 15 min, went away, another few hours, again, etc. This lasted for about a week before I went to my doctor.
Avatar f tn I would like to know how long after taking Sumatriptan/Imitrex could any drowsiness side effect be considered to have worn off for when I get a migraine away from home and have no reasonable option to get home without driving myself. A few years ago, I got a migraine while some distance from home. I do not drive with a migraine.
Avatar f tn That is why I switched to trying not sumatriptan. But I think at this point that it could be that it is tension. Try rubbing it and relax when the first one hits. relax lay back an try not to tense up. It my take some practice. You may try having a meditation Ipod that you can have ready after the first one hits. Not if this doesn't work and Ibupropin doesn't work you may have a migraine that requires stronger meds. If not get a CT and rule out anything else.
Avatar n tn I have had a non stop headache for 3 years and 4 months, ive seen about 40 health specialts including Pycholigists, Pyschiatrists, Neuroligists, had scans, had every alternative therpay avaliable, tried anti deps, anti anxiety meds and basically everybody agrees it is still psychological. They say in rare cases trauma at a young age can come back in pyshical symptons later in life. The pain has also spread through face and ears and down arms at times.
Avatar f tn I should also note that the very first time i started getting these facial pain attacks, my first doctor thought it was migraines and prescribed me Sumatriptan. And the sumatriptan did take the pain away. And I have learned that sumatriptan helps with cluster headaches. Is there any other trigeminal neuralgia sufferers out there, who suffer the same symptoms as I do? Help me please I am very confused about this condition!!! Sarah.
