Sumatriptan not working

Common Questions and Answers about Sumatriptan not working

imitrex

Avatar n tn Hi! You have not reached the end of possibilities! There are lots of other medications to try. If the sumatriptan isn't working, i'd suggest trying another triptan. There are lots on the market. I use zomig nasal spray, it works fairly well... not 100%, but, it can stop a lot of my migraines. If zomig doesn't work for you, there are still tons of other triptans on the market.. maxalt... and try different types of delivery methods too. Are you taking tablets.
518798 tn?1295212279 I have noticed it is not working quite as well as it used to but at 55 I supposed it is time for something safer.
Avatar f tn s typical for me to have migraines on the back of my head rather than my left/right side of my head. Sumatriptan/Imitrex will work, but not how it used to. My migraines are worse than how it used to be, and I'm scared to take sumatriptan because 1) It may or may not work. 2) if it doesn't work, I am now 1 sumatriptan short. My gut feeling says something isn't right, but I don't know how to go about it. Yesterday morning I woke up around 4am with another migraine.
Avatar f tn I am not a doctor. But my neurologist prescribed both 10 mg of Amitriptyline and Imitrex. So I think it should be fine. You can ask a pharmacist or your doctor to make sure. But I am on both of those plus Trokendi XR and Clonazepam.
Avatar f tn My doctor prescribed me trazodone hydrochloride for anxiety, sumatriptan succinate for migraines, zopiclone for sleep, I've been told I can take the trazodone with zopiclone, but I have the new sumatriptan tablets, it says in the medical pamphlet that it is an MAO-A inhibitor and can't be taken with antidepressants/anxiety tablets. Would it be ok to take both the trazodone hydrochloride and the sumatriptin succinate together?
Avatar f tn Few days later tried different machine it read 202 at its highest. Think it just spiked for second. Was not at that rate the whole time. I did not notice it before starting the nortryptline. What med could be causing this? I did not notice it before starting the nortryptline.
Avatar f tn I had a migraine the other day that started in the back of my left eye and then went to my upper and lower teeth and gums. I was just recently told I have migraines not sinus problems. Was also told I have trigeminal neuralgia. I am starting to wonder if my face pain is related to my migraines and not TN.
Avatar n tn The day after the surgery my EP Dr put me on Propranolol daily and Sumatriptan to take when I get the headaches, but it doesn't seem to be working and the migraines keep coming. I've gotten 2 migraines today already. Has anyone experienced this after a heart ablation? did it go away? I cannot imagine having headaches like this for the rest of my life. They are debilitating. I can't go to work, I can't sleep, I can't eat, I can't do anything! HELP!!
Avatar f tn I should also note that the very first time i started getting these facial pain attacks, my first doctor thought it was migraines and prescribed me Sumatriptan. And the sumatriptan did take the pain away. And I have learned that sumatriptan helps with cluster headaches. Is there any other trigeminal neuralgia sufferers out there, who suffer the same symptoms as I do? Help me please I am very confused about this condition!!! Sarah.
Avatar f tn You could also see a cardiologist instead to give prescription medications if finding a neurologist is difficult. If OTC medications are not working, stronger prescription medications may be indicated. A headache journal may also help identify possible triggers that you could avoid. Take care and best regards.
Avatar f tn Hi.. daily simple activities and everything can be trigger for me. Once I'm awake in the morning migraine alredy started. Cold winds, aircon, dust, perfume, rains, heat, heater, humidifier, lights, food smells and many other things... everyday at least I have two triggers and sumatriptan help me so far together with topamax and many other beta blocker medicines..I've not try botox yet...
Avatar f tn I would like to know how long after taking Sumatriptan/Imitrex could any drowsiness side effect be considered to have worn off for when I get a migraine away from home and have no reasonable option to get home without driving myself. A few years ago, I got a migraine while some distance from home. I do not drive with a migraine.
Avatar f tn It not at all likely its your glasses. If it was you would have no headache without glasses and headache with them.
1102283 tn?1257817472 The Sumatriptan tablets work well for many people, so if they work well for you then that would be excellent and you can just stick to them as your only prescription. Although, due to the extremely low bioavailability of Sumatriptan tablets, they do not always work well for everyone (although Sumatriptan is still the most prescribed triptan on the market).
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with anxiety (again), and told that all my symptoms were a manifestation of said anxiety. I was prescribed Sumatriptan, propanolol, and naproxen. The medication was working, but it didn't last long. My symptoms have worsened, to the point where i cannot go up the stairs without having to stop due to shortness of breath, pain in my heart, and weakness in my legs. I almost always feel a tightness in my chest, and any pressure on my chest causes pain.
Avatar f tn If these headaches are cluster headaches or migraines, then parametemol/codeine are NOT the right type of treatment at all!!! Also, if you are suffering from icepick headaches... treatment with pain killer is usually pretty futile because the headache is gone was faster than any pain killer works... so, not a helpful treatment. If you are having migraines, you should be treating them with triptans.
Avatar n tn I wanted to know if it is ok to take my amitriptyline after i took my sumatriptan.? Can someone please help me? I took bith pills and i don't know if i was supposed to i can't remember what my doctor said.
Avatar n tn Do not get panicky, increase your will power and try to find the cause.Try meditation and relax your mind, think positive, enjoy as much as you can and surely you will find good results.Try to overcome your anxiety and trust the Almighty. All the best.
Avatar f tn No not yet i have an app in a couple of days
Avatar n tn Hi, How are you? Sumatriptan or Imigran tablets may or may not be taken with food. There are no special considerations with regards to alcohol but this may trigger or exacerbate migraine attack. 768044 tn?1294223436 I am currently taking Topamax and a betablocker called Nadolol. I am also taking 300mg of Coenzyme Q10 a day. I recently got botox injections too. I think that the topamax might have helped with the chronic pain. And, I think that the botox helped a bit too. I don't know if the nadolol has helped at all... but, I am going to keep taking it for a few more months before I make up my mind about it. I also don't really know if the Coenzyme Q10 is working at all either, but...
Avatar f tn I am now taking sumatriptan injections which masks the pain and also have gone oxygen. I am still suffering daily and have had no success with any medication . I am still under a neurologist who are still not sure why I am getting these horrendous headaches , I have told them I get them when hot . My body overheats and doesn't cool like my temperature gauge is broken.
