Avatar f tn There are some types of migraine that present with numbness also and even with the absence of headache and presence of just aura symptoms like sensitivity to light and sound, nausea or vomiting. Was the sumatriptan effective in reducing the pain? Check with your doctor if it does not improve for proper evaluation. Take care always.
1102283 tn?1257817472 But, due to cost constraints, I would suggest getting a prescription for the cheapest generic triptan which is called Sumatriptan tablets. The Sumatriptan tablets work well for many people, so if they work well for you then that would be excellent and you can just stick to them as your only prescription. Although, due to the extremely low bioavailability of Sumatriptan tablets, they do not always work well for everyone (although Sumatriptan is still the most prescribed triptan on the market).
Avatar f tn I have a migraine of some degree about 28 days of the month. I get Botox injections, am on Topomax, Sumatriptan, anti nausea meds...the whole works. My life was changed in an instant. I am wondering if anyone has had a similar incident, and recovered??? None of my doctors can say if I will ever be free of these migraines...
Avatar n tn Hello Dear, Your symptoms resemble those of migraine. Symptoms of a migraine may include sensitivity to light and sound, nausea, auras (loss of vision in one eye or tunnel vision), difficulty of speech and intense pain predominating on one side of the head You can also try for sumatriptan in combination with NSAID like naproxen.
Avatar f tn t believe it is that, is it chronic migraine - I have no other symptoms i.e. nausea, visual disturbances, aura and I can look into bright light.
1761287 tn?1313824787 Hello...I have always suffered severe knock-you-on-your-booty migraines. There are generalized in either my temples or behind my eyes...like in my forehead. Bright lights hurt more than sound, but sound does hurt if there is too much bass. Sometimes, associated with nausea & dizziness. They are worse right before my periods. Sometimes, popsicles help. I don't know if this matters, but I have to wear earpugs to sleep & play waves really loud because of my loud neighbors.
Avatar n tn As soon as they were finished with the ablation, before they rolled me out of the cath lab, I started getting a migraine (blurry vision, followed by headache from hell, nausea, vomiting). Before my heart ablation I would get a migraine 3-4 times a year. I have been getting them since i was a teenager (I am now 34). Since the surgery, I have gotten 1-2 migraine headaches EVERY DAY (I'm on day 5 since my surgery). Sometime I get one in the middle of the night while I'm sleeping.
Avatar n tn Is nausea, vomiting associated with the headache? You can also try for sumatriptan in combination with NSAID like naproxen.
Avatar f tn My doctor prescribed me trazodone hydrochloride for anxiety, sumatriptan succinate for migraines, zopiclone for sleep, I've been told I can take the trazodone with zopiclone, but I have the new sumatriptan tablets, it says in the medical pamphlet that it is an MAO-A inhibitor and can't be taken with antidepressants/anxiety tablets. Would it be ok to take both the trazodone hydrochloride and the sumatriptin succinate together?
Avatar f tn 2 times in a day, only twice in a week). My mom has her own medical problems, which include migraines, so I'm switching to her neuro. I've been waiting about 6 months for my appointment, which is finally coming up in March. This guy is very popular, so getting your first appointment is a long wait. I used to feel like my migraines were controllable; they didn't own me, I owned them kind of thing...
Avatar n tn Apo-Indomethacin and Pms-Sumatriptan was prescribed to me by my doctor. I am also on progesterin to help reduce the amount of headaches, I have been using nasal sprays as well. Month six, no change. Blood tests shows no diabetes, Thyroid, liver or kidney problems. I have been sleeping about 13-14 hours a day. I have a swollen gland on the left side of the back of my neck and has been swollen for about five years, I don't know if it is related.
Avatar f tn I started taking Topamax to prevent the migraines. I rarely get them but if I do, I take Sumatriptan that knocks it out. One side effect of the Topamax is weight loss. Most people lose 20% of their body weight fairly quickly. I strongly recommend you make an appointment with a neurologist. Best of luck!
Avatar f tn I should also note that the very first time i started getting these facial pain attacks, my first doctor thought it was migraines and prescribed me Sumatriptan. And the sumatriptan did take the pain away. And I have learned that sumatriptan helps with cluster headaches. Is there any other trigeminal neuralgia sufferers out there, who suffer the same symptoms as I do? Help me please I am very confused about this condition!!! Sarah.
3102503 tn?1341318713 I have woken up at about 4am countless times with bad nausea, having to induce vomiting before I feel better and everyday I deal with nausea on a low scale. Over the counter pain medication has no affect either. I am getting so sick of it and my next appointment with my doctor isn't for a while. Has anyone experienced the same thing? If so what was wrong and how did you fix it?
Avatar n tn I wanted to know if it is ok to take my amitriptyline after i took my sumatriptan.? Can someone please help me? I took bith pills and i don't know if i was supposed to i can't remember what my doctor said.
Avatar f tn I would like to know how long after taking Sumatriptan/Imitrex could any drowsiness side effect be considered to have worn off for when I get a migraine away from home and have no reasonable option to get home without driving myself. A few years ago, I got a migraine while some distance from home. I do not drive with a migraine.
Avatar f tn What type of headaches did the doctors say you had? This sounds like you might be suffering from "cluster headaches". Cluster headaches are the worst pain that exists pretty much... so, your description of being shot makes me think of that. Also, they are on one side of the head, and usually around the eye. So... the starting point of your headache sounds like it is in the right place for a cluster headache. Also, them waking you up in the night sounds like cluster headaches too.
Avatar f tn If it is then you may be able to get meds such as sumatriptan to help. It depends on how bad it is. Do you ever get a aura, before the headache? This looks like wiggly or wavy colorful lines that move and then over time get larger in your field of vision? Also, sometimes you can get nausea and/or vomiting before or after stress or before or after the headache. If not it may just be the tension that I was talking about.
Avatar n tn have you tryed sumatriptan for the pain? i have the same thing your describing, but i do have periods of remmission.. maybe only a few hours at the most. for the most part i take sumatriptan for the pain. i have no idea why it works but it works for me. if you've been on it than maybe it doesnt work, but if you havent been on it, ask your doc about it. hope any of this helps!
Avatar m tn The thought behind being cool is that the pain is a result of swelling in the nasal cavity/sinuses that presses against a nerve or something and keeping cool means the swelling doesn’t happen. He can take Sumatriptan tablets, which help reduce blood vessels, and these seem to work but he's limited to 8 a month. The feeling he has is that there is a blockage or the nasal valve in the right nostril has collapsed or malfunctioned.
Avatar n tn Hi, How are you? Sumatriptan or Imigran tablets may or may not be taken with food. There are no special considerations with regards to alcohol but this may trigger or exacerbate migraine attack. 1487040 tn?1288078267 Greetings from Kent, UK I wonder if you can tell me if you are aware of any link between changes in migraine symptoms and cervical spondylosis? I have had migraines for 30 years+ characherized by left sided headache, nausea, 'crying' left eye and blocked nose that if left unchecked will usually run for 3-5 days. Two years ago I was started on Sumatriptan with excellent results with the inevitable proviso that this has to be taken at the earliest sign of a migraine starting.
Avatar n tn My GP has given me Sumatriptan 50mg tablets which are not helping in anyway also i am taking paracetamol on a regular basis . My GP thinks the pains are a Migraine but i am worried more now as the pains are getting worse . Sleep is being affected and so is my personality .
Avatar f tn They are typical migraines - severe, pounding headache on one side (usually the left for me), light sensitivity, sound sensitivity, nausea/vomiting. I would typically just try and "ride it out" - taking my normal meds, going in a dark, quiet room and trying to stay as still as possible until the headache, etc., would pass. However, since I had so many the week before last, I decided it was time to ask my doctor about them when I saw him last week.
Avatar m tn For headache relief there are anti-inflammatories or a triptan medication (such as sumatriptan) which targets seratonin (good for my headaches). I've also once tried ergotamines which were effective but I didnt like the side-effects and discontinued because my headaches don't come with nausea and I'd rather put up with them than use heavy medications like ergotamine. Personally, I'm going to try hypnotherapy because my own headaches are only precipated by solo-orgasm (i.e.
Avatar f tn Some people have success treating migraine with ibuprofin (such as advil). For me nothing works except sumatriptan (such as imitrex) for you need a prescription.
Avatar f tn I am now taking sumatriptan injections which masks the pain and also have gone oxygen. I am still suffering daily and have had no success with any medication . I am still under a neurologist who are still not sure why I am getting these horrendous headaches , I have told them I get them when hot . My body overheats and doesn't cool like my temperature gauge is broken.
