Avatar f tn The facial pain may be caused mainly by TN since migraine headaches are associated with one-sided throbbing headaches and sometimes numbing of different body parts such as the extremities and face. Medications or surgery are often done to manage TN while avoiding the migraine triggers and prescription medications help with the headaches. If it persists, check with your doctor for proper management. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn Triptans are migraine medications that interupt the physiology of a migraine and STOP the migraine from happening. Migraine is much more than just pain, so taking pain killer for migraine is only treating one part of the migraine and not actually stopping the migraine... which is why so often the pain killers don't even touch the pain or the pain will return. If you are having migraines, you should really be treating them with proper migraine medications.
1102283 tn?1257817472 Metoclopramide can also be taken along with other migraine medications, such as triptans or analgesics, in order to increase the effectiveness of the other headache medications. Metoclopramide is a useful part of my acute migraine treatment plan, I often take it if both my Zomig and my Naproxen fail to completely relieve my migraine pain. I will also use my Metoclopramide if I am feeling nausea due to my migraines, and the Metoclopramide completely takes away my nausea symptoms.
Avatar n tn When I first went on it, I went for over 3 months without so much a daily headache. Before that I was getting some sort of headache every day with migraines 2-3X a week. Some insurances may not pay for this as it is not marketed for this pupose. Some docs may not know about this. My headache specialist put me on this. Hope this info helps.

Avatar f tn Yesterday morning I woke up around 4am with another migraine. I took my sumatriptan, and the migraine was gone when I woke up again. I commuted to my college, and went about my day. Yesterday evening it came back (maybe a rebound?). Knowing that it typically gets worse, I took a sumatriptan before bed. Last night, I woke up every hour desperate for relief. Ice didn't work. Changing my position didn't work.

Avatar m tn Have been diagnosed with migraines but the correlation of cracking my neck then having a wretched headache (with migraine attributes--which yours sounds like as well--bilateral/suborbital pain) is just too odd AND Yet occurs too regularly to be coincidence!!! Have you found a solution and/or come across any medical literature that explains a link btw the two?

A few years ago, I got a migraine while some distance from home. I do not drive with a migraine.

Avatar f tn Cannot tolerate side effects. Sumatriptan injection quickly aborts but only allotted so much per month. Almost out of injections and has no pain relief. Neuro dropped her as patient and advised to find another neuro. He states cant do any thing more fr her. Been to ER. No help. Referred to neuro. Can't get in for 3 weeks. They feel no urgency. Also dr adv her she as penial cyst but not the reason for the pain....he states has had cyst since birth?? Cannot function.
Avatar n tn - injection with sumatriptan (assuming you have not already taken the replex) - IV liquids (at least one liter i believe is the standard... but you can trust the hospital with giving you enough) - morphine. this will make you feel sick and disgusting. if they say they are giving you morphine, ask for hydromorphone... it is more expensive (if you live in america, much more expensive for you...
Avatar f tn That is kinda why I posted this question. I knew that when a prodrome comes the migraine headache is not long off. So, can you do anything while in prodrome that can stop the headache from coming? Well, if you want to talk more about mit just friend me and we can talk more one on one. Hope to hear from you soon, and good luck.
Avatar n tn Hello Dear, Your symptoms resemble those of migraine. Symptoms of a migraine may include sensitivity to light and sound, nausea, auras (loss of vision in one eye or tunnel vision), difficulty of speech and intense pain predominating on one side of the head You can also try for sumatriptan in combination with NSAID like naproxen.

Avatar f tn Some people have success treating migraine with ibuprofin (such as advil). For me nothing works except sumatriptan (such as imitrex) for you need a prescription.
776539 tn?1235582251 Hi, The first thing to do would be to maintain a headache diary or use the migraine tracker to identify the triggers for your migraine. Red wine, caffeine, processed meats, aged cheese, chocolates, MSG and artificial sweeteners are common migraine triggers. I would also suggest you to take magnesium supplements which have shown very good results in reducing the frequency of migraines. You will need medications like Imitrex to abort the attack once it has started.
Avatar f tn Migraine headaches can be brought on by triggers, like stress, anxiety, chocolate, oranges, cheese, red wine, lack of sleep, glaring at a computer for too long. Everyone is different, so if one food triggers a migraine headache for someone it does not mean that that will be your trigger. There are also prescription medications specifically for migraines. The other causes of headaches could be from blood pressure, either being too low or too high.
Avatar f tn Also, this type primary headache may be present in ombination with other types like migraine or luster headaches. Check with your doctor for proper evaluation. Prescription medications like ergotamine, sumatriptan or intranasal application of local anesthetic agent may help. Try also to avoid the triggers that you mentioned. Take care and do keep us posted.
