Avatar f tn It seems to help most of the time. I am also on sumatriptan for migraines. This was the first time I experienced this constant pain right behind my left eye. Thought the pain was from migraines so I took sumatriptan . So migraines are a throbbing pain on one side?

Avatar f tn Hi. Not sure If this is the right place to post this but I am a 19 year old girl with no severe health problems but over the past 6 weeks or so I get a reoccurring stabbing head ache above my right eyebrow in the middle of my forehead. The actual size of where it hurts is no bigger than my fingertip but I get it 3-4 times a week in the same place lasting for a few hours. I haven't banged it or had any trauma and have also tried sinus and decongest ion tablets incase I was a little bunged up.
Avatar f tn I am on beta-blockers to make it less likely that I will have one, but of course nothing works all the time and I still get them from time to time. I am on sumatriptan for when I do get them. My insurance covers it but only 10 for a month of the sumatriptan. Anyway, I think you can predict the migraines with the prodrome and aura symptoms. I do not have aura's so I don't get the vision problems or anything.
776539 tn?1235582251 Hi, The first thing to do would be to maintain a headache diary or use the migraine tracker to identify the triggers for your migraine. Red wine, caffeine, processed meats, aged cheese, chocolates, MSG and artificial sweeteners are common migraine triggers. I would also suggest you to take magnesium supplements which have shown very good results in reducing the frequency of migraines. You will need medications like Imitrex to abort the attack once it has started.
Avatar f tn Drugs like analgesics avoiding aspirin for reye’s syndrome, sumatriptan for migraines etc. consult a pediatric neurologist for appropriate advice. Hope this helps. Take care.
Avatar m tn Having seen an ENT, allergist, ophthalmologist, and a neurologist that I'm seeing for sleep apnea, many diagnosis (blocked tear duct, allergies, sinus infections, etc...) have been ruled out and all doctors have mention that my symptoms seem to be neurological. Cluster headache has been mentioned a lot. However my symptoms don't quite fit. My pain isn't continuous and not sharp-like.
Avatar f tn the starting point of your headache sounds like it is in the right place for a cluster headache. Also, them waking you up in the night sounds like cluster headaches too. These could also be migraines though... if you wouldn't describe the pain as the worst pain imaginable (worse than child birth... similar to or worse than torture)... but you would describe the pain as severe pain or moderate to severe pain... then it could be migraine headaches.
Avatar n tn Hi jane! I too suffer from frequent sever migraines and have tried every medicine in the book with no permanent results. Recently my roommate's mom told me about peppermint oil! It is a godsend!!!!! When i get the headache i just rub some peppermint oil on my forehead and my neck and within minutes it's gone! I can understand if you're skeptical about it, I was too but it's worth a shot. It can be expensive to get but try looking on this site. I got it for 10$ http://www.
Avatar n tn This morning he woke with what he described as a sinus headache, in other words it was behind his sinuses instead of the pain he usually suffers with migraine? We have been treating him with antihistamines and low dose aspirin, so therefore if sinus related, could he have built up an immunity to the drug? Can anybody please tell me if his problem could be the polyp? and what can we do about it. He is beside himself with worry and does not sleep more than between 4 and 5 hours per night. HELP!!!
Avatar m tn Verapamil has been shown to be effective for prophylaxis. For cluster headache completely refractory to all treatments, surgical modalities and newer interventions such as the implantation of stereotactic electrodes may be useful. Patients should be encouraged to avoid possible triggers such as smoking or alcohol consumption, especially during the cluster period. For knowing the complete treatment plan pl. Visit the site- http://www.aafp.org/afp/20050215/717.html. Hope this helps you.
Avatar f tn When I said I was fine, just waiting for my headache to clear up completely before driving home (he did not ask what medication I took), the officer asked for my driver's license and told me he would not allow me to drive home as I would be "driving under the influence". Fortunately, my brother was actually not travelling for business that day but he had to make a 90 mile round trip to get me and repeat the trip a few days later in order to retrieve my vehicle.
Avatar n tn maybe only a few hours at the most. for the most part i take sumatriptan for the pain. i have no idea why it works but it works for me. if you've been on it than maybe it doesnt work, but if you havent been on it, ask your doc about it. hope any of this helps!
Avatar f tn Check with your doctor for proper evaluation. Prescription medications like ergotamine, sumatriptan or intranasal application of local anesthetic agent may help. Try also to avoid the triggers that you mentioned. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn Some people have success treating migraine with ibuprofin (such as advil). For me nothing works except sumatriptan (such as imitrex) for you need a prescription.
Avatar f tn I should also note that the very first time i started getting these facial pain attacks, my first doctor thought it was migraines and prescribed me Sumatriptan. And the sumatriptan did take the pain away. And I have learned that sumatriptan helps with cluster headaches. Is there any other trigeminal neuralgia sufferers out there, who suffer the same symptoms as I do? Help me please I am very confused about this condition!!! Sarah.
Avatar f tn Has your husband been to a headache specialist? Where do u live? Google headache specialist in your area. I had 2 cluster headache cycles in my life and they are no joke almost makes migraines a piece of cake. There is also a support site called ****************.com. There are alot of treatment for cluster's. Usually the best is to sttart with a prednisone taper while starting verapamil of lithium high flow oxygen for aborting headaches. What are his symptom's .
Avatar f tn Hello, I am a 28 yr old female, and I've been getting headaches for the past few months. I started getting them in January. I've never had headaches before. It just started one day, around 11am, a throbbing, sharp pain in my left temple, sort of behind the eye, lasted for about 15 min, and went away, and then came again about 2 hrs later, again about 15 min, went away, another few hours, again, etc. This lasted for about a week before I went to my doctor.
Avatar m tn Once your done with that the headache should go away or a hot pad on the back of your neck for about 30 minutes and don't crack your neck then the headache should go away.
2112931 tn?1335098402 I'm going to have my first LP on May 15th and have been reading about taking lots of caffeine as well as drinking lots of water to help prevent the horrible headache that some do get. Since caffeine helps with migraines due to vessel constriction, I was curious if anyone has taken Sumatriptan for that? I have a prescription of that for migraines but haven't taken it yet. Just curious.
612876 tn?1355514495 I'm so glad you had success with it! I looked briefly at one of the links you provided and found the drug was sumatriptan, the same medication as imitrex. So unfortunately, it doesn't look like a solution for me. With sumatriptan pills, it could give me chest pains though I used to take it anyway. Injections (not needleless ones)-the first one seemed to work quite well and I went to a ballgame with my work afterward (back in the days I was working).
Avatar f tn I am 29 years old, diagnosed with Asthma and allergies. I have a headache almost every day. I know that sinus and allergies are often the cause to some of me headaches and I can usually tell the difference between a sinus headache and a "normal headache". I have been taking over the counter meds for headaches ever since I can remember. I am immune to Tylenol I think because of it.
