Avatar f tn I've have had chronic migraines for a few years. My current neuro has me on Nortriptyline (20mg every night) and Sumatriptan (100mg take when needed; MAX: 2 times in a day, only twice in a week). My mom has her own medical problems, which include migraines, so I'm switching to her neuro. I've been waiting about 6 months for my appointment, which is finally coming up in March. This guy is very popular, so getting your first appointment is a long wait.
Avatar f tn This was the first time I experienced this constant pain right behind my left eye. Thought the pain was from migraines so I took sumatriptan . So migraines are a throbbing pain on one side?
Avatar f tn I am now taking sumatriptan injections which masks the pain and also have gone oxygen. I am still suffering daily and have had no success with any medication . I am still under a neurologist who are still not sure why I am getting these horrendous headaches , I have told them I get them when hot . My body overheats and doesn't cool like my temperature gauge is broken.
Avatar n tn I have Headaches almost every day and Migraines about twice a week. Apo-Indomethacin and Pms-Sumatriptan was prescribed to me by my doctor. I am also on progesterin to help reduce the amount of headaches, I have been using nasal sprays as well. Month six, no change. Blood tests shows no diabetes, Thyroid, liver or kidney problems. I have been sleeping about 13-14 hours a day.
Avatar f tn My doctor prescribed me trazodone hydrochloride for anxiety, sumatriptan succinate for migraines, zopiclone for sleep, I've been told I can take the trazodone with zopiclone, but I have the new sumatriptan tablets, it says in the medical pamphlet that it is an MAO-A inhibitor and can't be taken with antidepressants/anxiety tablets. Would it be ok to take both the trazodone hydrochloride and the sumatriptin succinate together?
Avatar f tn I get a serious migraine every October and March that has to be handled with 1 to 2 rounds of steroids each time (the sumatriptan and daily preventive medicine are not enough) and alternative therapies like acupuncture and applied kinesiology. I eat an autoimmune paleo diet and it still doesn't prevent/reduce these migraines episodes. My question: Is there a seasonal component to these migraines?
Avatar f tn Hi.. daily simple activities and everything can be trigger for me. Once I'm awake in the morning migraine alredy started. Cold winds, aircon, dust, perfume, rains, heat, heater, humidifier, lights, food smells and many other things... everyday at least I have two triggers and sumatriptan help me so far together with topamax and many other beta blocker medicines..I've not try botox yet...
Avatar n tn These include ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin, others) or aspirin to help relieve mild migraines and combinations of acetaminophen, aspirin and caffeine specifically meant for moderate migraine attacks (Excedrin Migraine). The drugs of choice however are triptans such as Sumatriptan, rizatriptan, naratriptan, zolmitriptan, almotriptan, frovatriptan and eletriptan. You may need to try which of these medications works best for you, in consultation with your doctor.
Avatar f tn Hi there, There is no cure for migraines, but there are very effective treatments out there that can reduce the number of migraines to something that is completely manageable for a person. It sounds like your husband has begun to suffer from chronic migraines (15+ a month). That means he qualifies for daily medication. There are 3 types of daily medication: - Antidepressants: the one that is the most prescribed is called amitriptyline. i tried it and it didn't work for me at all...
Avatar f tn Hi Jenny, I went to see my GP this morning and he has put me on sumatriptan. I took one and got quite a tight chest and throat and felt a bit dizzy but after an hour that subsided. I still have my headache but the dull throb definately has improved, thanks for the suggestion. I have also been put on 900mg of gabapentin and I have to see him again in 2 weeks. If there is no improvement with that then I have to see my neurologist again.

Avatar f tn For the past 11 weeks i have been getting daily (some times more that once a day) headaches which at best can be described at feeling like I have been shot in the head just above and behine my ear and at worst in my head, into my ear and right down to my neck and sholder. I have been to the doctors 3 times but they just keep telling me to take paracetemol/codeine. Ordinary pain killers dont help.
1761287 tn?1313824787 Migraines usually respond to both preventive and acute medications as well as avoidance of triggers. If Sumatriptan does not work all the time, you need to inform your doctor for proper manageemnt. There are plenty of migraine medications available and sometimes you need to take several to determine the best medication for you. You may also benefit from evaluation by an ENT doctor to rule out ear issues as well. Biofeedback mechanism and other relaxation techniques may also help.
1102283 tn?1257817472 Does anyone have any other medication suggestions? I have never tried anything prescription for my migraines, and I think it would be helpful to hear some first hand stories before I go to the clinic. You see, I have no insurance, and have to use a free clinic. They are pretty much useless over there: if you don't know what you need before you get there, there is a good chance you'll come out with the completely wrong thing. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Avatar f tn I should also note that the very first time i started getting these facial pain attacks, my first doctor thought it was migraines and prescribed me Sumatriptan. And the sumatriptan did take the pain away. And I have learned that sumatriptan helps with cluster headaches. Is there any other trigeminal neuralgia sufferers out there, who suffer the same symptoms as I do? Help me please I am very confused about this condition!!! Sarah.
Avatar f tn ) and it was concluded that I suffered migraines. Typically when I was a child the migraines happened about once or twice a month and always happened when I was sleeping to where I would wake up with the migraine, have severe nausea and vomiting until mid morning and then I'd be fine. When I reached puberty, it slacked off a bit and around the age of 15 or so I started experiencing an aura beforehand.
Avatar m tn I have the same problem, I have had chronic migraines before pregnancy and they have gotten worse with this pregnancy. Just talk to your doc, I am sure there is something they can give you. I used to take percocets for my mine and they did tell me it was safe to continue taking them up until my third trimester.
Avatar f tn I have been going back and forth to my neurologist and pain clinic manager and both are getting upset at the fact that they can't pin-point the problem. I have had 3 ONB done and they don't really do much for me except taking the pain away for only 6 hours when they are supose to work for up to 3-6 weeks. They want to cut out the nerve because they believe thats the problem. Do you think that this is a good idea? there is a chance it could work for 3 years or more.
Avatar f tn I used to take a lot of OTC like Tylenol and Advil to kill the pain. None of these gave me complete relief, and often made my headache worse. I was amazed when Sumatriptan came out in the 90's, as this is the only medication that really works for me. I take it in the form of Imitrex and Maxalt. I wish you and your son the best.
Avatar f tn If in fact you have tried several daily preventative meds, and are getting migraines at least 15 days a month, then you would be a very good candidate for Botox injections working for you. Or you could try nerve block and trigger point injections which work best for occipital nerve migraines. Let me know if you have in fact taken any of the preventative meds. Wish you the best.

Avatar f tn I am on my second week of incivek, riba and peg. I have horrible migraines and afraid to keep taking tylenol and ibup. Has anyone else have or had the problem?
768044 tn?1294223436 m in the middle of fibro flares and really bad migraines, so the fatigue and pain are really bad right now. From what I understand, just having migraines will cause this fatigue, too. Many of the symptoms will overlap between the fibro and the migraines. I think the endoscopy triggered the fibro flares I'm having right now.
612876 tn?1355514495 I looked briefly at one of the links you provided and found the drug was sumatriptan, the same medication as imitrex. So unfortunately, it doesn't look like a solution for me. With sumatriptan pills, it could give me chest pains though I used to take it anyway. Injections (not needleless ones)-the first one seemed to work quite well and I went to a ballgame with my work afterward (back in the days I was working).
Avatar m tn What is going on in there and is there anyway to head it off before it starts. I take sumatriptan, it helps but after its already started.
