Common Questions and Answers about Suboxone withdrawal forum

suboxone

Avatar m tn But your advice is spot-on-- sassy has to go through withdrawal from the lortabs, which was postponed by taking Suboxone. The dose of hydrocodone and suboxone were not all that high, so the withdrawal won't be horrible- it should peak at about 3 days, and gradually improve after a week or two. By a month, I would think it should be about done-- but everyone is different. The suggestions about exercise and fluids are good ones.
Avatar f tn This is the substance abuse forum. Suboxone is just another opiate. When you are on that you are not "off drugs" I was addicted to hydro and anything I could get for the script run-out time. Mostly oxy, for 8 years. I have real pain also. But honestly my pain level is MUCH less than when I was taking 10 10mg hydro. a day. My quality of life since I stopped taking pain killers has improved beyond anything I could describe.
3160774 tn?1343705010 I went from over 200mg hydrocodone habit per day to Suboxone. I took suboxone for quite a while, but never experienced any withdrawal at all when transitioning, it worked very well for me. I saw that you are in Gilbert. I am from Mesa.
Avatar f tn Hey, have been dependant on methadone/ suboxone /subutex /methadone for 13 years. I returned to methadone as was best option during pregnancy.(fortunately baby had no withdrawal symptoms). Haven't used heroin for about 5 years but so scared of withdrawal, thought i would be on one of the above for life. Baby now 19mths & have been withdrawing slowly so can still fulfill parental (single). I am currently on 4mg and have conflicting info regarding what to do next.
Avatar f tn I am also aware of the many research studies that demonstrate less-severe withdrawal from Suboxone compared to withdrawal from agonists in 'blinded' research trials. Finally, a number of treatment centers use Suboxone as a 'tapering agent' to help people get through opiate withdrawal. Again, I talk in greater detail on the blog, but one final comment: the withdrawal is unusual in several aspects from what people usually expect.
Avatar m tn Good Morning, welcome to the forum. Suboxone is a very stong opiate and unfortunately it must be tapered down to about .5mg to avoid severe withdrawal. I too tried to jump off once at 2 mg and experienced withdrawal much more severe than my original drug of choice. Also, since the half life for suboxone is 37.5 hours, it typically takes over 24 hours for the first sign of withdrawal to even kick in. How long has it been since you took your last dose?
Avatar n tn Hi~ So,you've been off the hydro for a week? You took hydro AND Suboxone before? I would not take anything right now and get back to the neurologist for an evaluation for your headaches. There are non narcotic, very effective meds for Migraine. Also, the more hydro you take, the more frequent the headaches. It has a rebound effect.
Avatar f tn Hi welcome to the forum according to the physicians desk reference you need to get down to 20mg of methadone b/4 you can think about sub then it will take a good 3 to 5 days b/4 you can take sub if your going to take it it should be under a doctors care both methadone and sub are strong narcotics please dont try this alone..
Avatar m tn If I am 12 to 24 hours out from taking my last hydro and in moderate withdrawal, will the suboxone get me out of withdrawal? Does it do that?
Avatar n tn Trust me it is more mental, you will feel leg restless, but it is a joke comparing with real withdrawal l.This people that compare Suboxone with full opiates, are completely subjective.I also quit few years ago 2 mg.If you pass the fifth day,you will be fine.Dont think to much,do a lot of hot bath and take gaba and L theanine ,magnesium and kava kava. You also can use for few days , blue bird poppy seed tea just for sleep.
Avatar f tn Could I get a little feedback on the duration of Suboxone withdrawal? I just read where someone said it has been 45 days and they are still not quite there. If this is the case, I plan to make an appointment with my shrink tomorrow so I can beat the livin' daylights out of him. He told me about 5 days. This is the man that prescribes Suboxone. I was addicted to opiods for 18 years. I might even be a good resource on hard core withdrawal. I have been through it more than two dozen times.
217599 tn?1202850952 is this the forum i would come into to learn more about suboxone treatment to get off of my extremely high dosages of oxys, morphine and valium? i am scheduled to start the program next week, and really scared of the 16 hourwd. time i have to go through to be able to take it. my dr. is a pain specialist, but he is three hours away, so we will be doing a lot of adjustments over the phone. i am already off of the valium, and will be for 2 weeks by the time i start the sub.
Avatar f tn 5mg and go for it, so I will keep everyone posted as I do that, but one thing you learn when you research Suboxone on this forum is this. EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT. I agree with Tyson on everything really. Get a doctor who cares. Taper slowly and go as low as crumbs. Set a plan and stick with it. Expect some minor withdrawls when you get to nothing, but you should hopefully be able to tolerate it. You know...it definately is somewhat in our heads, but we shouldn't ignore how we feel.
Avatar f tn I suffered some pretty severe withdrawal. I was on suboxone for 2 1/2 years. And Yes, I too hated the little orange demons I grew to rely on so badly. But HAPPILY, VERY HAPPILY I can report that I took my last suboxone on 9/2/08 and am feeling GREAT. Physically and mentally. I havent felt this good in a many many years. SO there is life after suboxone. Talk to your doc about a proper taper and get yourself ready. When the time is right, you can quit.
Avatar f tn Hey I was wondering if anyone knew if while I was trying to withdrawal from methadone. I started to use my DOC again and I am going to try a withdrawal using small amounts of suboxone for 3-4 days and then nothing. A friend is locking me in his house (he is a nurse) and going to try and help me.
Avatar f tn 30pm as soon as i got home on monday, and it worked like a charm. i felt better immediately, and i actually felt better than i had felt on the roxi's those days i was abusing it. the 2 things i wanted people to get from this story are: (1) the consistency and normalcy of suboxone is better than the roller coaster high of oxycodone, and (2) if you fall off the wagon for a few days, the precipitated withdrawal will likely not be an issue. just wait 12-18 hours and take your suboxone.
Avatar f tn I was on suboxone for nearly 4 years and tried doing what you suggesting and quit off 2mg. The withdrawal was pure he!! just from 2 mg. Suboxone is very strong and has a half life of 37 hours, so the withdrawal is much longer and drawn out. I personally could not even taper and ended up going through an 8 day medical detox that was quite expensive, but to me it was worth every cent. Please taper down to below 1mg, it's best to quit suboxone at around .5mg for minimal withdrawal.
Avatar n tn Like I said, I took my last hydrocodone (3 pills, 10mg each) dose 37 hours ago, I want to take 2mg of suboxone, but do NOT want to risk precipitated withdrawal. I am already not feeling too great, the 2nd day of my detox's are always the worst. I've detoxed many many times, but the last time i took suboxone and for the first time in 9 years I actually went through an entire day without even thinking of how I was gonna get pills and how bad I wanted them.
Avatar f tn Sorry but Pain management often is opiates use. If yes then both are the same when it comes to switching to Suboxone, just as dangerous if not done properly. I would recommend scraping the injection to start, and do micro switch with pills, no detox feel, and safe. Eventually injection when stable...
Avatar n tn Six months ago I used Suboxone to get off a 640mg habit. Did real good until I hurt my back. I got real depressed with lots of pain and started to take them again. I'd like to get off and heard of tramadol helping. Suboxone withdrawal was awful for me. This site makes tramadol sound like a bad idea. Beginning to think I have to go away or go to rapid detox.
Avatar f tn I went and was taken off demerol by using suboxone. This was to enable me to go have a pain pump with Prialt installed. I am now with the pump, thank the powers that be, but now having to go through the withdrawal symptoms again. Since it is a different drug will I have the same impossible suffering? Doing this through a doctor but I don't want all the other drugs in me if at all possible. Scary that I went through all that for them to place me on yet another opiate.
