Hey, have been dependant on methadone/ suboxone /subutex /methadone for 13 years. I returned to methadone as was best option during pregnancy.(fortunately baby had no withdrawal symptoms). Haven't used heroin for about 5 years but so scared of withdrawal, thought i would be on one of the above for life. Baby now 19mths & have been withdrawing slowly so can still fulfill parental (single). I am currently on 4mg and have conflicting info regarding what to do next.
How long were you on boxs? I've been in the clinic for 2 weeks and doing one a day. Will I detox?
Tramadol might help with withdrawls but it's not a narcotic soo I dunno man. But I was on about 10 10mg hydrocodone ,1 to 2 40 mg oxys, about 2-5 somas a day, mind it if I made more money at work that week( commission job) it was significantly more that that, with fentanyl suckers/ patches, the 100mcg, oxymorphone, roxys, ect. But I got on suboxone,and that helped with the withdrawls better than anything and it's not methadone.
He also said that if I did not want to use the suboxone he would help me withdrawal from the tram using klonipin and other meds to ease the discomfort......he was actually pretty compassionate. However, I am not trusting of the medical profession and the loseness at which these sorts of things are perscribed and we well, here we are!!!
The idea is the patch keeps you from feeling the effects of the suboxone withdrawal. My Doctor said it takes on average three months for suboxone to leave the blood stream. In my case it took longer. I've been off suboxone since may 2008, and off fentanyl since august 2008. I'm still a wreck, fatigue, loose stoole, depression, anxiety, insomnia, constant sneezing, stuffy nose, watery eyes, etc....I've been off of everything for one month, and things got worse before they got better.

I was withdrawing pretty bad before I took it but the suboxone did not take the heroin withdrawal symptoms away. He did not go over the COWS scale with me but did give me guidelines on when to take my first dose. I will definitely google the COWS scale and maybe this time it will work.
I would have never thought after six weeks you could still feel like day one of withdrawal. So my other question is how is Suboxone withdrawal compared to methadone withdrawal.
Suboxone is a very stong opiate and unfortunately it must be tapered down to about .5mg to avoid severe withdrawal. I too tried to jump off once at 2 mg and experienced withdrawal much more severe than my original drug of choice. Also, since the half life for suboxone is 37.5 hours, it typically takes over 24 hours for the first sign of withdrawal to even kick in. How long has it been since you took your last dose? If it's been a few days, try cutting your 2mg dose in half.
I see my therapist and my psych doc's on Tuesday and I've been doing a ton of research on Vicodin addiction. The #1 thing that kept coming up was this medicine called suboxone..I've never heard of it besides on here and that people have become addicted to it, and have abused it. I've been up all night due to a little binge (the ingredients: an 8 ball of coke, a couple bags of heroin, and 5 klonopins) and have been reading the posts on here for over 2 hours.
I've been on suboxone a lil over 2years. I was addicted to Laura tabs and opanas for about a year and a half. I wanted to try and get clean but the withdrawals was too much seeing I worked 40+ hours around the clock so my buddy hooked me up with a couple of subs saying they would help me get off opiates which they did but I slowly started to get addicted to the suboxone. Next thing I know I'm buying them every week off the street.
Are you under a doctor's care with the Suboxone? If so, you need to follow the doctor's instructions. Suboxone is not just a pill to ward off withdrawal, it is a complete program which usually includes counseling, etc.
If you are taking Suboxone which you purchased on the street, we cannot give you dosing advise. It is a violation of our guidelines. Sorry and I wish you the best.
based on what i heard in your post is that .. your switching to suboxone and the doc wants you to start the suboxone having gone a full day into withdrawl..if that is the situation it makes sense reasoning being when you take suboxone ( not subutex) it conrains Nalaxone and Nalaxone will send you into full withdrawl. So this is why u must be already in w/d to take it.. i hope that helps..
It is best take suboxone while your already in withdrawal. Because if you have fentanyl in your system as you take the suboxone, the suboxone will kick out all of the remaining fentanyl in your system causing you to feel uncomfortable. So take the suboxon as your in withdraw. The physician that prescribe it would rather see you walk in the office in withdrawal mode rather than high mode.
Trust me it is more mental,you will feel leg restless,but it is a joke comparing with real withdrawal l.This people that compare Suboxone with full opiates,are completely subjective.I also quit few years ago 2 mg.If you pass the fifth day,you will be fine.Dont think to much,do a lot of hot bath and take gaba and L theanine ,magnesium and kava kava.You also can use for few days , blue bird poppy seed tea just for sleep.
How long will suboxone withdrawal last? I am at 39 days off suboxone and still experiencing mild withdrawal. I was on sub. for around 2 1/2 yrs. and jumped off at 12mg. It is definitely not as bad as the first few weeks but this is lasting forever. I had to withdraw from college this quarter and haven't been back to work for a while. Is anyone going through the same situation?
But your advice is spot-on-- sassy has to go through withdrawal from the lortabs, which was postponed by taking Suboxone. The dose of hydrocodone and suboxone were not all that high, so the withdrawal won't be horrible- it should peak at about 3 days, and gradually improve after a week or two. By a month, I would think it should be about done-- but everyone is different. The suggestions about exercise and fluids are good ones.
