Common Questions and Answers about Suboxone with alcohol medical questions

suboxone

Avatar f tn From what I understand about the rules of this forum, we are not allowed to give medical advice. However, if you could describe your symptoms, and how long they have been going on, myself, or someone else with "experience" in the medical field, could help you out by not giving you any medical advice. Whatyou would need to describe is, the frequency of your bloody emesis. What color it is. What it looks like. (bright red? Dark red? Clots? Does it look like coffee grounds? Etc.
Avatar n tn I was on Sub too and they gave me ambien to take with it. they just said no matter what dont drink alcohol with the Ambien.
Avatar f tn I may have misunderstood the information I read regarding suboxone, but I was under the impresson that using another narcotic along with suboxone would throw you into withdrawals? Someone please explain this to me. I just got out of a detox hospital where I was first given "Subutex" then "Soboxone, due to long-term use of "Oxycontin" and chronic pain. I've been on it for about one week now.
Avatar f tn Can anyone share with me there experence with Suboxone. I have been taking it for 3 days now and have been clean for 3 day it totally takes the cravings away but it does make me a little sleepy at times. I do still think about pills but I am not craving them I am just looking to get some support and communicate with other people that understand what I am going through.
Avatar n tn Hello. I successfully transferred from methadone to suboxone and then quickly tapered off the suboxone over 3 and a half years ago. I did a methadone taper at home over the course of 6-7 months(?), reducing 5 mgs every week. Once I had lowered my methadone dose below 30mgs I checked into a residential medical detox facility. I was required to go 48 hours without methadone before I was allowed my initial dose of suboxone which was titrated every 4 hours untill I felt no discomfort.
Avatar f tn This facility does not do suboxone (she got her previous bit of suboxone illegally), but rather naltrexone. They do not do implants, just pills and Vivtrol. My first question is whether she will be able to take the naltrexone immediately--it will have been 11 days since she took the Suboxone, the only time she has taken it. I hear one is supposed to wait 14 days, but as it was just once and a low dose, I am wondering whether an 11 day waiting time is sufficient.
Avatar f tn Is there anyway that mixing alcohol with suboxone would cause my feet to swell up?
Avatar f tn The danger with mixing Suboxone/ Subutex with alcohol is the same as mixing any opiate with alcohol. They are both respiratory depressants. You may drink all night long and never notice a problem. Then you go to sleep and die of pulmonary failure. Since you mention you really don't like to drink anyway, why are you allowing your so-called friends to dictate your behavior? If they ask why you aren't drinking, just tell them the truth - you don't like it!
Avatar m tn He refered me to a board certified psychiatrist with focus on addiction who also runs a Suboxone program. The same doctor can help with the addiction and my anxiety/depression issues. I had my first meeting today and i feel good about life for the first time in forever. I have a physical next week with a well thought of internist to check on everything else. Hopefully all is well health wise but we'll see. I'm committed to being clean. Damn the odds right.
Avatar n tn I remeber thinking that I've really got to stop with the pain killers because they're ruining my life. Yet I told no one. I was afraid of losing my safety net if I changed my mind. One of the first steps was talking to my doctor about it. I was nervous sure, but then again this man has seen me naked and stuck fingers in places that even I wouldn't go, put into perspective he/her is a medical proffesional and this is a medical problem.
Avatar f tn I have just recently been diagnosed with an unknown seizure disorder which left me with a stage 4 brain injury. I have Addison’s Disease, Sjogren’s, Raynaud’s, hypertension and blockages in my leg, right shoulder and left kidney. I have found that if your med list contains opioids they will not treat you the same. I had to find a new neurologist due to this.
822153 tn?1333062995 He could not handle his cravings for loratabs with the use of suboxone. Suboxone has reduced his cravings to the point where they are manageable. I am concerned about substituting one drug for another. In the long run he will have to be taken off suboxone it is working right now. I will send you a message with more details.
Avatar f tn until I decided that since I never liked alcohol, I could go ahead and drink a glass of wine with dinner now and then... that was the start of a process that led to my own relapse in 2000.
Avatar m tn I am just terrified of withdrawals having almost died coming off dilaudid years ago. Long story short, started using hydros about a year ago mixed with alcohol. Went into hospital for alcolohol toxicity and DT's and came out off hydros without having to go thru withdrawal. Given a gift that I did not take advantage of. I got on antabuse and it has been a wonderful. I have not had any alcohol or thoughts thereof for six months.
Avatar n tn m kind of curious about this cold thing, because with my medical history, I suspect I was exposed/infected with HPV in 1978/1979. That following year (1979-1980) I had at least 3 or 4 bad colds which lingered. Thanks for your help.
Avatar m tn Hi all First post I'm not sure if I'm developing a damaging relationship with alcohol. Certainly it appears to have changed. I will give a little background and then pose some questions which I hope esteemed members, particularly those from an academic or professional background in alcohol services, may be able to answer.
