suboxone

1481358 tn?1288295091 For any casual readers, the FDA only approved Suboxone for a short-term, 21-day detox from opiates. Long-term consequences from using Suboxone/ Subutex as a maintenance drug have not yet been formally studied, but plenty of people on this forum can testify to the adverse effects. Generally speaking, the longer you're on it, the longer and more horrific your detox experience will be. Sub is not a magic pill that will get you through detoxing from your drug of choice pain-free.
Avatar m tn After being put through changing my medicine from methadone to morphine to fentenyl patches(4 times the strength they should have been) and told I was lucky to be alive) I was changed to suboxone last Wednesday. This was in order to safe me from the awful mess I was in. I have been able to come down from 16mg. to about 4mg. It has not been easy and I think I am probably doing it too fast. I may have to increase it some in order to live my life.
Avatar n tn 4mg is a very large amount to jump from. Those who have had the best successful stories concerning suboxone withdrawal ultimately got down to tiny crumbs or slivers of suboxone before quitting.. Unfortunately long term suboxone users have no way to do this pain free. There will be withdrawal. Everyone's story is differnt but the good stories I have heard are from those who went down to teeeny tiny amounts.
1895503 tn?1332373374 I have been tapering from Suboxone, which I got on about 8 weeks ago (when I got off Opana ER). I started getting pretty bad panic attacks at home, which were similar to ones I experienced when tapering from Opana ER. Fortunantly, I was able to go inpatient and have gone from 16 mg to 2 mg (each day) of Suboxone. This took 7 days, which I know is pretty fast. I am doing pretty well most of the time (thanks to the comfort meds).
422795 tn?1293301409 I am happy to report that I am free of pain pills, April 5th was my last day of taking any pills and as of Nov 10 was my last dose of suboxone. I dont want to sound like some advertisement for suboxone. Is it for everybody? Maybe not, I guess i was just one of the ones it worked for. Anyway, I hope all is going well for you all. If you have any questions or would like to know more feel free to ask.. I would love to help anyway I can.
Avatar n tn I want to stay away from Suboxone as I only hear success stories from people who are still on it and it seems like many horror stories for those that tried to quit suboxone itself. I just need help, has anyone here gone through it and been done for awhile and feel completely normal again?
Avatar f tn I'm off the suboxone for over 9 months now. Was at 24mg per day for almost 7 years. It wasnt easy, but its doable. What mg r you on, if not too personal?
Avatar f tn Is there anyone who can give me any positives on suboxone? I'm scared to death about withdrawls (since these could cause a relapse). Dr. said he would taper my husband down slowly so that his wd are very minimum. Any success stories would really help. Please any feedback would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn I switched from heroin to methadone to suboxone and ended up stuck on suboxone for 4 years. Once suboxone or methadone become a routine part of life it may seem that things are working out and your life is getting back in order and everything is getting better, but you will be committing to a life-long, nearly impossible to quit addiction.
Avatar f tn Have A Great Day Lissa1127 Sorry, I guess my question is.. How many success stories about Suboxone do we have here in this forum?
Avatar f tn i recently took oxycontin for a little over six months i wanted to quit so i got some suboxone and i think i made a mistake or did it wrong...i took suboxone for 6 days and that was only 8 mg for that whole six days(just one) just a little bit and i feel like im not getting better..i have been off the suboxone for 6 days now and i still cant sleep, eat,my back hurts, and i have no energy.can anyone tell me when im gonna be ok again.....
Avatar m tn I AM A HEROIN ADDICT THAT MANAGED TO KICK THE HABIT BY USING SUBOXONE TO COMBAT THE WITHDRAWLS, IT WORKED REALLY VERY WELL BUT I NEVER STOPPED TAKING SUBOXONE, SO HAVE BEEN A DAILY USER, I TAKE ABOUT 1MG EVERY 12-24 HOURS,AM I JUST FOOLING MYSELF AND HAVE JUST SWAPPED ONE ADDICTION FOR ANOTHER??? I FUND THAT IF I GO TOO LONG WITHOUT THE SUBOXONE (EVEN SUCH A SMALL AMOUNT) I GET RATHER IRRITABLE,ETC.
Avatar n tn OC is exactly right, get all the information you can about suboxone, it no miracle and can become a big hurdle in itself. For sure the quicker methods in my opinion are the best option(21days), but in almost every instance if we could just taper our drug of choice the withdrawals can actually be easier to deal with. Its a highly debated topic, some people report little to no w/d's, while other like myself wish Id never been mislead into using suboxone.
Avatar m tn I'm currently on suboxone and my liver enzymes are little high, and I've been told milk thistle may help. I've read many stories about these two drug interactions. So, Im wondering if it is safe to take suboxone and milk thistle together ?
Avatar m tn I went on suboxone about 10 months ago, was on that for about 4 months than right back to oxy. I was averaging about 150 mg oxycodone a day and about 2 months ago it was bumped up to about 300 mg a day. I finally realized that I am not going to go another day on oxy. I went to dr. Monday and he put me on suboxone, 8mg 2x day for a total of 16 mg a day. I took that mon and tues, felt ok. Today, its 6 pm and I've taken 1 8mg sub and feel good...
Avatar f tn s appointment, when I was feeling so good after only 2 days of not having any Suboxone. Well duh I was feeling good, withdrawal doesn't hit until day 3, and right now I am in Hell. I know that several people have told me about how well Clonidine works for withdrawal symptoms. I am an addict, and I need instant gratification. I want to know what it does for the anxiety; that "crawling out of your skin" feeling. Anyone who has used it, please share!
Avatar f tn There is no shortage of horror stories when it comes to this stuff on the web. You have to remember that the people who had GOOD stories are far less likely to seek out an online forum to randomly post their success stories on. People with negative stories want to tell the world...that's true with ANY topic...from meds to product reviews, to vacation experiences. When a sub taper is done right, isn't rushed, and a person weans down as low as possible, it IS absolutely doable.
Avatar f tn does suboxone cause mood swings and severe agitation? also...can you get high from taking more than perscribed??? i've read so many contradicting stories.
Avatar f tn I owe my sobriety to suboxone...truly. I have heard horror stories about stopping subs but I had very few issues when I cut them off. This is just my experience but if anyone ever asks about this med I am all for it. Don't let horror stories scare you away...make up your own mind but please research suboxone or talk to a doctor to see if its right for you. I'm at 105 days and my life just keeps getting brighter and brighter.
822153 tn?1333062995 He could not handle his cravings for loratabs with the use of suboxone. Suboxone has reduced his cravings to the point where they are manageable. I am concerned about substituting one drug for another. In the long run he will have to be taken off suboxone it is working right now. I will send you a message with more details.
1253584 tn?1332877954 I'd like hear of succesful stories of people who have tappered off suboxone and what mg did u start noticing wd symptoms? 356054 tn?1218552475 They also told me of some horror stories but these were people who would not wait out the taper long enough. Just wanted to share what I learned....
445698 tn?1208618507 Hey there everyone, I just had a question about the drugs Suboxone and Methadone. My question is which one has the mose opiate like affects ( gets you high like other opiates)? My doctor is putting me on one or the other next week, and I want to be on one that is gonna work, but I also want the one thats not going to get me high like heroin or Morphine does. Any info on the comparison of these drugs would be helpful...
14496752 tn?1434842374 Welcome to medhelp while I cannot offer advice on the methadone, I can offer you support for wanting to get clear and free of the drug that has taken over your life. Just from reading here and from friends experience subs can be just as addicting, I agree with above that weaning methadone sounds beneficial. Have u checked with another med professional for their opinion?
Avatar f tn Hey Chris and welcome. I am a heroin addict and am now on suboxone and it saved my life. Yes suboxone WD is worst then heroin BUT if u do a very long slow taper u will have little to no WD symptoms. If u ever want to talk about anything please PM me and we can talk. A lot of ppl don't agree with suboxone but in reality u can't taper from heroin like u could if u were on pills. Suboxone was the best thing I did for myself. How much H were u using a day? Were u an iv user?
Avatar m tn I went to detox in August spent 6 days there with methodone treatment but left feeling just as sick so started percs again.
