Avatar m tn SUBOXONE--- HAS anyone that has been on Suboxone ever had the side effect of uncontrollable ITCHING? Scratch till your raw? Or any other side effects that make life more difficult? I was on Suboxone for two years, off for 3 months with opiates, and now on again for a month. The itching started small after a few weeks on Sub But now I scratch everywhere there is hair and just below my knees , my back arms, and high on my butt.
Avatar f tn Do these side effects eventually go away if you take Soboxin (sp), and then eventually no SOboxin? If a person works out and takes vitamins will this assist in getting this awful drug out of the system?
1151493 tn?1263336020 All this depression and self confidence issues ARE related to the side effects. Which scares me to death because I haven't had luck going down to less than the 4mg. Thank you for your response. XXXXxxxx.

Avatar m tn There should be some good information and warning info that came with your prescription of suboxone. The side effects are typical of any other type of an opiate - the big cautioin is that you don't want to be taking large doses of benzo meds like xanax or valium with suboxone, that can be a deadly combinatioin. Check for the informatioin with your meds and talk with your doctor.

Avatar f tn Many medical professional are not very adept at preparing patients for the side effects and/or intervening before they worsen. I realize it is a 50-50 kind of thing and the patient should learn as much as possible beforehand - though as you pointed out, it is a tremendous body of knowledge and rather overwhelming for a layman (which is what I consider myself).
1476285 tn?1287337784 Were they able to sustaing their normal doses (I take a fairly small dose less then 1/2 per day) but i wanted to know if anyone had problems or bad side effects or if the suboxone created problems for their treatment.Even moreso I was curious if anyone was denied treatment on telaprevir until they stopped taking suboxone. Thanx for all your help 1.5 days until I start treatment......(but who's counting!
Avatar n tn Finally, when thinking of the dosing opiates in general, I picture a line with pain on one end, and the side effects of too high of a dose on the other end-- namely nausea and itching (we docs call it 'pruritis'). You mention that you were not a 'heavy' drug user; if that is the case, and if the itching is from too much opiate stimulation, you would become tolerant to the sensations in a few days.
1227909 tn?1267853479 suboxone and methadone are meant for short term use withdrawal side effects are gone within a month thats all the longer your body needs it zoe - yes treatment is possible at stage 4 - i heard now even with decompensated cirrhosis treatment is possible
Avatar f tn Hi Jennifer, How are you? Medication side effects may or may not occur to patients. You were given pain medication, anti-inflammatory, antihistamine and antipsychotic/tranqulizer. You may experience gastrointestinal symptoms like nausea, vomiting and sedative effects. However, it is important that any sign of allergic reaction such as difficulty of breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. twitching or tremor will warrant immediate attention. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn arisa, I was on methadone maintance for 3 years, and due to the fact that my teeth, and I mean each and every on decayed at the root and this did not occur until I had been on methadone for over 2 years, and I assume it depends greatly on the heredity of the person, being prone as many females thru heredity of calcium depletion, and early bone mass loss, which I am, I am 50 yrs old now, but my 24 yr old niece also has had many of her teeth to do the same as mine after being on methadone, I bec
897400 tn?1303329148 Right now the big push by drug companies is to focus on new antidepressants that do the same thing as older ones, but without as many side effects. I think this logic is stupid because what we really need are new antidepressants that actually work to control depression. I will take the side effects if the drug works.
306455 tn?1288862071 So I would be willing to accept some risk of side effects with Suboxone, given the risk of NOT treating the disease of addiction. Eventually something better will come along, but for now, outside of constipation, buprenorphine is a pretty good maintenance agent for some people.
Avatar m tn Actually, suboxone does halt both cravings and wd's from full opiate agonists. The reason why suboxone works so well is from several aspects. It has a strong agonistic capability which causes it to partially activate the Mu (Opiate) receptors. It is also suspected to activate Kappa receptors on a partial level as well. Another side is Buprenorphines high binding affinity on the Mu receptors...
424839 tn?1268186246 In the first stage, a single injection is made to assess effectiveness and screen for unwanted side effects. If this trial is successful in relieving symptoms, then the permanent device is placed under the skin. The patients have to meet certain other screening criteria before implanting the pump. Will the procedure hurt? The procedure involves inserting a needle through skin and deeper tissues (like a "tetanus shot"). So, there is some discomfort involved.
