Doctors have to be specially licensed to prescribe suboxone and not all are. You can find a list of doctors in your area at suboxone.com or if you do a general search online. Depending on what type of suboxone program you get into will determine what the requirements are for you. With some doctors you are required to do nothing, with others NA meetings, counseling and support groups are required. As stated above - suboxone is not a cure.

Contact reckitt benckiser who manufactures suboxone/subutex. Ask about the suboxone assistance program. They'll tell you if your son is eligible for it (he should be) but like flmagi said - there is a 2 patient limit for sub docs so make sure you look around.

Please excuse my tardy response. I hear your concern - and the fear that many of our PCP and PMP now face.
I am not an expert on the laws of opiate RX. I know a bit through research and my PMPs educating and opinions. The drug rep is correct. Physicians require additional education to safely RX opiates according to the DEA.
Around 2009, 2010 the FDA approved the Buprenorphine for Chronic Pain use.
Most people I know who "can't afford" their meds, spend the money on something else. If their income is low enough to actually not be able to afford them, then Obamacare will cover it. I have found that to be true for everyone I have met. Those who don't qualify may have to do without a $200 television bill or get dumb phones, but I think most people can get their meds if they really want them bad enough.
Once there will they treat with another opiate until the methadone currently in his system has had time to metabolize and then switch him to suboxone? Or will he be forced to detox on his own? Can suboxone be successful with his current tolerance to methadone? I'm so brokenhearted for him he has turned his life around in the past few years and is a productive respected member of our community.
I have been addicted to lortabs for several years now and 2 weeks ago went to a trmt center and started suboxone. So far so good. No cravings whatsoever and really feeling good. I felt really good the first couple of days with lots of energy, but now I can hardly keep my eyes open during the day. Is that normal? Now for my reason for posting. My husband as well has been addicted and wanted to try a film to see how it made him feel. He took a 4 mg yesterday with no problems.

Doctors that are approved by the DEA to prescribe suboxone have specific requirements. That will be the challenge in finding a different dr to continue prescribing so you can taper. (that is...IF your dr doesn't return).

I would advise against doing that - dogs have a wide range of nutritional requirements and it is highly unlikely that you are going to be able to meet all these requirements when feeding homemade. Calcium/phosphorus are extremely important and the only way they can get this in a homemade diet is from bone meal. You should be feeding them food made specifically for dogs, preferably one that is AAFCO approved.
