Suboxone methadone

Common Questions and Answers about Suboxone methadone

suboxone

Avatar m tn If you took some Methadone after taking Suboxone...that's why you feel so sick. Now that you've taken Suboxone, the Methadone will not work. Never take opiates when you're taking Suboxone, okay?
Avatar n tn If you are having such a hard time of it on the Suboxone then going back on the Methadone may be the best choice for you. Im curious why you transitioned from Methadone to Suboxone in the first place. You wont go into precipitated withdrawals going from Suboxone to Methadone. That only happens going the other way.
Avatar f tn Are you saying you are considering getting on Methadone to get off of Suboxone?? Using Methadone for almost any addiction, except possibly Heroin, is really jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire. Methadone has a place for very hard core Heroin addicts but almost every other drugs can be stopped with far less drastic measures. Check out Sadinmichigan journal and see what others have gone through when trying to come off of Methadone. Wishing you all the best.
Avatar f tn I too was a 20 year methadone patient. I have tried numerous times to switch to suboxone. On suboxone I cannot sleep, I have extremem anxiety, and I have no energy. I am not sick but I do not feel normal. I have been told by the manufacturer that this is a common complaint from long term methadone maintenance patients. I suggest you return to methadone. Follow your own bodies advice and ignore the rest. Only you know how your body functions and reacts to medication.
Avatar m tn I heard from multiple people that Methadone is better for pain than Suboxone, and so I brought it up to my doctor. My Dr. agreed to switch me to Methadone, but not without a few caveats: 1) I will need to quit Amitriptyline because it interacts with Methadone. 2) He will only give me a maximum of 30 mg Methadone a day. I tried quitting Amitriptyline, but I started tingling and burning all throughout my body so badly that I had to go back on it.
Avatar m tn I have worked my way down to 25mg of methadone. Alot of people have told me that suboxone is the way to go. Some people told me you have to be down to at least 30-40mg of methadone to get on suboxone so you won't go thru any withdrawls, and some have told me that you can not take any methadone for 48 hours before taking the suboxone, cause it will make you sick. Do you have an answer?
Avatar n tn so im thinking about quitting the methadone and moving to suboxone how long should i wait to start takin the suboxone?
Avatar m tn You're already on methadone and you really can't begin SUBOXONE until you're down to at least 30mg per day of methadone; last I knew. When you see the doctor tomorrow, tell him you prefer to taper the methadone...if that's what you truly want. But as I said, you need to taper down to 30 mg anyway and that's well documented.
862936 tn?1239553570 For example Im down to 1/2 a 8-2mg suboxone a day. Just want to know how many milligrams of methadone that is equal to.
Avatar n tn Im not sure how long its been since your dose of suboxone, but it always took me about 1hr before I would feel its effects. I was on methadone before going to sub, tapered down from 140mgs-30mgs, then started at 8mgs/suboxone. Im not really sure how methadone compares to morphine milligram wise, but if it doesnt help then talk to your doctor about adjusting your dose. You cant expect to feel great, but it should hold off the w/d's and cravings.
Avatar f tn What's your current dose of methadone? How long is this "detox" supposed to last? I'm not very knowledgable about suboxone being used as a detox agent as opposed to long term opiate replacement therapy. I'm going to do some reading about the current thinking on using suboxone short term to detox. Suboxone is very addictive and you're not going to hear much good about it here. That doesn't necessarily mean it can't work for short term detox.
Avatar n tn Ok I am on suboxone now and was once on methadone and also I am pregnant. I mean it's best to be on nothing while pregnant but some just can't do that without being extremely sick. From what I've read methadone has been studied for years and has been proven to have no danger to a baby accept that your baby will likely go through withdrawl and you might even have to give it morphine when it comes home.
Avatar m tn Can any MD in the state of Florida prescribe Methadone? I have been on Suboxone since 2009 and it helped me get of a high dose of Roxicodone thank god. I am on 8mgs a day and have herniated, buldging, degenitive discs with a sever reverse curve in my neck. My C4.C5. C6. C7 are all whacked and some days it kills me!! I use to get sealed bottles of 100 40mg diskettes of methadone ten years ago with ease from a General Practioner.
Avatar f tn I just wanted to respond to feohmans comment about doctors/anyone advising people to switch from methadone to suboxone in order to detox off of methadone. I think most informed medical proffesionals do this is because short suboxone detox's have been shown to mitigate the severity of methadone withdrawals considerably. I know from my own experience that as i tapered down off of my methadone dose i had periods of extreme discomfort.
Avatar f tn Hey all. I've been on 35mg methadone for 2 years and have to switch to suboxone for insurance reasons. The suboxone doctor just told me to skip one days worth of dose and come in "withdrawaling"... I'm scared that one day won't be enough and I'll go into precip withdrawals, but I don't want to go into full fledged withdrawal because I know I'll get high to alleviate the feeling and end up losing my job (I've been clean for the entire 2 years). Any tips?
1227909 tn?1267853479 i dont know about trials but in australia ur aloud to be on methadone or suboxone etc whilst on SOC TX DRUGS,n i know a few ppl who cleared on methadone on the tx.
Avatar n tn I had to go to the emergency room but eventually started getting better, started taking methadone again because I was to afraid to take the suboxone again. My question is , if you take the suboxone and go through withdrawels , does that mean you are then free of the addiction? Does that mean you no longer need to take methadone and have become totally free?
1253584 tn?1332877954 then switched to suboxone to detoxx from the methadone. i was wondering how long does the w/ds form methadone actually last ? i dont want o get off suboxone b4 the w/ds from the methadone r over and have to go thru 2 different drug w/ds. ive been on the suboxone for a lil over a week now and im at 10mgs. i hope im making since and everyone knows what im talking about. it was kinda hard for to word correctly. any ideas?
562575 tn?1217292335 From what you have heard or experienced, whats worse withdrawing from Suboxone or Methadone? I dropped off my 70mg Methadone dose 23 days ago and it's been pure hell. Whats Suboxone like coming off? Is it as horrible as Methadone withdrawal?
1800740 tn?1324237171 I have an appointment later this week with a suboxone doctor. I am taking 30 mg. methadone & I'm going to try suboxone to help me get off the methadone. I am scared to death. I've heard negative things about people switching from methadone to suboxone. Can anyone offer me any advice? Has anyone gone through this? What does the dr. tell you? How many days do I need to be into withdrawals before starting suboxone?
Avatar f tn I had friend that was on 50mg methadone and then thought suboxone better her so she went to 20mg and then only waited like 10hrs then took suboxone and she had to be put in hospital because the withdraws were so bad. Subutex is alot like methadone so....
217599 tn?1202850952 I would never think of administering anything to the baby! The hospital gave the baby methadone to help with her withdrawels from the adult strength opiates they had been giving her for nearly a month to sedate her. Suboxone helped me withdraw from massive amounts of ocycontin, oxycodone, and morphine with basically no wd's. I was just wondering if the dr.s could give the baby some form of suboxone to help her with the wd's from methadone.
14496752 tn?1434842374 Just taper off the methadone. I don't see any benefit in transitioning to suboxone. I used suboxone for two years and I've used my share of methadone. The only drug that can give methadone a run for its money regarding withdrawal horror stories is Subutex/Suboxone.
Avatar f tn i understand i went from pain pills, to herion to methadone to pain pills to suboxone to pain pills to herion to methadone to suboxone to pain pills to methadone to sub....on and on for 10 wasted years, my last desperate attempt at taking pills to cure my addiction was revia, even that stuff made me sick hope my experiecne helps...
Avatar f tn From what I can gather this permission only allows certified doctors to prescribe suboxone/subutex ( not methadone). Suboxone could be a better option if you are seriously considering Opioid Substitution Therapy (OST). You should be able to find a private suboxone doctor nearby. For all intents and purposes, (as a maintenence drug)suboxone functions much the same as methadone, but it isnt monitered as strictly and doesnt require daily dispensing from a busy (and seedy) clinic.
