suboxone

541465 tn?1219427886 methdaone is also an abused drug to get high...so yes u can get high..it is a stong narcotic...suboxone can make u high as well in the right dose....
Avatar m tn Ive done the suboxone thing twice. What you have to remember with subs you are filling your opiod receptors to stop the physical withdrawl. You wont have the "high" you are used to getting from prior drug use. Your mind really is missing that part of your drug use. To answer your question in my opinion feeling normal no. But it is suppost to keep you from being physically sick and in complete opiod withdrawl. You may want to see your doctor and get on some antidepressants.
Avatar m tn elvis - you asked about how long one must wait after taking methadone to take suboxone. Most docs want you to wait at least 48 hours after the last methadone dose before taking suboxone, otherwise there is a good chance of going into precipitated withdrawal because suboxone has such a high affinity for the Mu receptor and if there is another opiate on the receptor, suboxone can kick it off.
Avatar f tn I was prescribed oxycodone 30mg 5x daily, neurontin 400mg 2x day, kadian 30mg 2x day for chronic lyme disease, 4 herniated discs, pinched nerves, & also had partial laminectomy in 2004 L5-S1. I've been taking them so long my tolerance to the meds is so high they do nothing for my pain. I want to stop taking the meds but I can't do the withdraw. I've heard suboxone is used to get off meds and prevent withdraw but I also heard suboxone is addictive too.
Avatar f tn For me - no more or less than the oxycontin/oxycondone. You do not get the same 'high' off of suboxone as you do on the oxy.. when I was on it, I didn't feel high at all.. but after spending so much time on it, and now being off it, it was not "high" but it was also not 100% straight either.. one thing for sure sub did to me was make me nod at various points throughout the day - actually more so at the lower dose than at the larger dose..
452136 tn?1236955402 I have been getn high on Ron on an of 4 a couple of years. then i went to a methadone clinic for 8 months and i couldn't pay for it no more so i dropped 5mg a day. started getn high again, then rehab, then getn i high again u now. Avatar m tn I'm sorry your withdrawls are torturing you. Unfortunately, if you are on opiates for 19 years straight, you are not going to have an easy time of it no matter what. What are you doing for recovery?
Avatar f tn Hi, I was just curious about suboxone, does Suboxone help you lose weight or can you gain weight from it?
17152530 tn?1454126532 you have to have safegaurds in place, ways to deal, for them to take you off as the relapse rate is really high if you dont. Thats why seeing a counselor, going to meetings, being active in recovery are totally necessary!! Do you mind if i ask what your issues are with n/a mtgs? Did you have a bad experience? Having that craving you had....without being on subs, how would you have dealt with it??? Thats where aftercare comes into play.
Avatar m tn Just be careful with what your doing, dont try and get high of the lortabs because it will take a huge amount and you risk overdosing. Take Care.

951587 tn?1249227148 I've been taking suboxone for 3 months now. I take 8mgs 1 time a day. I only got "high" off suboxone for about the first 2 days I started taking it. From what I understand after its in your system for a week or so It doesn't get you high anymore because of the naloxone (the opiate blocker). You would have to wait about 2 to 3 days without taking suboxone until the buprenorphine (the opiate) will have a effect.
1253584 tn?1332877954 Rare cravings after the first month. You almost forget your an addict. BUT all that BS is waiting for you when you come off suboxone. You cn go from feeling 100% 'recovered' to day 1 in no time. Its a great chance to work a recovery program and get ready for the future. Best of luck.
Avatar f tn If you want to find a doctor who prescribes Suboxone to treat opioid addiction all you have to do is go on Suboxone.com website to locate one. I personally find that this method is just trading one addiction for another in many cases (some statistics show as high as 40-45%). I suggest you take some time and read my blogs by clicking on my names for more options and info. My clinic website might also be useful as you can see above.
Avatar m tn t stick to your receptors? Can you go ahead and take suboxone the next day and keep on with your maintenance or do you have to wait until withdrawal to start sub again even though you never felt the opiates and they were never able to bind to your receptors? I was under the impression suboxone wipes all the opiates out of your system, and unless you wait long enough after your last suboxone (24-72 hours) dose you will not be able to feel anything from opiates.
Avatar f tn WOW what an awsome post.I'm soooooooooooo happy for you and your son.It sounds like you are very proud of him,as well you should be.He's lucky to have such a loving caring mom in his corner.Sending lots of prayers for a long and happy life for him and his new bride...............Peace.................
410221 tn?1227631837 This is used to make sure that you cannot get high with this drug. When you take subutex alone it can get you high, but not along with naloxone.. That is why suboxone is unique. The naloxone keeps the person from abusing other painkillers as well as not being able to abuse the subutex in the suboxone. This is why it is so helpful for certain people that are battling addiction.
290532 tn?1308136770 And please---do not mistake what I am asking you---if you suddenly believe that you can control your Suboxone use after 7 to 10 days, then why can't you control your Tramadol use? I hate having to type this here as so much is lost in translation, but do you get where I am going? Suboxone is tricky and should be used as a means of simply detoxing from another substance in most circumstances. It is a program and needs to be followed with outside support and other things.
Avatar f tn Suboxone will utterly **** you up to begin with. But, the more you take it, the less you feel unless you up your dosage. But, it is addictive so don't let anyone tel any of you different. As for being on Suboxone & trying to get high on other drugs as well, you can not get high on any type of pain medication while on it but as for speed, nerve pills, basically anything else but pain medication, you can still get high.
Avatar f tn and BE HONEST when they ask you.And you will get probabbly tested on HIV and HEPATITIS A,B,C but you will get your first dosage THAT DAY-be sure!!! It's worth of it. After all,if u have someone (best option is ur mom) that could testify about your addiction bring her.If she really want to help (eighter your mom or wife,or person that is interduced with your chronic decease can come).
Avatar m tn some people will tell you that sub was intended only for short-term use and that you should get on and off ASAP. i think that's an insurance company line that has joined forces with the ill founded notion that there's some requirement in recovery for the no-longer-using addict to PROVE that they are now STRONG and pass various TESTS of temptation. i think that mindset is misguided and dangerous. recovery is, in the first instance, about staying safe.
Avatar n tn Just tell him that he wont be able to get herion or Suboxone in prison....so it would be better to just use the Suboxone on the outside....
554051 tn?1215330068 I know hearing me say hang in there doesnt help the pain or help you get the medication. But were all here for you and really want you to get the treatment you need to be able to cope with the pain. TMA ps(can you please avoid double posting. I'm going to delete the other post as it is the same topic. Thanks) .
Avatar m tn What do you mean you dont know what to tell your Dr.Tell him you want to get off the Suboxone, you are better off asking him how to get off it then us. I tapered off of mine ,has that ever been an option for you in 5 years. Also if I was having urinary retention from it,i would be off it real fast, and telling my new Dr all about it.
Avatar f tn you want to be clean, and they will want to help you get there. If you have insurance, then you have options. You could make an appointment with a doctor, or with an addiction specialist. They would be able to advise you best after going through your history. You are making the decision to stop, so you have already taken a step in the right direction. There are some medications and vitamins and supplements that could make the withdrawals from hydrocodone more bearable...
1501172 tn?1289287734 I applaud your willingness to get clean and rid yourself of suboxone. You hit the nail on the head Melissa... trading one addiction for another is never a good thing. Congratulations for getting from 24mg down to 8mg. I'm not going to lie and tell you that this is going to be easy, even with a slow taper, but I promise you, you're going to come out the back side of this on top of the world and loving life. PLEASE keep posting back and let s know how your taper goes.
1481358 tn?1288295091 All those other pills keep the habit going and we all want to quit right. When you go get a shot you know its gonna hurt some. When you quit opiates its gonna hurt alot. Arent we already hurting alot? The pain of using is worse than wds. It really is so dont be scared. If your not scared to use you shouldnt be scared to quit. My heart goes out to anybody that thinks they dont have to pay the price...
