suboxone

Avatar f tn If suboxone is to help with oxycontin withdrawls, why is it so hard to stop subonone, do you still have opiate withdrawls? if so why is suboxone so good???? is there a chemical way to detox, how long.
Avatar f tn i think the taper for oxycontin is 14% a week...thats what my dr told me...but he gave me a break, and instead went from giving me 300 80s a week, yes a week, to 280,then 260,then240 and so on...so he dropped off 20 tabs everyweek until i got to 200 a week....nowhis next move was to taper me 1.5 pills a day so in total 11 pills a week...so i went from 200 pills to 189 pills...and when i complained that it should only be 1.0 pills a week he said ok..
Avatar n tn I have been smoking Oxycontin for about 3-4 months and want to quit! Is it easy to get suboxone? I don't want to go to rehab because I don't want my brother to know I smoke.
Avatar m tn well yes I do agree that it is trading one addiction for another, methadone or suboxone are much healthier for you as well as it being monitored by your doctor or a clinic. it is possible to quit an opiate addiction without things like methadone or suboxone but it is difficult and has a high failure rate. some people can do it and only do it once and stay clean for the rest of their lives while others like myself need the help of these medications to fully kick the habit.
Avatar n tn Glad that the sub is working for you and you are getting your life back. Keep Posting...
Avatar f tn My son is in the process of relapsing on oxycontin for the second time in 3 months. We have told him he cannot live at our home if he is using. We offered him help, he says he does not need it. He refused to urine test. Chose to leave the house. Living with former/possible relapsed oxy using friend. He is very very angry. What do we do?
Avatar n tn It may be used to treat an addiction to norco, but not soma or xanax. Only certain doctors that have been trained on suboxone are allowed to prescribe it.
Avatar m tn also since the acute withdrawal symptoms last for a week would i be able to take methadone or suboxone for a week to get over the withdrawals, then stop the methadone/suboxone?? i was reallly curious about this as i heard that it helps with withdrawal.
Avatar m tn but the mental part has been the hardest part for me and that part lingers for a while...if u take suboxone for a long period, it is addictive and u would be facing withdrawal from the sub..
Avatar n tn I was stunned to learn that the supposed cure/treatment for her addiction to the narcotic Oxycontin through the clinic is actually another narcotic - Methodone. She has now just crossed hour 24 of her withdrawal and I'm afraid if I don't say or do the right think she might opt to go back home and find someone to get her the Oxycontin. She's made the right decision to get off of it and has one full day under her belt, how can I encourage her to keep going with the process.
268662 tn?1203171238 I am on 120mgs of methadone daily for a long and nasty heroin, dilaudid, and oxycontin addiction, Ive been cold turkey on methadone I was on suboxone 32mgs the highest daily dose for 9 mths and been thru hell and back, I would love to help in any way I can, let me know, best of luck to you, Christos
Avatar m tn Does anyone have any experience with Suboxone being used to treat withdrawl symptoms and cravings from tramadol dependence? I've been taking tram on a daily basis for 4 years. In the height of my addiction I was up to 1000+mg/day. I have recently reduced my daily intake to 200mg by gradually weening myself down week by week. I've made an appointment with a Dr. at an Addiction Recovery Service for an evaluation.
Avatar n tn I was taking suboxone for about a week and only 2mgs a day was making me feel normal well with a lil aches and pains here and there. Then for 4 days I relapsed and did about 4 80mg oxys in 4 days. I'm on my 2 day of not using oxys and the craving arent incredibly terrible and neither are the withdrawls. I'm wondering since I'm taking the suboxone which I only have about 6mgs left of, if I take that for the next 2 days will I be done with oxy withdrawls.
Avatar n tn there are some good post about how to get off. i am currently on 100mgs daily methadone and ahve to go to a clinic too. ive been going there for over 6 months. last week i went w/out methadone for 100+ hrs. stuck in a county jail cuz of unpaid tickets. it was the absolute worst wd's and experience i have ever encountered. i also cold turkeyed from 8 mg of xanax taken daily too.
Avatar n tn My own opinion (after experiencing it) is Sub should only be used for Heroin, Methadone, or large Oxycontin addictions --- and then only for acute withdrawal symptoms for about 7 days. At some point in recovery, we all had to go through the same process --- and it is not pleasant ---- There is no "Free Get out of W/D's Card" ----- The most important thing is that we do escape all opiates - including Suboxone ---- Until that happens a person is still bound.
Avatar n tn Now I successfully detox my patients from opiates (eg. morphine, Oxycontin) using regulated amounts of Suboxone and also detox my patients from Suboxone addiction when that drug has been misused. I have found that the optimal time to have someone on Suboxone is between 20 and 25 days, tapering down on the medication every few days. This makes the physical symptoms of detox very manageable, without causing the patient to become cross-addicted to Suboxone.
Avatar f tn been in pain managemennt for 18yrs 8 on methadone 60mgs day hated it came off 08/2010 currntly taking 120mgs oxycontin per day allergic to suboxone/subtex can an addiction doctor wean me off slowy by tapering the oxycontin plus think im newly pregnant with 4thchild
Avatar m tn That is 1/10 of 1mg. This **** is great for staying off pills, but Suboxone must be tapered down and then one can jump off for good. But one must go all the way down to 1/10 of 1mg, and then to 1/20 of 1mg. and then to 1/40th of 1mg.
Avatar f tn i finally made the decision once and for all last week to quit taking oxycontin for good. i currently take 3-4 40mg oxys a day for the last 2 yrs i have been on them. i have been going back and forth on wanting to quit and not wanting to for the past 9 months. now if inanly realized how better my life will be without them and how much these pills have taken away from my life. i want to be me again and i want my life back so im taking control.
752888 tn?1263248042 I keep hearing the objection to long term Sub usage because of the doctors making more money by keeping you on it. This could be farther from the truth. First of all, Sub doctors have waiting lists for patients. Since there is a limit on the number of Sub patients that each doctor can treat, people usually have to wait to get on his/her service. Secondly, Suboxone doctor's make more money through first consultation/intake than through continuing appointments.
Avatar m tn //www.naabt.org they will offer you support and a treatment locator is also , Opiate addiction is a treatable chronic disease of the brain.
Avatar f tn Dear Doctor, I am trying very hard this evening to find an answer to this difficult question. Can the highest dose of suboxone work with w/d for at the very most 500mg opiate addiction? What is the ceiling of opiates that sub will cover? I have a friend in desperate need of sub treatment. When I started sub, I was a 320mg a day maximum oxycontin user (mostly 160mg)but tapered down to 80mg 5 days before induction and did fine.
Avatar f tn 09, 2009) – The Waismann Method, leaders of opiate detoxification under anesthesia, announced an increase in patients seeking treatment for dependency to Suboxone®, also known as Subutex® or Buprenorphine from 2007 to 2008. In addition, findings from an online survey revealed that more than 66 percent of respondents who are currently taking Suboxone to treat a dependency to opiates do not feel like they could stop taking it without assistance.
Avatar f tn com and find a doctor near you who can prescribe Sub -- There are only a limited number of doctors who can prescribe it - - - they are used to dealing with people with narcotic problems and will not judge you or make your life difficult - - they do not need to know where you got your drugs or involve the police in any way --- He/She will simply write you a prescription for Suboxone and give you instructions on how much to take and when.
Avatar f tn i have been on suboxone for 3 weeks today. i stopped taking oxycontin 160mg - 200 mg a day. i am so weak it is hard for me to get out of bed. could the suboxone bemaking me soo weak?
1405767 tn?1282634598 It is an opioid agonist/antagonist medication that is widely advertised and widely used by many physicians as a detox option. Substituting narcotics for Suboxone and then slowly tapering it off allows the body to adjust slowly and not to have to go through the agony of withdrawals. The problem with Suboxone that we see in our clinic is that a subset of patients gets addicted to Suboxone as well and then we have to detox them off of it.
Avatar m tn salsinator is correct, you can only get that medication from a licensed suboxone prescribing doctor and that website will help you. I was prescribed suboxone for nearly 3 years after a 5 year addiction to oxycontin. This medication saved me. Now I am off the suboxone and am doing great. It has been about 3 months since I've taken any opiate. Try to find that doctor, I assure you if you stick to the docs plan it will help you.
