Suboxone for fibromyalgia

Common Questions and Answers about Suboxone for fibromyalgia

suboxone

Avatar f tn t cause too much withdrawal as it is also an opiate. It is Suboxone (however, suboxone has an additional med added to it that blocks the affect of opiates). Have you heard of that? This is often given to people who are addicted and want to get 'clean' and also for those with a chronic moderate pain condition. That sounds like you, right? This could be a good thing if you are able to make the switch and the just maintain with the suboxone! It's an alternative.
Avatar n tn has anyone used suboxone for pain relief from fibromyalgia? I am not asking if you use it to detox from pain relievers you have used for pain and then became addicted, but if you were not on anything and was it prescribed strickly for pain relief.
Avatar f tn I was addicted to Loratab from 1999 until May 7th, 2002, my intake daily was about 23. On May 7th, 2002 I took my last one and went cold turkey and by the grace of God stayed clean for 5 years. About 9 months ago I took a very bad fall and went to my doctor and now he has me on Loracet 10mg. 4 times a day, but I take 5 a day and let me mention that I also have Fibromyalgia. I want off of these things again, but I know I can't go cold turkey again.
522415 tn?1242937755 i went for a follow up visit with the doctor 2 weeks later and told them that i was having more pain then when i left detox, and she put me back on suboxone. ive been on it for 2 years now and its done miracles for me. it typically keeps me pain free for several hours without the fog and heaviness of opoids. i know the original post is several years old, but it sounds like you had an allergic reaction to the suboxone. thats not a normal reaction.
Avatar f tn Alternatively, perhaps suboxone would work well for you. any health care prescriber with a dea number can give you the talwin nx though and you need a dr who is credentialed to prescribe suboxone and I dont believe that NP's and PA's can prescribe it should one of those be your primary. good luck to you from a fellow h/a sufferer.
Avatar f tn I have been taking a variety of pain meds for my chronic pain. I want to stop! My doc says tapering will take a year, I did 2 tapers each one I went through withdrawals. It seems as though cold turkey is better than a year of agony. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I am also concerned about my chronic pain, what do I do about that?
Avatar n tn I have fibromyalgia and have been on quite a few narcotic drugs for the pain over the years. I finally got on Suboxone and that seems to help better than any other medication I have ever been on. It helps with my pain and fatigue. I have been reading information about LDN therapy for fibromyalgia and wonder if that might help me. It makes me wonder if the Naloxone in the Suboxone might be having the same effect on me that LDN has on patients.
Avatar f tn I have fibromyalgia, and i am on suboxone and neurontin...which seem to help with my everyday pain...but does NOTHING for my flares, so i take prednisone for those special occasions... just because your insurance covers it, doesnt mean your doctor will accept it...there has been issues with this in the past, but it does seem to be getting better...
Avatar n tn He put her on Fentyal patch for 5 years and then a counselor suggested she try Suboxone. This Suboxone stuff has been an education -- not many doctors know that much about it. Again, thanks for your comments.
Avatar f tn I still have pain, which methadone blocked better but as far as side effects, despite the pain, i like suboxone better so far! WOULD LOVE SUBUTEX THOUGH. Canada ***** for drugs, I wish they prescribed Xyrem here too, lol! You guys get all the goodies!
Avatar m tn I am feeling very lethargic. Been on oxycodene hcl with no Tylenol 15ml for over a year. Taking 60ml a day. Down to 30ml since yesterday. Been off tramadol for 5days. I am having the worst chills and I ache. I take klonopin 1ml pill one half in morning and the other half in the evening. I suffer from anxiety and fibromyalgia, also depression. To combat the withdrawals, I am taking 2organic vitamins, with additional potassium and l tyrosine. I take 4advil and 2 Benadryl.
1560356 tn?1294835100 Many with Fibromyalgia have IBS and/or GERD, as digestive health issues often come with Fibromyalgia. I mentioned the area of the left breast specifically in regard to the sharp pain, because this area can be affected when the GERD is flaring up. As regards to the tight muscles and such, that is a different story. The feeling that no one seems to know what is wrong with you--welcome to the club.
728287 tn?1231347273 Well, I am a 39 yr old who has been taking script pain killers for 8 long years now. I began with Lortab lowest dose (can't remember) and have moved up the scale to Percocet 15 mg, no accetominofen.12-20 pills a day. While I try not to buy them off the street, I have in the past when I ran out and started to get "ill". the strongest pills I have taken where oxycontin 20 mg. but only occasionally, and I cut them in half. On Jan. 19th I am going off the meds with my Drs.
Avatar m tn I also want to ask your advice on getting off of suboxone. I have been on it for over 5 years now. My Dr. prescribes me 3, 8mg strips a day ! And I take half I the morning , half in the afternoon. I have a very supportive wife and 3 wonderful kids and I am the main source of income for my family so it is imperative I do this in a way I can still function enough to work. The suboxone is stripping away all my drive and ambition and is starting to effect mine and my family's life .
1046692 tn?1255391835 I was going to go cold turkey this past Tuesday...needless to say I was not mentally ready for this. I've been taking 20-30mgs of Lortab a day for legit pain that wont seem to go away. Out of habit....when I notice the aches and pains coming on I take a pill. How I hate these things and the grip they have on me. I have been reading posts that have mentioned "things" doctors can give to help ease the w/d process. Could someone tell me what these might be?
Avatar n tn I am a 28 year old female,I have been on suboxone for 5 years from a 2 year addiction to Vicodin and OxyContin, I was told I could take it for chronic pain I have fibromyalgia, interstitial cystitis, and endometriosis, I have later realized this medication is far worse than if I would of just finished withdrawing off my pain meds.
Avatar f tn Hi there. I was on Suboxone for many years and have been off of it for two years. And i will tell you this: I went they wd from my pills soooo many times I lost count. I always went back to using, and did so rather quickly. I never stayed clean for long. Sunoxone gave me time.
Avatar m tn Hello, I was taking four Vicodin es for seven years. I have been on suboxone 2 mg for over four years. I have tried to taper off and I have gone cold turkey for three days but I felt terrible and went back to suboxone. I work 70 hours a week and I have a family to support so going to a rehab is out of the question. I would love to get off this stuff and be free of it but I am afraid of going back to pills. How long can you stay on suboxone and what long term harm will it do?
Avatar f tn If your having opiate problems again, or cravings, I would get back on the suboxone asap. People are staying on this med for years and years, as a safer way to stay clean and not relapse. 12 years is quite awhile, and its hard to get over that in a few months. Like the people who do rapid detox or a month in rehab for 20years of drug use. It just doesn't work out like everyone hopes.
Avatar f tn Her skin also seems pretty dry, but haven't found that anywhere in side effects. And the areas around her eyelids are pretty red?
Avatar f tn Hi martint1955, First, I want to welcome you to the PM (Pain Management) Forum and let you know that we are glad you found this Forum. We are all CP (Chronic Pain) Patients that help each other with our own expertise and experiences that we have developed through our own CP Issues. I'm sorry that you are having trouble finding a Doctor to prescribe what you think you need for your pain. From everything that I've read on the patch it is the very same medication that Suboxone is.
Avatar m tn But, I have a new insurance company. My question is - I was on suboxone for the pain and it did not work. So I have a new doc appt next week, and am certain he will give me oxycodone. Should I go to a different pharmacy? I thought there is a central database where any can see that I just got subs filled last month. I plan on telling my new doc that I even tried them for pain. I don't want to get into trouble.
Avatar n tn Has anyone else here gone on the suboxone for chronic pain relief. This is what my doc is using it for on me-I see most of you are on it for detox....I was wanting of fthe dilaudud as I was afraid of becoming addicted.(And was constipated all the time so he put me on naltrexone for the chronic constipation I was on.Ended up in hospital 4-6x for this.,the naltrexone worked great to help me go also using the miralax as added supplement.
Avatar m tn So the choice to jump from 8mg to 24 mg is a decision of pain management. It is a very high dosage of Suboxone for addiction treatment, but not very uncommon for pain relief. The drug buprenorphine, Suboxone's opiate ingredient, has been used for chronic pain relief for decades, mainly in the UK. Suboxone was introduced to the US around '92 for opiate treatment only, but many Drs are beginning to use it for its original use.
