Avatar f tn My sister is addicted to pain killers and has an appointment next week at a suboxone clinic to seek help but just found out that she is pregnant. What will happen? Is there anything like suboxones for her to take to help or are suboxones safe?
Avatar m tn hi hope someone helps with this. I want to start on suboxone short term for a week to stop the wds. Can I take a half in the morning if I take my last perc at 7pm. Is 12 hours enough time to take.
Avatar f tn Is it possible for one to take suboxone for just a few days to get "through the withdraws" from hydrocodone abuse, like 300mg a day use.? any one have any ideas. I was thinking of talking about 1 8 mg sub in the morning first day(after 24 hours of with drawl) and 4 mg in the morning and 4 at nigh for the next day then 4 mg in the morning and 2 mg at night then then just stopping all together? so a total of 3 days of suboxone to get through the worst of the withdrawals.
Avatar m tn Now I take suboxone 5 days a week and 2 days a week I'll go through 50 percf 10mgs. My question is IF I can stay on the Suboxone how long should I be on it before I can wean myself off of the suboxone and be drug free ???
Avatar m tn I have been off Suboxone for 1 week now. My Dr had had prescribed a 2 week withdrawal script but I am unable to take this due to a court ordered program. This Drug Court has said I MUST be clean from this and any other drugs by Nov. 2nd. I've signed my life away to do this so I MUST be clean. Questions: 1.How long will this stay in my system? I had tested positive after taking no Suboxone for 3 days. The court said I should have been negative. They have given me 2 weeks to do this.
Avatar f tn about five months ago I found a doctor that prescribed me suboxone for my withdrawls. I recently moved back to new york, and after i moved back to ny i find out my insurance did not cover my suboxone so i owe 400+ dollars. I cannot afford to keep paying for it, and have had SO much trouble finding a doctor up here who can prescribe it but I have had no luck. I have been thinking about quiting suboxone and just toughing it out.
Avatar f tn the suboxone is a big help. How many suboxone do you have I could give you a plan on how to ween yourself down each day.
Avatar n tn i've only been on for a month and a half and i want to get off as soon as possible. I've started cutting a quarter off each pill a week, should i go slower, or does this seem like the right kind of taper.
Avatar f tn Am I a candidate for suboxone if I take ten percocet tens a day and use coricidin on a regular basis?
Avatar f tn Now I like the suboxone and have taking it for a month, longer that I shot up. I take it about 3-4 times a week about 12mg, really just recreational. Can I cold turkey stop it since its just been a month or should I tapper? I only have 3/8mg strips left I could cut in 4ths. Or should I just stop? I read it is also a mental thing so am also concerned with that but don't want any wd from that. Not sure of I've been on it long enough to have wd but this recreational stuff is for the birds.
Avatar m tn First, congratulations on taking steps to make a better life for yourself. It's hard but worth it. I'ts difficult to know where to start. I could discuss the issues surrounding buprenorphine (suboxone) treatment for hours. Let's start with this website: Http:// This website is from "The National Alliance of Advocates for Buprenorphine Treatment (NAABT)", so they have a particular view of suboxone for treatment of addiction.
Avatar f tn I have to say that suboxone is a very strong medication to turn to for a 3-4pill/day habit of hydro. I know how hard it is to quit and more importantly to stay clean, but maybe you should try to kick your current habit and see a doc for your depresson issues. After quitting opiates our brains take time to regain their ability to produce sufficient amounts of its own natural chemicals (norepenephrine/dopamine/serotonin), leading to feelings of depression/anxiety.
Avatar f tn I finally went to an addiction psychologist who put me on suboxone.. I have been taking suboxone for a year now. i know that my doc is leading me on to get his money every moneth. I was the one who sugested taking less of gthe sub. I want to be free of it but he never mentions taking less. I am glad that I have ahd him to help me but i also know he is stringing me along so ne gets nis hundred a month from me. What should I do?
519661 tn?1264519808 i do know that ppl have had severe w/ds coming off. when you get down to .5 a day for 2 weeks try taking just 1mg every other day for a week then 1 every third day for a week. most ppl say that helps them...good luck and keep us posted on your progress.
610505 tn?1329607323 I have managed to get down to 1/2 mg per day. How often should I continue to lower from here...once a week, twice a week...etc. My Dr. suggested that I go one day without taking it, but I get very agitated and sick to my stomach. I'm not real sure how much is physical and how much is psychological. What is your suggestion. Thank you!
5125965 tn?1363972668 I've been on sub for 4 years. I take 8-12 mg a day. I was on subutex for 2 years begining in 2004. ow can I do a rapid detox from this med?
Avatar m tn but when she started on Sub it was actually 3 x a day, for the first (I think 5 days) and then 2 x a day for a few days and then to one time a day. When your addiction is totally out of control they will have you dose a few times a day to keep you from relapsing it is a lot mental and as you know physical but the goal in a week is to get you to one tablet a day...... two fold to break the cycle of railing oxy on an hourly basis and physically to adjust your body.
Avatar f tn ( I just don't want to take a suboxone and wd in a couple of days!!
Avatar n tn 5 for a week. Then down to 1mg for a few days, then cut that in half for a few more days. You will get to the point where you are taking literally crumbs. Something else that I have heard that works - if you are taking once dose in the morning each day, try dosing every other day - that will get the medication out of your system quicker because of the long half life. Once you get down to about 1/4mg, you should be able to stop.
Avatar f tn See if your doctor can write you a prescription for some Requip for restlessness, Neurontin for anxiety and malaise, some Flexeril or Soma for a few weeks for muscle spasms and maybe some Seroquel low dose, for sleep and Klonopin which will be helpful for sleeplessness and anxiety. It will make your withdrawals easier. Valerian and Magnesium is sometimes helpful remedies over the counter. The residual symptoms of insomnia and depression can last another few months.
Avatar f tn Cold Turkey would have to be the way for me. I have one shot at this and thats it. And I have a week to do it. So, its all or none......... Thanks for your advice Cathy.....
314128 tn?1226861220 she skipped withdrawals...only used it for a week...the battle is mental tho and goes on for a long long time...unless u r totally mentally ready...the sub will not help with that when used short term...sub wont help with long term as people can still find a way to use on the can actually become a drug of choice for many....gotta be ready mentally and seek aftercare as well to keep u strong...
Avatar n tn Suboxone doctors around here require you be on 30 mg of methadone, not more, and not just ON it, but comfortable on it, and then you have to stop taking methadone for 3 days before starting suboxone. The reason for that is that suboxone knocks any opiate on your dopamine receptors off. (methadone is a very long acting opiate) Right off, and it fills up the dopamine receptors taking the place of the opiate. And it is only a partial opiate agonist and gives NO euphoric or high feeling.
Avatar f tn Call your local Adapt Research center. I live in a 20,000 population town and we have one. They are doing a suboxone study and everything is free. I told them, heck i'd pay and be glad to get help. They are awesome people. From the Dr, to the counselor. They told me this study is going on nationwide. Good luck.
Avatar n tn OMG -- 16 mg?? That is one huge dose of Sub. I was addicted to 140 mg/day of Oxycontin and started on Sub at 2 mg twice a day. Then I tapered from there but not fast enough to avoid some really horrid W/D's -- I was on Sub for 21 days. My opinion is that Sub should only be taken as needed to avoid the really really bad W/D's.
Avatar n tn he has been attending NA meetings and has counseling through another service here in town..... Court Ordered....... but he only has to go to NA once a week for court..... he went last night, and he is gone again tonight..... I hope this means he is serious about quitting this stuff .... it so prevelant where we live (Eastern Kentucky) it is known as Hillbilly Heroin ..... he has lost 5-6 friends bc of this **** ...... there have been small town murders here bc of it also .......
Avatar f tn no, sub for a 2 week old vic addiction is not a wise decision, IMO.
1141221 tn?1261007302 From reading about it on here I have heard the withdrawals are so much worse than other pain meds. Sub is a very strong opiate. I have read that some recommend only using it for a week or so and start tapering off of it around the 3rd day. Like I said, I personally don't know much about it. Someone will come along here shortly and help you out. Just be very careful with the sub as it is a replacement.
