Common Questions and Answers about Suboxone and migraines

suboxone

Avatar m tn hi, i am a suboxone user for 3 years and starting to taper down slowly. i am currently on 1mg morning and 1 mg evening. Yesterday i was prescribed tramadol by a different doctor for my pain and migraine. What i need to know is if it is OK to take tramadol while i am on suboxone? i am afraid that if i take tramadol tonight, the next morning when i dose my suboxone i will feel a very discomfort feeling or withdrawal.
Avatar n tn I started on suboxone 9 days ago and have had a severe migraine everyday. I have had 16mg a day since the first day, my doc was any opiate. anyone else experienced this? thanks!
688488 tn?1227152005 I Have A Horrible Migraine with lower back pain And The Suboxone Is Not Even Touching The Pain. So What Would Happen If I Took A Couple Of Lortabs While On This Medication?
314128 tn?1226857620 Suboxone/Subutex is both a agonist and a antagonist. The agonist part is a pain killer. So yes it would help.......a little.
Avatar n tn A psychiatrist put me on Wellbutrin, Cymbalta, and Lithium. A pain specialist gave me Suboxone. Talk about a miracle drug! No withdrawal symptoms at all, and the other drugs kept me from being depressed, anxious, quick to cycle through emotions. I've done well for two years but recently realized I was using too much hydro again. I've got an appointment to get some more Suboxone. I get migraines once or twice a week so there is no way around the hydro.
Avatar n tn Does anyone know if suboxone can give you migraines. Dont know if its that or w/d's but ive had one for 2 days now and i've heard sub has some side effects?
667913 tn?1242700488 Does anyone know if Suboxone can used as a PRN (for migraines) rather than daily. I'm having so many migraines, but the acetaminophen or ibuprofen in the pain pills cause rebound headaches and it is just a viscous cycle. Thanks for the support. You all rock!
Avatar f tn yes i had a bad headache the first few days i used it. then it went away and now i have one for 4 day since tuesday and its really bad today.
Avatar f tn Subutex is a much safer drug during pregnancy then Suboxone and certainly safer than methadone. It would be best for both you and the baby to be gently tapered off of Subutex while you are still pregnant, so that you are both drug free by the time of the delivery and your baby will not need to go through any withdrawals at all.
Avatar f tn I had a similar question for Dr. Junig and he referred me to the answers he previously posted. I think he is quite a guy and wish that he was in my local area. I have been taking talwin nx for my headaches, which is a mixed agonist-antagonist drug with some different properties than other drugs.
Avatar f tn I have a long history of taking tramadol, vicodin, norco, methadone, and then finally suboxone to get off of the opiates. I felt like it was a miracle pill the first time I took it. The doctors try to keep you on it for a long time. I tapered myself off of it in a month. My problem was basically about 6 to 8 norco(10/325) a day for a couple years straight. I then went to about 6 10mg Methadones a day. I don't know what you are trying to get off.
Avatar f tn The active ingredient is buprenorphrine which is also used to detox addicts off opiates under the brand names Subutex and Suboxone. Suboxone contains an additional ingredient that blocks most of the effects of additional opiates making it a poor choice for pain management since breakthrough meds won't work. Bupe is a very strong, synthetic partial-agonist opiod. That just means that it doesn't sit on the receptors in the brain as nicely as something like morphine or oxycodone.
Avatar f tn My Dr prescribed me Propranolol for my awful, frequent migraines. The first time I took it I felt weird. Now when I take it I feel like I am dope sick. i've tried every other medication for my migraines, but they make me feel like I just did a lot of cocaine! My heart races, my anxiety rises, I shake and can't sleep. Now I feel like it's either live with the migraines or be dope sick without migraines. HELP!!!!
Avatar n tn I'm sorry you and your husband are in this situation. Unfortunately, it definitely was a breach of his pain contract when he filled the old suboxone script. It doesn't matter what the meds are prescribed for, when you are under a pain contract, you are not permitted to get any pain meds of any type from a doctor other than your pain management doc.
Avatar n tn Today is day 7 on the sub for me. And yes, still wake up with mild headaches, they were really bad in the beggining. I take some ibeprophen and that seems to get rid of them. I'm prone to migraines and just regular headaches, so this is not a big surprise to me. Hopefully as your body gets use to the sub. the headaches will go away. Try some ibeprophen. Good luck.
Avatar m tn ve worked very hard to get where I am, and endured and am still enduring much mental and physical pain. 2mg is a low dose of suboxone and I worked really hard to keep it low with hopes of getting off of it. I realize it is an opiate, but it is a partial agonist and supposedly gives the brain a chance to heal. Im not sure mine can heal however, after being on opiates continuously for so long. I fear ultimately I will end up on suboxone maintenance or worse, methadone maintenance.
Avatar f tn I have migraines, three other types of headaches that were diagnosed in addition to migraines, 4 neck discs arthritic and/or bulging and fibromyalgia. I understand pain. I am tired of the pain myself. I wish you well, please don't give up. Listen to your doc and see if your doc will prescribe Suboxone or something similar to lessen your withdrawal symptoms when they occur. Maybe an antidepressant will help if you are not already on one.
745442 tn?1244841925 Headache is a VERY common side effect of suboxone. I had the worst migraines the first week or two..The severity of the headaches will ease up after your body adjusts. I still got mild headaches an hour or so after my sub dose, pretty much throughout the whole time I took it.. but very mild compared to the beginning.. IMO the headache is not withdrawal its the suboxone. 2 advil and 1 tylenol sinus worked well for me (if you are able to take that stuff)...Sub headaches su*ck.
Avatar f tn I called numerous times to see if my doctor can prescribe me Suboxone or something to aid my withdrawal progress and I FIND OUT MY DOCTOR CANNOT EVEN PRESCRIBE THEM!! He isn't "a higher level pain management doctor" as a few others in the clinic and thus only doses his patients with incredible levels of narcotics but cannot aid them to get off. This is disgusting to me. How is this even legal??
Avatar f tn If you become pregnant while taking SUBOXONE, alert your doctor immediately as there may be significant risks to you and your baby; your baby may have symptoms of withdrawal at birth. If you are pregnant or become pregnant while taking SUBOXONE, you should report it using the contact information provided below.* Before taking SUBOXONE, talk to your doctor if you are breast-feeding or plan to breast-feed. SUBOXONE can pass into your milk and may harm the baby.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone! I have decided I'm done taking any narcotics for my pain! I have sacroilitis (sp) anklosing spondylitis. I have been taking them since June of 2011. So a lil over 2 yrs. Started out with Vicodin 5/500 at one a day and slowly progressed to 4 a day then the doc put me on norco 10/325. I started taking only 1.5 of those and over the past 6 months have gotten up to 8-9 a day! I just ran out of my pills early again! Which in the past I have bought for up to 5 bucks a pill!
Avatar m tn I asked my doc if I could get back on it while taking Suboxone and he said yes and perscribed it to me again. My question is if I should be taking these two meds together or not? I know my doc perscribed them to me but I can't help but question if it's ok. Does anyone have any takes on this? I am taking 8mg Sub 2x daily and 30mg Adderall 2x daily right now.

Avatar f tn Also, please keep in mind that Suboxone is an opiate and can be very hard to get off so be careful not to transfer from one drug to another. Move in with your Mom and put this behind you. You have a full life ahead of you and I wish you will find the strength to do what you know is better for you and what will bring you health and happiness. Good luck and God bless!
Avatar f tn t believe me when I tell them they do not have the special training and license to prescribe as with Suboxone. Even the pain specialist I saw believed he would have to have the "special: license". How can I convince them? They all (6 docs) refuse to read the documentation I'd brought to the appointment. Or how do I find a doctor who will prescribe buprenorphine for my chronic, neuropathic pain.
Avatar f tn I have been on suboxone for 3 years. Yesterday, I had 2 teeth pulled and my mother in law gave me some tramadol. Without even thinking (and I think I was under the impression that it wasn’t an opioid) I took a 50mg. My question is.. when can I safely take my suboxone dose? I should also add that I took the tramadol at 1:30pm and it is now 9:00pm and I have not taken any of my next suboxone dose yet. I quickly realized I may have screwed up.
