Suboxone and hydrocodone

Common Questions and Answers about Suboxone and hydrocodone

suboxone

Avatar f tn I was clean from hydrocodone for 4 days and relapsed. I've been relapsing for the past 5 years. I can't stand that I was ever I introduced to hydrocodone! It was never for pain in the past but for the "high" of it. I want to be myself again! I miss me! I have an appointment today with a suboxone doctor and it's suppose to help me have Zero withdrawals and have No More cravings for hydrocodone. I'm praying that this works!
Avatar f tn I was addicted to the same thing. When I became pregnant I told my doctor about it and that I wanted to quit but it was so hard cause if withdrawal. So he put me on suboxone. I've been taking it my whole pregnancy. It makes you feel like hydrocondone does only it's better for your health. It stops you from withdrawing. it also doesn't show up in a drug test either. Anyways yes doctors do drug test you. And yes they can take your baby from you at the hospital if he/she tests positive.
Avatar m tn taken hydrocodone for last 3 years got script for suboxone but told i have to wait for withdrawls before taking it Ive cut back on narcos down to 1/2 every 12 hours when would it be ok to take suboxone with out going into withdrawls
Avatar f tn Yes, it can be done, but personally I think it's a mistake to go on a much stronger drug, like Suboxone or Methadone, to avoid the withdrawal symptoms of a much weaker drug like Hydrocodone, thinking it's an easy way out. IMO if you do it should be only be a low dose for a very brief period, long enough to get over the worst part of Hydrocodone withdrawals, and short a time enough to prevent you becoming addicted to Sub.
Avatar f tn t prescribed in the real world for hydrocodone withdrawal and that I had to get real with myself and realize he was trying to get off something harder. Truth be told he does have classic symptoms of drug abuse, never any money for bills, mood swings, can't keep a job, super energetic a lot of the time then sometimes would sleep a lot, paranoia, etc. When I was with him I just ended up thinking he had a mental disorder. Now I think back and wonder if it was drugs.
Avatar m tn I totally relate to you! Been there.....done that. Get your back fixed and then you can formulate a plan to get off the opiate pain meds. Take it from someone who was addicted to hydrocodone and ignorantly went on subs for 28 days......don't use suboxone to get off hydrocodone. It's MUCH stronger and totally synthetic....and then you'll have to w/draw and get off THAT.
786839 tn?1236479216 I speak from experience when I say that Suboxone is perfectly 100% ok for anyone taking hydrocodone. Hydrocodone was my drug of choice. Personally, I don't think Suboxone is a step up from Hydrocodone at all. It actually isn't compared to hydrocodone one bit. Going from Hydrocodone to Methadone is silly in my opinion, but if it has worked for someone then awesome. I've taken just about anything that's considered an opiate and Methadone is a step up from hydrocodone.
Avatar m tn If ur looking nto Suboxone its a great medicine and will help u out alot. The key is to not get put on a high dose and to not stay on it long term. I used it for 3 months to get off of the methadone. After i made the jump from it i went thru very lil and doable withdrawls. How much hydrocodone are u using and how long have u been using it?...
Avatar f tn Norco* just saying - I got on Suboxone to stop the hydrocodone / Norco withdrawals as soon as I took them again it was immediate addiction then starting all over.
Avatar f tn I'm starting to like our daily talks! haha Here's what happened with me. I was taking 20+ hydrocodone 10/325 pills a day. Granted, I was only prescribed 120 a month, so that's just 6 days worth at my worst state which meant I would have to buy more, or during a certain period of time I would take longer lasting drugs like morphine and oxycontin by buying it off the street until I got popped for a drug screen at work and tested positive for methadone. Could of been worse.....
Avatar n tn Just started Suboxone this week, Im at 4 mg a day. My question is, will Suboxone give me the physical energy and motivation I had pre-opiate addiction? I use to work out daily and do well in school but since becoming an opiate addict my physical energy is no more, I've let myself go, lost nearly 30 lbs of muscle and weigh 145 lbs at 6"2, and I don't have the motivation in life that I once had.
Avatar f tn I decided to get help because I couldnt quit hydro on my own, so I went on suboxone three weeks ago. Doing great and then found out friday I have an abcessed tooth that needs either pulled or root canal. Doc put me on cleocin and gave me Hydrocodone 10/500 for pain until my dental appointment tomorrow. I havent taken it yet cause i know you cant have sub and hydro at the same time.....but Im really hurting.
1091982 tn?1256942513 At the most recent point i was taking 20-25mg of hydrocodone and wearing a 100mcg fentanyl patch. i was fired by my pain management docor for the hydrocodone usage, that has been prevalent throughout our relationship since i had several surgeries and other jaw problems. i had a c-spine fusion with 2 plates and lost all of my top teeth during our time together, and i did tell him i was taking the medications, but i broke our contract by doing that.
Avatar m tn So you have done this before with the pills (same dose it seems) and you have been on suboxone before. You are familiar with Suboxone would guess so what exactly is your question? We are here to help you buddy but I just don't understand. Give us a little more information.
Avatar f tn Vikki is right...talk to your Dr. You should be very careful with the hydros and sub. Could cause BIG problems!
Avatar n tn Like Sandee1818 said once you get on Suboxone and take narcotic pain meds. they will not work Suboxone also has a 37hour half life. If i were you i would taper off the Hydro slowly. I dont know to much about Fentanyl but read it's hard to kick and very nasty whithdrawls. I guess what i'm saying is the same thing happend to me. The pain doc. just did not think the narcotic painmeds. are doing anything for my pain. Im currently on Vicoprofen 7.
781991 tn?1237964779 In my journal I have posted my road to recovery starting with the first days I was off hydrocodone and started suboxone and I have mentioned this trip and how I have hoped to taper off the Suboxone just in time to be 100% off medication when the vacation starts. Some posted a comment that they weren't experienced with Suboxone, but was worried that I would be sick on my vacation, but that maybe I should post the goal on here to get some feedback.
Avatar m tn I was on hydrocodone for 3 and a half years and then was on about 4 different drugs for a few months. Then back on hydrocodone and had a surgery. My biggest question is why do I still feel so bad. I wake up every morning and feel awful. I have anxiety and no energy too. I never had anxiety until I went thru the awful withdrawals from the pain medicines I was on for a few months. I was on hydrocodone before and did not feel this way. Will it ever end? I don't know what will help.
Avatar m tn basically its a study or story on how people are so uniformed and uneducated about Suboxone. Suboxone If interested Google Huffington Post Dying to be free of Heroin. The story is mostly about heroin but if you think about it Oxy Cottin is simply synthetic herion. Personally if I wouldn't have started on Suboxone through a great addiction specialist I would be dead. If taken right and if you take aftercare seriously Suboxone can be a good drug.
781991 tn?1237964779 I'm now 26 days clean from my horrible hydrocodone addiction with the help of Suboxone. The tapering of my Subxone again went well today. I've gone from 16mg to 8mg to 6mg and to where I am now....4mg. I've taken 4mg for 2 days now and will do so again tomorrow before tapering to 2mg. First of all I'm amazed that I even came off hydrocodone after taking 20-25 pills a day, yet alone actually taking a medication responsibly.
Avatar m tn I am tring to find a doctor to help me get off of them.. I have been on suboxone before and it worked well. so i either wanted that or somethng else that will work.
Avatar m tn I tried tapering the suboxone myself and can not function. He said I needed to stay on it and suggested I take two 8 mg. films. I don't want to take that much. I don't feel right on this medicine. I only take one film now. I was down to a half and was in really bad shape. I need something for my chronic back pain after 2 back surgeries. I would rather it be hydrocodone. Then I wouldn't have to pay so much and I would hopefully feel better.
Avatar m tn I used suboxone for a 20+/day hydrocodone habit. The only caution that I have is that suboxone is an opiate too - very strong and long acting. Taking it long term can be challenging to quit that to. Get into a program, work with a therapist, and get into aftercare.
Avatar n tn I have been taking hydrocodone for about 3 years and for the last year have been taking Oxycodone. I really want to stop, but when I don't take the oxy, I get the sweats and chills and my body hurts so bad. I take about 160mg a day. My question is, are these symptoms of withdrawl? and How long will this last?
Avatar f tn In fact, taking Suboxone would be like taking 15 or more Vicodin (hydrocodone) tablets per day! You would be very doped up by even a small dose of Suboxone, and your tolerance would climb much higher than it is now-- making it much more difficult to taper off. At the same time, you shouldn't expose you and the baby to the up and down of opioid dependence. From your current use, I would not anticipate severe withdrawal if you choose to stop.
Avatar n tn com I hope it will not be a problem that you are pregnant. Certainly, it is better for the baby to be weaned off hydrocodone and switched to suboxone. Do it NOW because the baby will go through withdrawl after birth if you wait too long, and that will be awful for all of you. I REALLY HOPE YOU SUCCEED!!!!!
Avatar m tn i was getting from the Hydrocodone, i Just needed it to feel normal....i have a good job and the person who was in charge of random drug testing for my company was a good friend and kept me off the list. one day while driving home i felt so helpless that i just cried out to god for some help. the next day my friend called me and told me that a third party company was going to start the random testing so i called my wife. she set an appointment with a dr. who prescribed me Suboxone.
