Avatar f tn The numbness happened, so did the inability to connect thoughts, the vision, and the ending with vomiting and dehydration. At the time I attributed it to the fact that I was under an incredible amount of stress, had an unhealthy sleep schedule, and because I was a poor college student, a very unhealthy diet. And these things probably are a big part of the reason this happened. But my question is, was this a stoke?
Avatar n tn later I had a cerebellar stroke -- the symptoms were vomiting, vertigo, and complete loss of balance. The ambulance got me to the ER, and the ER drs. at my NYC hospital were great. The CAT scan and MRI revealed the cerebellar stroke (the doctors called it a "significant stroke). After I was discharged I had 8 mths of rehab and finally was able to walk without a walker. Months later my neurologist set me up for a test where the drs.
Avatar n tn My husband has experienced two such "episodes." I call them episodes because he had stroke symptoms that passed before any permanent damage was done. The two episodes were a year and a half apart. The most recent one was two weeks ago. Through online research, my husband discovered the Bowhunter's Stroke. No doctor has diagnosed it, but they have diagnosed the herniated disks in his neck. We are in the process of contacting the doctor with this new information.
233915 tn?1218816727 Your daughter may have migraines, but the fact that she has had one stroke would make me worry about why that happened and why she is having neurological symptoms. Basically, your doctor may end up being right, but I think you may want to get second and third opinions first. At the very least your daughter should be tested for a PFO (paten foramen ovale) which is a small hole in the heart that causes many pediatric strokes and be tested for blood clotting disorders.
Avatar n tn Hello Dear, You probably have hemiplegic migraine where , the symptoms are indicative of vascular disease and can be thought to be stroke. Migraine-specific abortives, the triptans and ergotamines, are currently contraindicated in the treatment of Hemiplegic Migraine because of their vasoconstrictive properties and concerns about stroke You should consult your physician and monitor your blood pressure for there may be chancec of hypertension with migraine. Avatar f tn Sounds like Vasovagal Syncope. Secondly, have you been to a physician after this last episode? Any medications ever prescribed for this?
Avatar f tn I had a stroke Oct 13,2008. I was 37 yrs old, healthy school bus driver who had a physical every year. The only time I was ever in a hospital was each time I gave birth, and I have 5 children. No complications giving birth. Never had high blood pressure.Until the day I had my stroke.

377493 tn?1356505749 eating and drinking normally, full of his usual high energy, no vomiting or lethargy or anything, but could these symptoms come up later? Is there anything else I should be watching for? Thanks so much. I am a worry wart but I figure prevention is far better then dealing with a life threatening issue like heat stroke. Any tips are very much appreciated.
Avatar f tn I do believe she had a heat stroke although with lack of proper temp she was not diagnosed with it. She ended up being completed unresponsive for more than 6 hrs. Yet when she came around she was aware of everything that happened, she just could not physically respond. Was she truly in a coma? Also, now she has no tolerance for heat at all. If it is above 75 degrees she is sick after an hr or two and has to go inside.
Avatar n tn My husband aged 54 had a (embolic) stoke in July, which affected his left side, he recovered quickly and was able to give a brilliant speech at our daughters wedding on august 9th 2008, then suddenly at the end of August his speech began to deteriorate, they detected another stroke which caused this. Now he has no other symptoms other than this speech slur, has anyone any advice. He has been referred to speach therapist, but as yet not seen anyone.
Avatar n tn My father had a similar sounding stroke on Dec. 8, 2006. He seemed pretty alert, spoke well, could swallow, etc. His major problems were left side paralysis and double vision. After about three weeks, he took his first steps and within 2 weeks of that was walking 40 feet with a walker. He was not able to start moving his left hand until about 4 weeks in. At that point, he could move all fingers and make a loose fist.
Avatar n tn She was admitted to the hospital prior to the stroke because of obvious symptoms but the MRI showed nothing. She was sent home and then returned because of increasing difficulties. The major stroke occurred in the NICU the second night of her stay. I was told she was not a candidate for the clot busting drug, tpa.
Avatar f tn bowel inconcistence, along with vomiting her meal. She is losing her balance. When she shook her head she fell over and is listing to the right side. Her head is also on a right tilt. She has always been healthy. Please help, what could this be?
Avatar f tn I feel sweaty, and I am extremely pale. After vomiting, my color starts to return, but I am unable to stand up or move around for the next few hours as I feel extremely weak and just generally out of it. The people who have observed me having these attacks have told me that I'm completely unconcious, however to me it feels like I am not because I can still hear everything everyone says and feel like I might even be talking back, or that I"m trying to talk but can't.
Avatar n tn Late one evening close to two weeks ago my 15 year old Border Collie stood up and here legs were having trouble supporting her. Her front legs regained strength after a couple of minutes, but her rear legs continued to be a problem. Actually, it was not really the legs that were weak but it appeared to be more the muscles from her back, that held everything erect...her rear end was "blowing in the wind" until she finally couldn't balance any more and sat down.
Avatar n tn Hello Dear, Your symptoms are due to dizziness which could be due to the following- - Sudden drop in blood pressure or dehydration which may inhibit blood to the brain causing lightheadedness. - Dizziness may be accompanied by various disorders such as: allergies, hypoglycemia, common cold, fever, diarrhea, vomiting or flu.
Avatar f tn I have found these symptoms all described as Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome. (CVS) I have been fired from jobs from this illness (accused of being hungover even though I've been sober for over 8 years!) I have not been able to get a diagnosis from a doctor, but one Dr. suggested that I was mentally making myself have these episodes. I told him he was right, I look forward to some of the worst physical agony I have ever been through!
Avatar f tn Once I got to the ER the usual stroke symptoms began and resolved over the course of 10 hours or so. The ER immediately did a CT scan but it didn't really show anything. They called in neurology who didn't get there for another 4-5 hours. By then the numb disjointed thing had gone away, my speech was slurred, the left side of my face was dropped. Heparin IV was started and I was admitted. They did an MRI as soon as they could which showed the evidence of the mild stroke.
Avatar n tn Is there a relationship between ringing in left ear, dizziness, nausea and vomiting and Stroke. I had those symptoms over a year before my Stroke. My second question may seem ignorant, but here goes. When I was in the Hospital, I was told that I had Heart failure as well as a Stroke. Did the Heart failure cause the Stroke, or did the Stroke cause the Heart failure. Thanks in advance for the help.
927213 tn?1270014966 I don't know. Did she have any symptoms of heat exhaustion going alongside this weakness in her legs? (Such as: heavy panting/breathing TOO deeply/salivation/distress of any kind?).....[later stages include: dry gums as the heat prostration progresses, weakness, confusion or inattention, vomiting or diarrhea and sometimes bleeding. As the condition progresses towards heat prostration or heat stroke there may be obvious paleness or graying to the gums.
Avatar f tn I am not trying to scare you but a stroke is rather serious. Do some research and if you think the symptoms match up force her to see a doctor. whether she believes in them or not this could save her from having a more serious stroke, which could do anything from paralyzing one side of the body or even death. I'm sorry to scare or worry. As I said, I may be wrong, this is only a best guess from a college student, who works with children and took a first aid and cpr course.
Avatar n tn My DX is vertigo, but I was told yesterday, by someone with vertigo, that is not what I have. They are staying away from the word stroke because it seems I'm too young at 35 to have one of those. What led to my dizinness and nausea is different, but I'm left with same. One day can be good with little dizziness, and some days bad, but the nausea has worn off. I don't get nausiated all the time anymore with the diziness.
