Common Questions and Answers about Stroke symptoms jaw pain

stroke

Avatar n tn Hi, your symptoms sound like you could have TMJ. Do you have problems with your jaw popping or clenching your teeth? Does your face get sore or do you have headaches? It is possible you have inflammation in the joints (TMJ) this isthe jaw bone joint located near your ear. Just have an MRI done and see, you may need braces to correct the problem if in fact it is that. This problem can come with headaches, jaw soreness, gum soreness, tingling handes..
Avatar f tn At the time of the EKG, I didn't have that episode I had a couple days ago (sweating, pressure in chest, and trouble breathing) Is that why the EKG came back normal because at the time I didn't have these symptoms; just chest and jaw pain. I still have chest and jaw pain now. I feel lightheaded sometimes also. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar n tn Have had teeth and ears checked, they are o.k. On meds for diabetes, blood pressure, anxiety and stroke for 2 years. Could these symptoms be hormone related? What to do?
659608 tn?1318292966 I have been having chest pain, a heaviness with shortness of breath for several months, with symptoms getting worse. I have dizzy spells, very often during the day, have some pain under the rib area, It seems worse with exertion. I have had a thallium stress test, that showed no blockage, but some irrigularities, don't know what yet, have appointment next week with a cardioligist. On a ER visit, had CT scan with dye, nothing found.
Avatar m tn I have tmj and had to pay an orthodontist $2,300 but it was worth it because within 6 months the jaw pain went away. He said a dentist doesn't know how to make upper jaw splints and guaranteed an upper would work and for 6 years he has been correct. I threw my dentist's splint away, and stopped asking him any tmj questions. Don't let tmj go unchecked for too long or you might have to get the operation.
Avatar n tn I am a 49 yr old female, who smokes, no Hypertension or diabetes, I have had all symptoms of Stroke/TIA, I had radiating pain down L arm, numbing/tingling up L side of face, profuse sweating, dizziness, I also had slight pain across jaw, no weakness though, this has happened more than one time, all of my test come out negative, is that normal for a TIA that nothing shows? I am afraid that when or if I have a stroke, that will be it since everything comes up negative.
Avatar m tn Please include reference ranges... Is it possible you might have had a stroke (pain in left arm, neck and jaw pain)? Even a mini stroke? Have you been tested for vitamin B-12 deficiency? Do you have diabetes and if so, is it under control? Please post thyroid related blood test results with reference ranges and we can go from there.
Avatar n tn Just one quick question as a follow up. Now I'm having no jaw pain, no speech difficulty, nothing. Is this possible if I'd had a stroke?? Thanks again.
Avatar n tn Out of concern that this might be stroke (or something else serious), this combiniation of symptoms led me to ER. MRI and CT were normal. Left arm weakness went away after a week or so but general mailaise continued. I followed up with a neurologist but he said since MRI and CT were "normal" as well as exam, we could ""rule out the bad stuff".
Avatar n tn I am wondering how many POTS symptoms could be linked to the pain and swelling under my jaw/ears. POTS causes dizziness, swollen glands...among other things... One thought is to research POTS and eliminate it as a possible cause of your illness. Another thought... Who is smoking, eating dairy, living in a high humidity clime? Has anyone had interior jaw chiropractic work done? How about Rolfing? All these things I think could contribute significantly to this swelling, fullness, and pain.
Avatar n tn Hi, Please help! I suddenly had a sharp pain in the joint of my jaw, right under my ear, two weeks ago and my neck and throat were sore. I went to a doctor thinking I had an ear infection. The doctor said my neck had a cold. Since then the pain has increased terribly to my shoulder and back of left side of skull at the base and it is swollen. There is also some numb and tingling in my jaw and ear. Since Friday night I also started having this zapping feeling that is in my left foot.
Avatar n tn Have you been assessed for these symptoms by a Neurologist ? If you could not feel the pain due to the nail, it means there is numbness on the fingers. Have you checked for Diabetes ? And I would recommend a complete neurological examination at the hands of a Neurologist.
Avatar n tn intense, throbbing pain in left eye that moved to include her whole left side, confusion, loss of memory, motor impairment, and extreme fatigue and weakness. CT scan showed seizure activity, but MRA and MRA came back negative for stroke. She was sent home after 2 days and a physical therapist was sent to the house to help her recuperate her motor skills and strength. She did not improve in these areas, nor did her memory improve.
Avatar f tn My daughter had a stroke in her thalamus at age 17 and is still having headaches 2 years later... every day... any ideas for treatment or diagnosis??? Her doctor says that it is migraines and the two are not related. It seems like too much of a coincidence to me. Can a stroke cause persistent headaches and what is the treatment????
Avatar n tn It usually follows pain in the extreme left of my rib cage under my arm. It's a very dull pain followed by the arm tingling/weakness and that, combined with my head troubles, freaks me out. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as this is having really negative impacts on me and is carrying over into all aspects of my life. I'm having real troubling mood swings too, which I think is brought about by lack of sleep and new job syndrome.
Avatar n tn For the last 5 years I have had a feeling of extreme pressure in my head, at first sporadic but now pretty much constant. The symptoms are a sense of pressure around the temples, near the vein in the front (external) portion of the ear (near the temple), and a periodic tension/tightness in my cheeks & scalp.
230948 tn?1235847929 (at different times) Lately, in this new flare of symptoms, I’m having facial numbness and tingling. Then, I started getting jaw pain, in not only my right jaw…but now my left jaw too. Every time I chew…it sets it off…just like it used to do to my right jaw. With all these facial/jaw episodes…I’m now wondering if all along, I’ve had Trigeminal Neuralgia. I have a couscin with MS, TN, & Fibro. Any thoughts???
Avatar f tn Hello all, I have dealt with health anxiety for the last 2 years have recently been feeling abbot weird on the right side of my body specifically including heavy right eyelid, tingling in my jaw area, neck/shoulder pain as well as pain in my right hip that extends to my thigh and causes tingles in middle toes. I am in pretty good shape, don't snow and would say I am just avoiding being a heavy drinker although I never binge drink and cannot remember the last time I was intoxicated.
Avatar m tn About an hour after the pain set in, my left arm went totally numb, as well as the left side of my jaw. Although not all heart attacks come with such pain, as my second one I had no pain at all, I just didn't feel right, but was having a heart attack anyway. The pains probably would have set in if I had waited. However, yours does sound like a bit of anxiety over what is causing the pain, and why no one can tell you exactly.

Avatar f tn I am not diagnosed, my very first neuro appointment is in the morning. Just wanted to let you know I have the same symptoms with my jaw (just on the right side) with face pain and "phantom tooth pain." It hurts to even eat. Hopefully someone will come along with better advice. I wanted you to know you aren't alone.
Avatar m tn I am a 21 year old female and have experienced a sudden onset of symptoms. The tips of my second toes on both feet went numb one evening. Over the next couple of days the left side of my body went numb. The numbness increases and decreases in strength at random times. I feel pins and needles randomly all over my body. The numbness is on my face as well, associated with a dull pain specifically by my jaw. I have seen several doctors over the past two weeks and had many tests done.
Avatar n tn They looked in my throat and said it was fine and sent me home. I had no pain in my throat, I had no cold symptoms. I was hoarse for a day and then it went back to normal. The ER also said that my ear looked like it had pressure in it like I had been flying on an airplane. She asked if I had been traveling recently. I told her no. She told me to try and pop my ears. Here recently in the past few weeks I wake up in the middle of the night with trouble swallowing like my throat is stuck.
Avatar n tn i have went to the er and family doc serveral times for this and they did tests to make sure i had no signs of stroke. they can not find anything. ct scan was normal, xrays normal, blood tests normal. my face got a wierd burny numb feeling. My head also feels like its on fire with a fever but i have no fever. All these symptoms i feel cause me to have anxeity so they put me on celexa, trazadone and lexapro. They do not help at all.
Avatar f tn my first symptoms were stroke like symptoms. I could not walk the next day. it was hard to lift my legs.
Avatar n tn Alot of your symptoms sound like anxiety problems. Try some anti-anxiety medications like Klonopin.
Avatar n tn No headache, nausea, muscle weakness, bels palsy or any of the other signs of stroke. I'm 38 and otherwise healthy. I have had some jaw pain the last few weeks. My dentist says I grind my teeth. I have been under a fair amount of stress lately. It's not debilitating, I'm just not sure how concerned I need to be. Any ideas are welcome. Thanks.
