Common Questions and Answers about Stroke symptoms jaw pain

stroke

Avatar n tn I've had an intermittent tingling in my ear and on my face for several days. It lasts 20-30 seconds though it sometimes turns to mild pain and also sometimes includes my jaw and cheekbone. It's mostly on the right side of my face, though I've felt some on the left side as well. I've seen two doctors who couldn't identify it. I have no other symptoms. No headache, nausea, muscle weakness, bels palsy or any of the other signs of stroke. I'm 38 and otherwise healthy.
Avatar m tn Do you wear a splint for the clinching? If not, you can grind your teeth down so you might have to get your dentist to make one. I have tmj and had to pay an orthodontist $2,300 but it was worth it because within 6 months the jaw pain went away. He said a dentist doesn't know how to make upper jaw splints and guaranteed an upper would work and for 6 years he has been correct. I threw my dentist's splint away, and stopped asking him any tmj questions.
Avatar f tn Oh, dear. This signals a stroke or heart attack. Whomever is having these symptoms MUST go straight to the ER, and if they cannot transport themselves, call 9-1-1. That numbness on one side and nausea is a sure-fire sign of stroke, and it must be treated within a certain period of time to prevent damage from becoming permanent or disabling.
Avatar n tn I am a 49 yr old female, who smokes, no Hypertension or diabetes, I have had all symptoms of Stroke/TIA, I had radiating pain down L arm, numbing/tingling up L side of face, profuse sweating, dizziness, I also had slight pain across jaw, no weakness though, this has happened more than one time, all of my test come out negative, is that normal for a TIA that nothing shows? I am afraid that when or if I have a stroke, that will be it since everything comes up negative.
Avatar f tn No history of cancer. No stroke symptoms. No MS. No swelling, allergies, nothing. Literally just lip numbness but it is FREAKING me out...no dental work lately. No infection. No pain. Could I have slept super wrong on my belly and pinched a nerve?
1385138 tn?1279928966 Following 2 MVA's and treated for a head and neck injury was adjusted by a chiropractor 15 months ago and have had unilateral facial edema 3 x weekly with reddness of the cheek area on occassion. It is exacerbated with chores, typing and walking dogs. I was placed on several seizure neds and presently on Epitol which seems to help, I have had negative MRI, and MRA's for lesions or tumors.
Avatar f tn Hello all, I have dealt with health anxiety for the last 2 years have recently been feeling abbot weird on the right side of my body specifically including heavy right eyelid, tingling in my jaw area, neck/shoulder pain as well as pain in my right hip that extends to my thigh and causes tingles in middle toes. I am in pretty good shape, don't snow and would say I am just avoiding being a heavy drinker although I never binge drink and cannot remember the last time I was intoxicated.
Avatar f tn It was only on my right side. It was followed by chest pain, shortness of breathe, jaw pain, and right side heavy feeling in head. My neck felt stiff and then my arm felt weak. It didn't all happen at once. The tingling keeps happening too. It keeps coming and going, my body feels cold too... is it amxiety, stroke, or heart attack?
Avatar f tn I would rather die at 40 than put my family in the street. I just want to know if these are serious symptoms of heart or stroke, so I can make sure my wife or kids don't find daddy dead in the hall or something, I'm ready to go somewhere and let it happen to protect my family's finances. Any advise would be great.
Avatar f tn I am not diagnosed, my very first neuro appointment is in the morning. Just wanted to let you know I have the same symptoms with my jaw (just on the right side) with face pain and "phantom tooth pain." It hurts to even eat. Hopefully someone will come along with better advice. I wanted you to know you aren't alone.
659608 tn?1318289366 I have been having chest pain, a heaviness with shortness of breath for several months, with symptoms getting worse. I have dizzy spells, very often during the day, have some pain under the rib area, It seems worse with exertion. I have had a thallium stress test, that showed no blockage, but some irrigularities, don't know what yet, have appointment next week with a cardioligist. On a ER visit, had CT scan with dye, nothing found.
Avatar f tn My daughter had a stroke in her thalamus at age 17 and is still having headaches 2 years later... every day... any ideas for treatment or diagnosis??? Her doctor says that it is migraines and the two are not related. It seems like too much of a coincidence to me. Can a stroke cause persistent headaches and what is the treatment????
Avatar n tn (from strokassociation.org - but also applies to pets) Also called TIAs, transient ischemic attacks are minor or warning strokes. In a TIA, conditions indicative of an ischemic stroke are present and the typical stroke warning signs develop. However, the obstruction (blood clot) occurs for a short time and tends to resolve itself through normal mechanisms. Even though the symptoms disappear after a short time, TIAs are strong indicators of a possible major stroke.
987762 tn?1671273328 The only exceptions to this rule are certain spinal cord lesions and the medullary syndromes, of which Wallenberg syndrome is the most famous example. In Wallenberg syndrome, a stroke causes loss of pain/temperature sensation from one side of the face and the other side of the body." Not saying i've had a stroke but the cross over is interesting, as is 'spinal cord lesions' got to love those peski little beggers.
Avatar m tn Since that incident I have had head aches and dizziness on and off for this past yr. I have noticed increased jaw pain that extends from my jaw near my earlobe up to the front/top side of my ear. My question is what damage could have I caused in that yelling incident. I had no previous problems before it. Where do I go from here. Should I see a dentist or oral surgeon. Your comments are greatly appreciated!
Avatar f tn Thx. My jaw has been doing the repetive movement for about 3 weeks. Approx. within the last time they reduced the Dep. this last time, they do it again on the 5th of each mth. I've always had restless legs though, & the pursing of my lips off & on is brand new. I see the p-doc later this coming week to review things & I think (know) I'll be asking a lot of questions! My 1st stroke was 8 yrs ago, my ex cut my corotid artery & I suffered the stroke as a result.

Avatar n tn intense, throbbing pain in left eye that moved to include her whole left side, confusion, loss of memory, motor impairment, and extreme fatigue and weakness. CT scan showed seizure activity, but MRA and MRA came back negative for stroke. She was sent home after 2 days and a physical therapist was sent to the house to help her recuperate her motor skills and strength. She did not improve in these areas, nor did her memory improve.
Avatar f tn i am un able to clench my jaw and my speech is as though i have had a stroke. my gp seems baffled...
Avatar f tn Two days later, it had radiated up to my jaw and ear (still right side only) and sometimes would cause me to feel pain behind my right eye-sort of like a migraine. A day after that I had pain at the base of my skull on the right side alone with an almost burning sensation in my neck and shoulder.
Avatar n tn Another thing the patient may want to look into- what kind of shape her TMJ discs are in (it takes an MRI to look at the discs and not just the jaw bones) and whether she might be getting pain from a temporal mandibular jaw dysfunction. I get very bad pain in my jaws that can lead to migraines when I talk extensively. Though the only time I recall it feeling numb versus the swollen feeling I often get was after a car accident where I got severe whiplash... then my right jaw went numb.
Avatar n tn I am 29, generally good health up till last few months I have been having these same symptoms; left side of jaw will tense up, back-left of neck pain... I have a desk job also, and currently, when I wake up I have no symptoms at all - but as the day progresses the symptoms appear and increase throughout the day. I have been trying to work on my posture to try and improve on these. Mainly, when I talk on the phone, and hold the phone with my shoulder is when symptoms are immediately evident...
5283093 tn?1379164447 heart attach ,stroke... every major thing has simple signs and symptoms how can I know if I am in danger ?if every major and minor thing has almost like same symptoms ?
Avatar f tn Since last Sunday (6 days now), I have had a strong headache on the left side of my head, just above my left ear. It is like an intermittent jab that make me stop for a moment what I am doing. There are no other apparent symptoms. Usually, I don't take any pain medications. However, I have been taking Advil since then, even though the pain is not gone. Could you tell me the symptoms of a blood clot, stroke or any idea what this pain may be related with?
