Common Questions and Answers about Stroke symptoms chills

stroke

Avatar n tn These last from 1/2 hour to several hours, and lately, since the stroke, the chill episodes are followed by distinct changes in my stroke symptoms - Nerve sensations and numbness are either worse or better, different areas are subject to numbness than before, and one session even led to a paralysed arm having motor function return (limited) after the chills.
Avatar n tn Hello, Night sweats, chills and joint pain are all features of menopause.Other symptoms are irritability and mood swings, hot flashes, night sweating, irregular periods, decreased blood loss during periods, dry vagina, breast heaviness and tenderness and joint and muscle pain. I advise you to consult your gynecologist and start with hormone replacement therapy after confirming the status of your menopause.
Avatar n tn My FIL had the same symptoms as you last spring and he was diagnosed with a minor stroke or TIA. All of his symptoms did not disappear - he is left with slight paralysis in one leg. It took a couple of weeks for the other symptoms to disappear. My aunt also suffers from TIA's but usually after a minor TIA there remains a slight defect that appears permanent - sometimes mental and sometimes physical. I guess my question would be - do you have any permanent damage from your "attacks"?
744637 tn?1250806622 Hi, It is difficult to differentiate complicated migraine from stroke. The symptoms of stroke develop very rapidly while the symptoms of complicated migraine develop insidiously. MRI and CT scan in patients of stroke shows the characteristic small vessel ischemic changes. The best treatment for migraine is recognition and avoidance of trigger. Medications like NSAIDS are used to abort acute attacks of migraine. Other medications include butalbital, isometheptene and botox.
Avatar n tn My husband has had fever of around 102 degrees, severe headache, chills and night sweats. This has been going on for a week. He has had blood tests, urine tested, head and chest x-rays, cat scan and spinal tap. Nothing can be found. The doctors say it is a severe viral syndrome that could last 10 to 14 days. He has lost 10 pounds and is very weak and unable to stay up for very long. He has not been able to go to work for the last 4 days. Is there any other diagnosis for this?
Avatar m tn Thinking he would be in the a/c he went back to work the next day and had to be outside to fix a part on the equipment he was running which set him off to a severe headache, he quit sweating, dry and hot, his muscles were starting to cramp and he said he felt like he could vomit, but never did. He had all the symptoms of a stroke, but didn't lose consciousness. When he finally got home, he got on the couch and ran fever of 100+ all night. He was bad enough he didn't try to go to work today.
422425 tn?1307996590 I have never posted in this forum, but I have been having a period of strange seizure like symptoms. Just wondering if anyone on this board has the same thing. I starts out with a pressure in the back of my head, and something like chills. I get really nauseated, and my throat start to gag, and I feel like I am going to pee my pants. It lasts for a minute or two. It happens all the time, I could be reading or lying down and it happens or driving which scares me.
Avatar f tn Sometimes he can feel them coming on by having cold chills in his head and other times he is having them in his sleep. What happens is he becomes disoriented, his gait becomes unsteady, he slurs his speech, has trouble finding words, has dysuria and sometimes anuria even though he feels the urge to urinate, his pulse becomes very low 40's sometimes 50s, and he will fall asleep and cannot be aroused for hours.

Avatar f tn A little over 2 mo. ago I started to experience soreness in my left eye. There was movement in the left corner of my eye There also was a reddish brown film covering the lower 1/8 of my eye. This continued to progress until a cloud covered my whole eye. Although it is less dense in the lower half than it was originally, the blurryness persists.

Avatar f tn I have a very complicated case and if anyone has had any similiar symptons from West Nile Virus or other ideas on what is going on, I would appreciate it. A little over 2 months ago I started to experience soreness in my left eye. There was movement in the left corner of my eye--(I kept thinking I was seeing something like a black cat--but of course there was nothing), There also was a reddish brown film covering the lower 1/8 of my eye.

Avatar n tn Neuromuscular disorders like multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injury, movement disorders, medications, stroke can cause involuntary muscle contractions. Meanwhile you should take adequate rest and relax. Try doing some simple exercisers for neck and back muscles .You should seek medical care. A complete evaluation will help in determining the cause of these symptoms. You will need blood tests, a metabolic profile, x ray cervical spine and other tests depending on the suspected cause.
Avatar f tn I WAS AT MY OFFICE AND SUDDENLY I FELT EXTREMELY COLD WITH FLU LIKE SYMPTOMS AND TINGLING ON MY LEFT ARM FACE AND MY LEGS. I THOUGHT I WAS HAVING A STROKE, ALSO HAD A HEADACHE NOT UNCOMMON FOR ME. I WENT TO MY DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY AND I WAS TOLD I WAS NOT ONLY DEHYDRATED BUT SUFFERING FROM ANXIETY. I DO TAKE VALIUM FOR ANXIETY BUT I HAVE NEVER FELT LIKE THIS BEFORE I GET REALLY COLD IN THE MORNING AND CHILLS THAT SEEM TO LAST FOR HOURS.
Avatar f tn I have been reading all the above stories and have some of these symptoms but not all. My chills do not hurt they just make me feel awful because I am so cold. I do get shoulder and neck pain and suffer from anxiety, taking Paroxetine for this. Any ideas anyone?
Avatar f tn I've had the same symptoms you all describe off and on in a random pattern for at least 15 years now. (I'm 53). I'll be just going about my business and then out of the blue one of these attacks will hit me and everything will go fuzzy and I feel hot and as if I'm going to faint. I have to sit or lie down until the feeling passes--which usually just takes seconds. I was tested 10 years ago for my heart, had a MRI too and they didn't find anything wrong with me at that time.
Avatar f tn The question I would want to know, is if this was a stroke, what was the cause. If her symptoms were only temporary, then it was not likely a stroke but something either called a transient ischemia attack (TIA) likely from disease in a carotid artery. In TIAs the symptoms are only temporary (ie transient) and the CT scan of the head is usually normal. If left untreated, 30% of these patients will develop a stroke within 2 years.
Avatar n tn I realize that I may just be having menopause symptoms, as I am 45 years old, but I also wonder if I might be having stroke symptoms. I have been worrying a lot about this lately, and I am not prone to anxiety. I don't want to lose my health insurance by letting a doctor I don't even know pillage my policy until they cancel me, but I also don't want to skip any tests if in fact I have some cardio-related problems.
Avatar f tn -( Cant swallow Im normally awake everynight till at least 3am Sometimes I get a weird head feeling Upset stomach Cold chills Sometimes Im shaky like Ive been drinking caffeine all day These are the reoccurring symptoms. But Kel5 is right. Focusing on the symptoms often worsens things (at least on my end). I take Xanax as needed because Im afraid Im going to become a drug addict :-( Sometimes I dont know what else to do but sit and listen to music or distract myself till I get sleepy.
Avatar n tn I am very easily fatigued and get out of breath easily. I have periodic chills. Sometimes I shake and feel a bit nauseas. I feel dizzy or light-headed a lot. I am clumsier and more disconnected. I have periodic ringing in the ears. My memory and word recall has been horrible. Sometimes my right arm feels weak. I do have appointments scheduled with a Cardiologist and Neurologist. I am just wondering if this is normal and how long until it subsides. Anyone remember these symptoms?
Avatar n tn Then around day 45, after a day of working in the sun, i came down with what i thought at the time was heat stroke or dengue fever; headache, chills, fatigue, and loss of appetite. this lasted approximately five days and then i felt fine again. then around day 60 i experienced a bad case of diarrhea and went to the doctors once again. they took a stool sample said it was bacterial, and with some antibiotics AGAIN i was better in a few days.
1038794 tn?1252925252 Agree with ENTMD, sounds Neurovascular. As ENTMD suggested, I would try to get an appointment sooner to see the Neurologist. Definitely no ENT Situation I think. Sounds like you had preeclampsia before this birth and it has not really resolved. You should also post in the Maternal and Child Community.
Avatar f tn I switch from sweats to chills. My restless legs (body) is driving me crazy. I feel like I can't do this. I started taking hydros a few years ago for back pain. The pain got worse and the doctor would just prescribe more. Then I was in a roll over car accident and the pain got even worse and included my neck. I demanded an MRI and they discovered tumors and cysts on my overies and bone spurs with a buldging disk in my neck. I had surgery last July to remove overies, etc.

Avatar m tn Itching all over especially arms hands legs feet and back Hot and Cold chills Chest pains Stomach pains Heart pounding Stiff arms legs and back Dizziness Light headed Always tired I have had these symptoms for a month now. Went to 2 doctors who said its anxiety and stress Is this possible?
Avatar n tn Hi, Since about a year ago I've had a handful of weird physical symptoms, and everything the doctors have come to conclude has been related somehow to anxiety. I'm currently taking Librax(Chlordiazepoxide and Clidinium) for what they think is Irritable Bowel Syndrome and it has relieved those symtpoms (diarrhea, frequent bowel movements, irregular bowel movements) for the most part. Recently I've felt new symptoms: Dizziness - It's a weird dizziness.
