Common Questions and Answers about Stroke risk questionnaire

stroke

Avatar m tn If you want to understand you have to realize that there is NO decent information on stroke rehab except for what you research yourself. Ask any stroke doctor and see if you get anything other than ' I know nothing' or the vacuous comment 'Every stroke is different, every stroke recovery is different'. Ask your instructor how survivors are supposed to get better if all their doctors are doing is waiting for the spontaneous recovery of 6-12 months.

Avatar f tn Hi, it’s unlikely its stroke. It could be a bad dream. And everybody has these occasional stressful dreams. But if they occur repeatedly or are interfering with your sleep schedules, you can consult a sleep specialist. It could be a nightmare disorder. This can be assessed by a sleep questionnaire and therapy is based on the severity of symptoms. Best Regards.
Avatar n tn The rsik of stroke is higher when in Afib than when not. However, for true statistics, i recommend you look on the american heart association website under their entry for a-fib. Being on blood thinner is the right course of action. Talk to a professional about the true risk differential. Best wishes.

Avatar m tn I would echo yodennis' remarks on the encephalopathy and the risk it has on your occupation. Most do not even realize that they are experiencing the changes until a substantial time loss is identified or others around them point it out to them. The risk for your occupation is the memory loss and severe disorientation, which can also result in high anxiety. As the condition worsens, it is recommended that folks do not even driving a car to the store.

Avatar f tn would anyone feel comfortable answering a questionnaire i have designed towards people who take regular medication?
Avatar f tn The test came back as nothing to worry about and the diagnosis was Sinus Tachycardia which it is believed is due to my being anxious and always on the alert. I was prescribed Atenolol and have taken it ever since. It keeps my pulse rate down. I have never had high blood pressure and keep myself fit and well by attending the gym and walking a lot. I have since had further E.C.G. which also came back as Sinus Tachycardia and I was simply advised to try Yoga to relax me.
Avatar f tn I have never heard of that before. I don't honestly see how it could cause a stroke. I know that stroke is the biggest risk of afib.

Avatar f tn Atrial fibrillation is linked to an increased risk of stroke. The most common mechanism is sluggish blood flow in the atria which then leads to the formation of blood clots. These blood clots form in the atria and can migrate from the heart to the brain to cause a stroke. There are five major predictors of stroke in patients with AFib.
Avatar m tn Aspirin or coumadin are for clots, (Antithrombotic and Thrombolytic Therapy), the American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP) recommended coumadin for atrial fibrillation patients at high risk of stroke, aspirin for patients at low risk of stroke, and either drug of patients with an intermediate risk. The ACCP defines a low-risk patient as younger than 65 years with no predisposing risk factors (e.g., previous stroke, TIA, embolism, heart failure, hypertension, diabetes).
