stroke

Avatar n tn Everyone please remember, they can hear you and need to be kept informed with what is going on not just with their recovery, but also family issues, the weather, success stories about stroke recovery etc. Strokes cause extreme depression so it's good to constantly reinforce that they are not fighting alone and that you are striving to help them improve. We have combined an arsenal to fight for my father's recovery. Prayer, faith, hope, love, energy healing, research etc.
Avatar m tn When she finally started to come around, they did another cat scan and discovered that she had another stroke while in the coma. It has been a very long recovery. Mom is in a wheelchair as the stroke affected her left side and she has left neglect. there are many other details around her condition but the one that leaves me with the biggest question is that her left side is not paralyzed to the point where it is without feeling or movement.
Avatar n tn I was just wondering how you are doing now. They say every stroke is different and every recovery is different....
Avatar n tn does anyone know what the recovery time is for this type of stroke and the prognosis? we have done alot of praying and the doctors can't tell us anything. they want us to give up on her and place her in long term care...but we plan to bring her home and give her the love and attention she needs along with therapy...
Avatar f tn I am still suffering severe pain in my neck and shoulders and heavily depend on pain relief (Endone) I feel like I am never going to be normal again. Has anyone had the surgery and what was your recovery like...how long until the pain subsides?
Avatar n tn I surrvived a stroke almost 6yrs. ago...2 weeks after my son was born, I was 29 at the time. I am now 35 and about 3mos. pregnant. It was not an easy decision, but I have been stable all this time and the docs said that I should be fine. There is one other person who I write to who had 2 more babies after having her stroke. It definitely helps to have to her to talk to....It's not an easy decision!
1572541 tn?1310212023 I had a stroke caused by the medication risperdal. My dr. was very negligent in giving it to me. She took me off the meds that were woking cold turkey which is a no-no as well. 1mg clonapin 3 times a day to none overnight. This alone is dangerous but to then prescibe me ridsperdal on top of that is attempted manslaughter. If I had the money I would sue them. Has anyone else had a stroke due to risperdal? It has been 6 months and I am recovering.
Avatar n tn My brotherinlaw is recovering from a very severe stroke which pretty much shut down the left side of his body. He spent a couple of weeks in ICU, then a few weeks in a stroke care section of the hospital, then 4 months in a skilled nursing facility (SNF). He was 67 when the stroke occured. He is now home, and my sister is his primary caregiver - a fulltime job at this time. He is now able to walk across the house, and go up and down stairs.
Avatar f tn I'm a 47 year old male that had sepsis and multi-organ failure. I'm a trainer and am having a hard time with this slow recovery...I was in the ER Dec. 12 and out Dec 24, 2009. When I entered the ER, my bp was 60/40, hr 184 and a fever of 104.5. They thought that I wouldn't make it. So glad that I did! It is now Feb 16, 2010. Any idea what kind of recovery time I should expect? I feel that that I am 50 plus % of my old self right now...please advise. Thank you!
Avatar n tn Bottom line is that I feel my surgery was very successful and recovery will be quick. I know there are others out there that have had success. Yes it was scary deciding on the surgery, but I'm glad I did.

544292 tn?1268886268 Hi Tramadol Warriors, Many people have come here for many years, giving support and getting support. Because I still believe that Tramadol is unique in it's ... terror and torture of humans, this thread continues. The people who can understand what you are going thru are the people who have kicked it and there's people here who come back to lend a hand. You also will never need an understanding ear as much. You can do it. You can quit. You do not need to be a slave to Tramadol.
Avatar n tn I was able to return to my job within a month of the stroke. I know that I am very luck as a stroke patient and I'm very thankful for that. But I do have some residual effects that will likely be with me the rest of my life (weak/heavy/tingly left side, minor equalibrium problems if I turn too fast or bend over) What I'm hoping to get help with is, finding a good source of information for an exercise program I can do at home and/or the gym to optimize and improve my health.
1572849 tn?1295837025 Sammy, I am sorry to hear you had a stroke. I had a major one in Jan. 2010. Mine affected my left side which deals the mental aspect and yours sounds like the right side which is mainly physical. Regardless, I know how hard it can be and your life is changed in an instant by having a stroke. With a stroke there are no easy answers. I stopped asking my doctor questions because he really didn't know and told me as much when he said, "a stroke is a mystery.
