1512628 tn?1304977664 I have meds for the orthostatic hypotension. Because my migraines mimick stroke traditional prevention and treatment are out of the question lest they cause an actual stroke. I don't get a headache every time I faint but when I do they usually progress to a migraine. Not all of them are complex migraines but I am looking for any help or suggestions. My doctors are treating the symptoms but no hope for a cause. If anyone has any helpful info. I would greatly appreciate it.

Avatar m tn 2 weeks later, I had a pale optic nerve and I could only see 30% of my vision, basically the top left corner and a tiny bit at the bottom right corner. Everything else was black. RS told me I had an optic nerve stroke due to stress on the optic nerve but it honestly sounded like "i don't know the answer so I'm going to give a vague and general answer". When I asked if it could have been caused by the surgery, RS told me maybe indirectly but not directly.
Avatar n tn My neurologist says I can't take TCA because of the type of migraines I am speculated to have. TCAs are used for migraine abortion/prevention, too, and she warned that they may cause stroke. I can't explain why, as I'm not a neurologist. I refuse MAOIs because you basically have to restrict all aspects of life. I've looked into Lyrica and Gabapentin but don't know much. Again, end of my rope. Meds are causing me more anxiety than my anxiety is! What a change.
Avatar m tn Rarely have any back problems anymore simply due to a prevention program, even though I play golf, which is not at all good for a back. The prevention is simple - yoga. Find a good class nearby and perhaps one of Rodney Yee's books and prevent it. After some classes you can do it on your own if self-motivated or perhap you will need a regular class to keep it up. A side bnefit is that yoga 'suppossedly' ? can give some mild benefit to the liver and other internal organs.
Avatar f tn We all have our comfort levels and I think medicine has progressed in a very positive way, extending and improving lives of many people. It has been beneficial also in the prevention of disease as in the distribution of many vaccines that have been introduced in the past fifty years! How about the life saving medicines called antibiotics? Don't you realize how many people used to die from infections?
Avatar n tn My dissection resulted in a stroke and my artery is closed forever. You were lucky! My stroke doc says he sees many dissections in people doing less than what I was doing. Like you, my headache started within a couple of hours of me completing the race. Looking back, I feel that was an indicator that something was not right. As far as exercise goes, no running again. I spin now with a heart rate monitor. I don't let my heart rate go above 150. Have you considered that vs checking bp?
Avatar f tn I recently received a message from someone in this forum which included a listing of herbs and instructions to try. I haven't yet, so I can't vouch for it, but if you wish I can send it to you.) Yoga has been shown to help with the internal organs, although I can't cite any specific studies when it comes to gastroparesis. However, it may be worth a try. There are poses which can help with strengthening the stomach, so you may want to google those.
324184 tn?1308079803 That same week I suffered a SAH (sub arachnoid hemmoraghe) a form of a deadly stroke. Thankfully I survived with some residual effects such as continued painful migraines. My neuro just today prescribed 25 m.g of Topamax and I will begin taking it soon. I just want my quality of life to improve and not have all these strange sensations in my head that are most likely the result of the stroke. I do get the dry mouth but the Verapamil helps me to feel sleepy as soon as I take it at night.
1162347 tn?1293506770 Aromatase inhibitors tend to cause fewer serious side effects than Tamoxifen, such as blood clots, stroke, and Endometrial cancer. But Aromatase inhibitors can cause more heart problems, more bone loss (osteoporosis), and more broken bones than Tamoxifen, at least for the first few years of treatment.
Avatar f tn If anyone happens to have had a similar problem, and knows of a resolution (or treatment/prevention), I would dearly love to know about it. I'm kind of left to diagnose my own problem, since doctors can't easily figure out what it is; my test have come back negative so far; and maybe because I seem perfectly healthy to them when I see them, when I'm not having symptoms, they don't take it seriously. If the heart monitor results come back inconclusive, I'm not sure where I'll turn next.
Avatar n tn To make this short I found over time that sucking the thumb, holding our hands in an upright position especially near the lips (note the similarity to the positions in Yoga, Tai Chi, Qi Gong, Falen Gong etc.
Avatar n tn It’s only “good” if you are trying to put children and healthy people (the new target market for statin idiocy) on these drugs. Needless to say, the scholars at these prestigious think tanks could not figure out why statins cause diabetes. They still haven’t quite figured out the basics of how the human body works and what statins are doing to it. Let me give them a few clues. Statins are anti-energy by core means of operation.
Avatar n tn No pain or other medications except Lyrica (comes under different brand name here) along with Coumardin type of anti-coagulant for her stroke prevention. She has been periodically monitored for INR values for anti-coagulant associated therapy and risks. When the dosage of Lyrica initially from 75mg was raised to 150 mg per day her INR value dropped down to 1.3 which poses a stroke risk. So the doctor cut down 75mg out of 150mg and now she is taking only 75mg which proves ineffective.

Avatar n tn HCG therapy has been found to be very effective in the prevention of testicular atrophy and to use the body’s own biochemical stimulating mechanisms to increase plasma testosterone level during training. Some steroid users find that they have some of their best strength and size gains while using HCG in conjunction with the steroids. This may wee be due to the facts that the body has high level of natural androgens as well as the artificial steroid hormones at that time.
Avatar n tn Cardiologist thinks the heart is normal. I will go for stres-echo test in couple of weeks. GP thinks I don't have any stroke signs. MRI shows no signs of MS. Everything is normal except a 4mm pineal cyst in my brain. GP thinks the cyst is inconsequential and found incidentally and is not that rare. And all the reviews I have seen on the web suggest that pineal cysts are benign. MRI report says the cyst is harmless at this time. I will see a neurologist tomorrow.
Avatar n tn I have never gotten frustrated or upset until last night and it was such a blow (no pun intended) that I was trying so hard and he couldn't respond to me. It feels like he is rejecting me. I am an attractive woman, in my 20's, teach yoga, very fit and I'm adventurous and passionate in bed. I do NOT understand how I'm doing it for him. I don't understand how he could get bored of me because I'm NOT BORING. I know I am giving him the greatest, most passionate sex he will ever get.
Avatar n tn power walking, push ups, yoga stretches, an occasional run. Also, like some others here, I have Raynaud's syndrome (genetic: mother and brother). Yesterday while I was doing nothing strenuous, I felt the familiar tingle, then itching in my right middle finger, then it started to swell and by the end of the day it was like a purple sausage. Hard to bend my finger. Looks pretty hideous right now.
Avatar n tn It came out of the blue, and not knowing anything about what a panic attack was, I assumed I was dying of a stroke or a ruptured blood vessel -- I grabbed the panst leg os my friend who was sitting watching TV in my house and I said, "please help me -- then I said goodbye -- then I bolted up and down the stairs three times and returned to my friend who commented that my face was white as a sheet and that I looked like a corpse.
Avatar n tn all you would be able to do is **** long that it, but not 6 pack abs or awesome shaped body. the best method and never-failing method of stopping masturbation is doing YOGA.
Avatar n tn My husband developed migraine headaches after a sever stroke about 5 years ago. He went thru all the depakote, etc. for depression, and then in early 2005 had another stroke. He was then started on Topamax. He has lost 40 lbs, and he cannot afford to lose any more. But, I am seriously contemplating asking my MD to prescribe Topamax for me for weight loss.
Avatar n tn I was certainly sceptical of her story initially and if it wasn't for her supply of further external links to other people I may well have disregarded her miraclous recovery and put it down to an isolated stroke of coincidental luck. When I read other peoples stories and how they recovered the same way, I was dumbfounded and it was then that it dawned on me that this IS what was happening to me.
Avatar n tn If you have low days or just don't feel right -get out and take a walk, go to the mall, exercise, eat an orange and take your dog for a walk. Join a yoga group, do a pilates class with a friend. Don't sit at home and stew over how you feel - get your body/mind moving again.
211940 tn?1267884866 I have the exact same pain in my right arm. I never had any problem until I was recovering from a stroke and emergency surgery. While in the hospital for two weeks afterward, I noticed a dull aching in my right arm, midway between the elbow and shoulder. The discomfort gradually worsened over the next month until I couldnt use my arm at all. An orthopedic surgeon told me I had torn my rotator cuff and needed surgery but, when he got in there, he found nothing.
Avatar f tn Ten years before, I could have handled the same stress without a hitch. I think prevention is worth a pound of cure in latent cases like mine. One of my best friend from grade school grew up with mental illness in her immediate family and goes to great lengths to take care of her own health so that she doesn't have a mental breakdown--so far it's worked for her. But if you are like my cousin and have major episodes early on from out of nowhere, then there isn't really a way to prevent that.
