Avatar m tn t be a cause for a decline in mental facility. The low heart rate is somewhat unusual unless you are in very good physical condition. It is possible and the worst case scenario is that you may have experienced TIA's (transient and tiny blood clot to the brain) or a minor stroke.
Avatar m tn While serving in the Navy in San Diego, my third son was born and was noted to have moderate to severe hypospadias and chordee within minutes of birth. There were no other abnormalities noted at that time. I was working as a surgical technologist with a specialty in ENT. After a few weeks, Mom and I met with the attending Urologist and explained that I would be leaving the Navy within weeks. He advised us to not have our son circumcised and educated us on his condition.
Avatar n tn I had a lot of close male friends in high school. In fact, my very best friend was a male. No problems on either end.
Avatar f tn m very confused as to whether under correcting is what should have occured and what should continue to occur or not. I want to do what we can to help him in school and protect his longterm eye health. I can't find very much information regarding under correction.

Avatar f tn A child/adolescent psychiatrist would be in a good position to clarify the diagnosis, as would any seasoned specialist in child/adolescent mental health. Neuropsychological testing would certainly be useful in clarifying the cognitive and psychological components of your son's functioning.
Avatar n tn s something that can wait then look for jobs and book mark the ones you like and apply after baby comes your so close to the end of pregnancy a little added stress May not be the best but in the end it's whatever you are comfortable doing
Avatar f tn No, this does not sound like depression - perhaps borderline personality disorder? The above poster is correct - an evaluation by a psychiatrist would be of benefit.

1315061 tn?1288058482 If he is an adolescent, I'm wondering why you can not turn the computer off. He does not need one in his room and if it is out of his room, you have control. The internet can be quite addicting and you must take that seriously. People avoid "real" relationships for those created on the internet. It is a way of avoiding the world.

Avatar f tn My boyfriend is separated and going through a divorce, and he and I just bought a house together and moved in on Saturday. His son is 17 years old and has a slight learning disability. He told his son three weeks ago that we were moving in together, and last week, his son had what was diagnosed as a panic attack at school. They gave him a prescription for xanax but he seemed to still be very anxious. Saturday was our move in day.
Avatar f tn You might begin by talking to him about what "public" and "private" mean, not about fetishes but just about the two terms in general. Then once he has shown he understands those words, tell him that doing things with feet the way he asks to, would be considered "private" behavior.
Avatar f tn My son aged 15 1/2 has started behaving hyperactive for 2-3 weeks followed by depressed for 2-3 weeks. When he is up he talks incessantly is often up in the night, can't sit still or keep quiet in school. He is uninhibited, often irrational, and sometimes does not know what he is doing or why. When he is down he sleeps a lot doesn't feel like doing anything and picks his fingernails. He stops talking except to me (his mother) and is afraid to go to school.
389909 tn?1225996852 Hello, I'm sorry your daughter has been having such a difficult time. It sounds like your daughter has had a thorough work up. One thing I have to mention is that despite your belief that she is not sexually active I'd make sure a pregnancy test (urine or blood) has been performed. One thing you haven't mentioned is adolescent endometriosis (a condition that occurs when tissue similar to the inner lining of the uterus is found in the pelvis).
Avatar n tn The best way to answer that question is for you to seek a consultation with a good therapist who can evaluate the adolescent and make that decision with him or her and you...there are several different approaches but they depend on the type and extent and source of the social anxiety.
Avatar m tn I agree . It runs in families. You may want to also read about adolescent thyroid disorders and really understand the information out there. In many cases - children - because of a variety of changes in their bodies can look like a thyroid disorder is present but can balance out on and off as they grow. Medicating a child on one test given can stall thyroid function normally and it could result in permanent issues - if they are not tracked differently.
Avatar m tn Could it be a stroke? Those are the symptoms as far as I am aware? You should see the doctor to be safe.
Avatar f tn My daughter had a stroke in her thalamus at age 17 and is still having headaches 2 years later... every day... any ideas for treatment or diagnosis??? Her doctor says that it is migraines and the two are not related. It seems like too much of a coincidence to me. Can a stroke cause persistent headaches and what is the treatment????

Avatar f tn Strokes can cause many clinical findings including weakness, numbness, changes in cognition, etc, depending on the location of the stroke. An MRI of the brain is a very useful modality to identify strokes. If indeed there was a structural lesion (i.e., stroke), it should be seen on the MRI. However, MRIs are only so specific and sensitive for detecting strokes. I agree your son should continue following up with the neurologist. Neuroimaging would be useful.
Avatar n tn Reason of stroke was blood clotting in brain. He is able to hear and understand everything; he remembers everything but can’t write anything, he is able to read a little as well. I just wanted to know if this pain is normal or is there anything I should be worried about.
