350555 tn?1196587877 Well, I feel like I have symptoms of a stroke. Today my left side of my face and my left hand and fingers feel like they are tingling. More like pins and needles. I feel this on the left side of my body. Pins and needle feeling down my left arm, and my face on the left side and cheek is really tingling. I go see the Dr. this next week. I have had symptoms like this before and it comes and goes. I do have an anxiety disorder, but I don't consciously feel as though I'm having anxiety....
Avatar m tn My father had in june an ischemic stroke in the area of the middle cerebral artery. 10 days after it a persistent hiccup started. He did a chest ct scan and a gastroscopy and there is nothing relevant on them. This hiccup often starts after meals, with an eructation, and sometimes he stops 1 or 2 hours after he falls asleep. Normally it lasts from 2 to 4/8 days. What can we do? Could it be a consequence of the stroke even if it didn't involve the brainstem and cerebellum part of the brain?

Avatar m tn Yes they do show brain damage and a disruption in circulation of blood in the brain and it is indeed very helpful information but a stroke is something very specific. But I of course do not have clinical knowledge so you could post the question in the ask a doctor forum if you want a conclusive answer though.
Avatar f tn t eat, being that she was a diabetic, eventually causing her to go into a coma and die or does the stroke itself do something like hinder her from breathing . Was there something that made her stop breathing because of the stroke itself? She was getting something through an IV but I'm sure there wasn't much nourishment there. I guess I'm hoping that she didn't starve to death although she passed a week after she had the stroke.
Avatar m tn My aunt aged 70 is hospitalised due to brain stem stroke and is in ICU. She is yet to regain the consciousness and is still on ventilator. Doctors have stated that there is very little improvement. As of now she lost her limb movements, swallowing capacity and eyelid movements. Though she is chronic diabetic and had bye pass surgery six years back her major organs are functioning normally. It is not clear how long she will be like this. At what point of time recovery process will set in?
Avatar n tn her Neurologist stated that this appeared to be a chemical induced sleep, not caused from a stroke. Was this a proper drug and dosage for a 77 year old female that weighed 102 lbs.?? She was improving from the stroke before she went into this comatose state. She never awakened from it, She passed away a week later from other Breathing complications , not from another stroke.

Avatar n tn I do not have high blood pressure, diabetes or high cholesterol, no strokes or TIAs, and CADASIL (unlikely, no relatives with it). What else causes these brain lesions. Neurologist says I have too many lesions to be age related. They are multiple small foci of bright FLAIR signal in the subcortical white matter of both hemispheres in a relatively symmetric distribution. Thank you.
Avatar m tn It is not recommended in either cardio embolic stroke or hemorrhagic stroke. Anticoagulation is the treatment in the first and control of blood pressure in the second case. Take care.
Avatar f tn I had to use my other hand to bend it back up, and it went back down twice. I thought I might of been having a stroke. If this is not a symptom of stroke, can you please tell what this is; I was so scared I didn't know if I should go to the hospital or not.

Avatar f tn Facial twitches are caused by stress and anxiety, muscle fatigue, side effects of medicines, high intake of caffeine, Parkinson’s disease in elderly, magnesium deficiency etc. Hemi facial spasm may be seen in tumors, multiple sclerosis, stroke etc. treatment may include balanced diet with mineral supplements like potassium, calcium, magnesium, massages for fatigue, B complex supplementation like avocadoes, bananas, legumes etc. drugs like gabapentin, phenytoin are used for hemifacial spasm.

Avatar n tn These remedies aside, you have considerable increased risk for stroke given your hypercoaguable autoimmune disease, and the waxing and waning symptoms may be reflective of changes in blood vessel caliber with-in your brain (AKA vasospasm) which can potentially result in stroke. Because of all of the factors mentioned above, I urge you to make an appointment with a neurologist, in a particular a cerebrovascular/stroke doctor.
