Stress test treadmill thallium

Common Questions and Answers about Stress test treadmill thallium

Avatar m tn Pointman, I had a thallium stress test last week and there was no blood testing that preceded the test to determine if I was able to take it. If we're talking about the same test, they put an IV in you, inject you with thallium, put you under a gamma camera so they can take pictures of your heart at rest. Then you go to the treadmill where they get you up to a defined heart rate, inject you with more thallium, and it's back under the camera.
Avatar f tn The doctor said the ekg and echo looked good, but that the stress test was positive and I need a thallium stress test now. My cholestrol and triglycerides are great. During the stress test, I had a minor chest pain, and am wondering if that is why he wants a thallium stress test now. I really don't want to be exposed to radiation. Can the incline training bring on a heart problem?

976897 tn?1379167602 My last Thallium stress test was chemically induced due to a ruptured MCL. I can tell you I had the same sensations, sudden SOB, rapid heart rate and a tight chest. It started the instance they started the drip and it stopped within a second or two of stopping the drip. It was one of the most uncomfortable experiences of my life. The results were totally normal and exactly the same as the previous year, I had expected bad news as well. Go figure........
Avatar n tn I was admitted and given a Thallium stress test with normal results. I did a follow up this week and found that I had an abnormal Treadmill test with inverted T waves in the recovery stages of the test. What could be the cause and could just being out of shape be the cause. I am a recent ex smoker and am just now getting back in the excercise game......
Avatar f tn I had a stress thallium done and got the report today. It shows 2mm ST depression inferolateral leads-abnormal. Myocardial profusion scan normal, no wall motion abnormalities. I am a 37 yr old female, overweight with a strong family history of early heart disease. It was a chemical stress thallium and they wouldn't let me walk on the treadmill instead.
Avatar m tn Hi, I can give you some insight into the thallium stress test from my own experience, and from what I have been told by various Cardiologists here in the UK. In 2007 I had a heart attack followed by emergency stenting. When they were inside my coronary arteries looking around, they were shocked at the state of them and the Cardiologist actually said "I'm shocked that you have survived so long". He found the blockage causing the heart attack and stented it.
Avatar n tn I also had a stress test this week. and like you, I had a Thallium test as there is a national shortage of myoview. Any strong headache should be reported to your doctor, and at the same time, several aspirin tablets should be ingested. That being said, I'm betting you were told not to have any beta blockers, in my case no slow-release nitro pills, and certainly no caffeine. Withdrawing from these products all could result in a headache.
Avatar f tn I had a thallium stress test a week ago. Now I'm setting off radioactive alarms at the facility where I work which is a heavily secure building. How long will the thallium remain in my body?
Avatar n tn My mother had a thallium stress test about 11 months ago. During the test she felt a "burning" sensation in her face and said she felt like her face was on fire. She developed a face and neck rash a few days after this test and her skin her never been the same. Her face still looks burned after almost a year. What happened and what can she do about this. Right now she is just wearing really heavy makeup to cover it up.
Avatar n tn The only risk is an allergic reaction to the radioactive isotope but this is very rare indeed. The drug is administered very slowly as you exercise and so any reaction will be quickly noted and treated rapidly. The hardest part of the procedure is laying still for 20 minutes on the scanner table. You will be surprised, everything starts to itch.
Avatar n tn Recently he had an EKG and Thallium stress test for preventative reasons. The EKG while on the treadmill showed blockages. The pictures from the thallium scan showed nothing. He is scheduled for an angiogram and we wonder if this is truly necessary. The only other anomaly he has is that his heart rate is consistently low, getting into the low 50's at rest. He takes no medicine of any kind and does not drink.
Avatar f tn I had this test done - Persantine thallium stress test. The injection via IV, Persantine went in for 1.5 minutes only then the doctor want to terminate the test. It took 2 days to complete the test. I was given a strong coffee to drink after the first day. Advise go home and drank the strong coffee as much as I can. Return the next day.
512736 tn?1211343352 d CAD is greatly increased by performing a nuclear perfusion study in conjunction with the stress test. A radioactive substance called thallium (or a similar substance called sestamibi or Cardiolite) is injected into a vein during exercise. The thallium collects in the parts of the heart that have good blood flow. Pictures of the heart are taken with a special camera that can image the radioactivity of the thallium.
976897 tn?1379167602 Thanks so much for the reply, ed. Sorry for the interruption on your thread. I know you three are among the most knowledgable on here. I'm feeling pretty desperate because I'm set up for an ablation with one of the best Dr's in the world. My regular EP, who is now in practice with this renowned Dr. has been pushing ablation for the last few yrs. So, what's the problem? Everything in me says this isn't the answer to "my" problem.
159619 tn?1707018272 s time for my annual physical here in a few weeks and was wondering if it is necessary to request a stress test or echo again. My last echo was last September and was normal as were my echos in 2005 & 2006 and I had Thallium stress tests in 2006 & 2005, both were normal. I am a 50 year old male, about 50 or so pounds over weight but have lost 70 since Jan 2007 by life style changes and daily exercise.
212161 tn?1599427282 Has anyone had the stress test with the new shot they use, last time I had it, the shot made my heart race, they had to give me another shot to bring it back to normal, they told me yesterday they no longer use the shot that makes your heart race, Would like to hear from anyone who's had the new shot and what you felt, thank you
Avatar m tn I just had the Stress Echo Test and my doctor states I passed the test, however, he saw something with the EKG and recommended a Thallium Stress Test. I run 6 days a week and lift light weights daily. Sometimes, I run twice a day, once in the morning and a 15 minute hill burner on the treamill in the evening. I have always run since the age of 18 years. Nver shortness of breath, I am now 57 years old and 166 llbs.
Avatar m tn I did the calcium score test last year and it was 0 which I know there is some disagreement in the medical community about the accuracy of this test . My question is should I repeat another treadmill stress test to rule out any possible blockages and how long is a heart cath good for ? I am afraid being mark a hypochondriac by my gp and cardiologist but I know my body and they are not in it .........I am . thanks.
471949 tn?1236904026 I'm having a stress test tomorrow (12th); treadmill-type at the VA hospital. Last year I had a chemical stress test there. Problem is there was no doc in the room or even nearby at all! In the past when I've had stress tests done at civilian hospitals there was always a cardio-doc in the room--just in case. Two years ago I had a treadmill test and collapsed halfway through the test. I told the VA cardio doc this...
Avatar m tn He was hospitalized for a week and he was under cardiac surviellance for a week under which he went through ECG, Echocardiogram, Angiogram, and Stress Thallium Test (after 15 days of discharge from Hospital). His stress thallium states as follows: Patient is a case of CAD, hypertension, and type 2 diabetes mellitus with ischaemic cardiomyopathy. Recent CAG shows 70% mid and distal LAD stenosis, 50%om2, and 60-70% RCA lesion. Stress MPI scan is being done to evaluate for reversible ischaemia.
139068 tn?1288541718 troponin was fine then echo test and holter test came normal..... but the cardiologist suggested for one more test... thallium mibi stress scan..... i was not able to pass the stress test ... they injected adenosine and i got fast heart rate and pani attack they had to stop the test.... then the doctor said we will use treadmill for stress ( it will be done after some days) i was ashamed that i couldn't pass the stress test i was embarrassed..............

116881 tn?1189755823 A nuclear stress test is another name for a nuclear perfusion scan. Same test. Im trying to make sure Im not allergic to the injection.
1016145 tn?1253498064 There are many names for this same thing. Nuclear perfusion test, nuclear stress test, thallium stress test, thallium scan etc etc. Maybe they should standardise on the name to make it less confusing.
