Avatar n tn I had an echo stress test where the treadmill speed and incline followed standard Bruce protocol, but each stage lasted only 2 minutes instead of 3. The person who administered the test seemed very knowledgeable, so I assume the shortened stages were intentional. Are the results as valid as they would have been with standard 3 minute stages? I completed stage 4 and was told everything looked good.
Avatar n tn I don't know. There were no displays on the treadmill when I did my stress test. They mostly judged my "success" on my heart rate and blood pressure readings compared to how long I lasted. I never had to run; it was just a walking speed with some incline increases. I did about 10 minutes I guess and then had to lie down for the recovery part. I think I did just fine.
Avatar n tn My nuclear stress test results were as follows ver batim. I do not know what it means, are the results acceptable, good very good etc. What does this say about the blood flow to the heart muscle ? "injection of Myoview nuclear tracer & resting images obtained excercised on a treadmill for 5 min 34 sec. to 10.
Avatar n tn baseline ECG is normal. On Bruce protocol she could walk for upto 2 min on treadmill. There were no ECG changes during test, but during recovery phase she developed ST depression with T inversion in II, III, AVF , I, aVL and V2 to V6 for 10 min. She was not having chest pain at that time. She is undergoing Cor angio shortly. What is the probability that she can have Triple vessel disease?
Avatar f tn on a bruce protocol treadmill test standard ( no dyes ) do you get results for Ejection fraction ?
Avatar n tn I can produce a numbert of different opinions what is the appropriate heart rate and so on with exercising. The best method for someone with a heart issue is to have a stress test. A stress test is oftened done for the purpose of learning the degree of tolerance/risk one can safely do. The rule of thumb stated is not recommended for someone who has heart issues. You will be safe to engage in exercising according to METs.
1285040 tn?1438934858 Clinically positive and electrically negative Bruce protocol exercise treadmill test. Fair exercise tolerance. Test stopped due to dyspnea. Chest pressure at peak exercise. Occasional PVCs. No ischemia. A nuclear stress (only) test showed decreased perfusion in the anterior and inferolateral walls. ECG gated LV wall motion study revealed normal wall motion, normal wall thickening, normal systolic function, with a calculated ejection fraction of 58%.
Avatar m tn Hi! I've just done an ergomertry test (Treadmill stress test). I'm 18 and I use Tyrez (bisoprolol) My results are: The patient exercised according to the BRUCE for 6:13 minutes, achieving a work level of max. METS: 7.60. The resting heart rate of 114 bpm rose to a maximal heart rate of 184 bpm. This value represents 91% of the maximal, age predicted heart rate. The resting blood pressure of 127/72 mmHg, rose to a maximum blood pressure of 143/76 mmHg.
Avatar f tn Hello, I am now being reffered to a cardiologist , and I am in hope I may get the test , treadmill stress test , as I get extremely breathless walking upstairs & hills , my question is , I have heard the rate + slope goes up at 3 minute periods of time , but how many times does it go up ?
Avatar f tn Most treadmill stress tests use a standard method referred to as the "Bruce Protocol". The test is a combination of speed and incline. The treadmill used has this program built into it, so your test would be just like my test. The idea is to walk as long as you can. Your test will start very slowly, but will increase in speed and incline at regular intervals, The test itself is designed so most people eventually "fail".
Avatar f tn What does it mean when, during a exercise stress test (treadmill), they tell you to stop early? Is it most likely a good thing or a bad one? Details: Given a stress test for heart rate irregularities. Resting rate was around 80, and bp around 110/70. Between 3-6 min on the treadmill my bp was 170/80 and heartrate was over 140. At 7-8 minutes they told me I could stop because "they had all the information they needed." They said I would have the results in a couple of days.
11849443 tn?1441302841 I had my Stress Echo done prior to my electrophysiology. This was done after a normal treadmill stress test. The stress echo wasn't done as part of the pre-admission testing, but was done as part of the path towards the electrophysiology procedure. My cardiologist, whom I'm very friendly with told me it was done to rule out any structural abnormalities, and that he wanted to see my heart working under physical strain and compare it to when it was at rest.
Avatar n tn A treadmill with stress test will measure METs, and some high-end treadmills in a gym. The stress test I had measured METs using the Bruce protocol 4 years ago. The test was discontinued after 4 minutes and 20 seconds equivalent to 7.2 METs. The treadmill I use at the gym indicates I can do 7 METs without a problem (4 mph, fast pace).
Avatar m tn Maybe I should have not asked for the Stress Test and listened to my Doctor. He suggested we either redo the test or refer to a Cardiologist at teaching hospital As soon as I eft the office I went for a a nice 40 minute run no chest pain or shortnes of breath was noted. Should I increase my dosage of baby aspirin? do you think they will recommend another cardiolite test or angiogram? I think I might have to wait a while for the appoinment. What's your impression or guess?
486822 tn?1208800499 Could you help me understand my stress test findings? I am scheduled for a heart catherization due to these findings. I'm am a 45 year old female with obesity and Graves Disease. Exercised for 6 minutes and 30 seconds of a Bruce Protocol. Heart rate increased to 151 which was 86% of her perdicted maximal heart rate. Blood pressure was 124/92 at baseline and peaked at 160/78. Had slight chest discomfort during exercise which resolved with rest.
Avatar n tn I requested the test because of family history. I did the standard ecg treadmill test without the radiation scan a few years before, and it was okay. Maybe they stopped because the test was for 8 mimutes. I felt I was close to my limit given my breathing was heavier. The other test has identified an issue, and I am seeing the cardiologist soon. I prefer to see these reports in a language I can understand.
Avatar f tn A stress test will normally be a treadmill. You will progressively walk faster and at a higher grade for about 15 minutes. You will be monitored by a doctor most likely while attached to electrodes. After the treadmill you will be placed in a diagnostic machine that will look at your heart. Then a second exam of your heart with dye will examine the difference in the way your heart looked after the treadmill and after the dye was introduced.
Avatar f tn When using EKG and blood pressure monitoring alone the test is variously called a cardiac stress test, exercise stress test, exercise treadmill test, exercise tolerance test, stress test or exercise ECG test. Heart rate, breathing, blood pressure, EKG, and how tired you feel are monitored during the test.
Avatar f tn I am getting a nuclear stress test done on Monday. I wish that they could have done more testing at the time however the cardiologist seemed frustrated and angry, maybe not with me. I am really unsure why, actually. I'm very concerned and it will be good to get to that bottom of it. I have increased my fluid intake. Thanks for your response.
Avatar n tn Had a nuclear treadmill stress test done while taking the test the whole time the nurse held me up from behind 2 hands on back because i stated i had back problems and as soon as test started she began this procere is this comman practice?
Avatar m tn An option is to get a stress test. They will hook you up to a 12 lead EKG and go through the Bruce protocol on a treadmill. This may be a better option because the EKG will be much better than a 3 lead holter. The 12 lead will have better resolution. If it were me and I thought the HRM was completely accurate I would go for the stress test if I thought I could readily replicate the issue. If it's not easy to replicate I'd go for a 14 day event (ex., a CardioNet) monitor.
Avatar n tn An Echo Stress Test or a Nuclear Stress Test, if the doctor is suspecting coronary artery disease. However, a regular stress may be sufficient in stable patients or those with a low suspicion of coronary artery disease who are being assessed for exercise tolerance (for example, prior to undergoing a structured exercise or rehab program). If you are/were experiencing chest pains an EKG Stress test is not reliable and probably should have had a Nuclear Stress Test.
Avatar m tn s. When I had my stress test they cranked it up, got me going on inclines, then just stopped the treadmill cold, had me lie down for post test monitoring. Well, shoot, my heart rebelled and hiccuped all over the place. But when I'm at the gym on the treadmill, I know to slow down gradually and that takes care of any PVC problems. It works and I'm not concerned.
Avatar f tn Usually a stress test involves a treadmill starting at a leisurely walk, and increases in intensity and elevation quickly. Google Bruce Protocol for what is done with an exercise stress test. That, perhaps, is a big difference between you exercise regimen of 1.5 miles unless you walk up hills that increase in altitude quickly. It's possible that your left ventricle is enlarged, and that is why the doctor prescribed troprol.
Avatar f tn It would come to approximately 8.2-8.3 METS. For a female, aged 41 years old this puts you at about the 29th percentile. Your VO2 max (which is mL blood per kg of body weight your body can utilize per minute) is about 29mL/kg/min. The median percentile for your age and gender would have been about 32mL/kg/min, which correlates with a METS of about 9.1-9.2, and lasting about 8:10-8:15 on the Bruce test. Overall, your fitness is pretty close to average.
