Common Questions and Answers about Stress test readings

Avatar n tn I've just had a SPECT stress test. The cardiologist report stated that I have apical ischemia. The size is small, the severity is mild and the reversibility is partical. I'm a 51 year old female ~ on the tread mill for 8+ miniutes, at 172 HR (100%). I'll be speaking to my cardiologist. How serious is this? It doesn't sound so bad?? The only other peice is that I've got a heavy feeling on my chest - not always and not painful.
Avatar n tn What can cause an artificial or a false low ejection rate on a nuclear stress test 33%?
213398 tn?1202670474 Hi Dr.. I'm a 35 almost 36 year old white male. 5'6 162 pounds. slightly overweight. No drinking , no alcohol. But smoke heavily. Pack a day for 15 years cholesterol 179 (6 months ago 231) triglycerides 177 (6 months ago 216) hdl 91 (6 months ago 38) ldl 53 (6 months ago 150) . HS-CR Protein test from 1 month ago 4.0 (my Doc did not seem at all concerned with that finding) .
Avatar n tn Just had a stress test here are the findings, but I"m not sure what they mean, can anyone help? Baseline ecg revealed inferolateral ST sagging - there is one further mm of ST depression at peak exertion being 7.7 METS. This test was positive for inducible ischemia, however, baseline ECG abnormality makes predictive value of this test less. They are now sending me for nuclear perfusion test in a couple of weeks.
Avatar n tn I took a adesine stress test and my bp was app 121/74 and it never rose after injection it basically remained the same or within 10%. does that mean blocked artries?
503607 tn?1275671579 I had my stress test today and true to form I had an anxiety attack as soon as I walked into my cardiologists office, My heart rate was at 136 without doing anything, I got it down to 117 and they started test, I did the 9 minutes without a problem got my heartrate up to 175. My blood pressure went to 208/100 too high, my cardio is going to put me on bp meds, I am so upset with myself that I allow these heart issue to upset me like this.
Avatar f tn The myocardial perfusion study is abnormal, there is nonuniform perfusion in the mid to apex-anterior and anterolateral segments which partially improve in the stress image. The left ventricular systolic function post stress is normal, with LVEF of 60%. I am a 69 yr.old female/weight 63kg/height 163cms. My doctor has referred me to a cardiologist however, I'm not sure when this appointment will be. Does the above result require an urgent appointment or can it wait for a few weeks.?
Avatar f tn I was very nervous and do deal with anxiety, my blood pressure was 154/95. In short I had a 24 hour monitor on, a treadmill stress test, a couple EKGs and an echocardiogram done. Everything came back fine with exception of stress test which apparently showed I have HBP. I lasted for 10 minutes and was able to reach the required heart rate of 160. The cardiologist gave me blood pressure meds but I opted not to take. Afraid of side effects and at my age I'd hope I wouldn't need them.
Avatar m tn Is it because it would effect the test readings, or is it just because they are worried about you vomiting or being too bloated to exercise? I was also wondering, will they make me exercise until my HR reaches 220 minus my age? Is that the idea? Finally, the last part of my question. I am obese. I'm 5'10" 300 lbs (male). Although I do exercise regularly, I only do a heart rate of 140 or so. Plus, I have chronic fatigue.
Avatar n tn My question is what is the new echo test or holter readings going to do that the stress test or a download from my defib wouldn't tell. I'm not complaining - he is beng proactive in trying to determine what is going on - I am just trying to understand his logic.
Avatar f tn category as stress can throw off many readings. The more likely cause is the stress resulted in labored breathing, increased BP, and abnormal EKG's. See if you can get a few Valium from your doctor for the next episode to see if that resolves the problem. If so, then you can attack it from that angle. Best of luck.
Avatar f tn blood sugar reading for me when I test at different times of the day....before meals, after meals, fasting in the morning, at bedtime and other random times during the day.
301640 tn?1302652334 If not, that could change your test readings. Also, the fact that you are losing weight will possibly make it necessary to change your dose. You probably need a lower dose. For the constipation, are you drinking lots of water? I take a magnesium supplement which helps prevent constipation, as I need to take a lot of calcium. I hope you are feeling better soon. .
Avatar n tn But my fasting blood sugar was 8.1 which is quite high. Before this test i used BP tablest for 4 days until the test is done. Later from the next day i was tested for Random blood sugar several times for 2 days always the readings are normal the highest shown is 5.2. My doctor not even commented on this. Based on fasting blood sugar am i diabetic already? Please advice.
Avatar n tn m afraid of is that my own anxiety will mess up the test results, thus giving readings that are not the truth, but which still cause me and sometimes even the doctors to freak out. So it's a little twist on just being afraid of the truth per se. It's also a self-feeding vicious cycle. This happens often with my blood pressure readings in the doctor's office.
Avatar n tn I had been getting reading lately at about 130/96. That being said, I have also been under enormous stress lately (new job, finances, child with illness ect) I am not the type of person who takes stress on, but it's been hard to ignore lately. I've been checking my blood pressure at home and usually get readings of 120/85. So I'm just not sure if I want to begin taking the pills if this is something that will pass as I find ways to handle the stress better.
Avatar f tn Is it possible to have normal T3, T4, TSH readings and still have thyroid disease? Can Paxil mask the problem? While I was on Paxil I did not have heart palpitations, racing heart, heat/cold sensitivity, weight loss, anxiety attacks, dizziness and nausea. Once I taper off (twice), the symptoms reappear. What gives? Thank you!
Avatar f tn Does this sound like a heart problem???? I have had a nuclear stress test, a cardiac catherization, carotid dopplar and echocardiogram. Doctors tell me my heart is okay. Anyone know what could cause my normal blood pressure to shoot way up whenever I move around?
Avatar m tn is healthy is to see a cardiologist and also have a cardiac stress test to evaluate the amount of workload that the heart can take before it develops a problem with rhythm or blood flow.
Avatar f tn My heart rate varies from a steady 120 to 140 up to 180 in a second and also quickly drops to 34 and then the monitor will not register for a few minutes until it goes back up to normal. Approximately 5 years ago I wore a monitor and took a stress test but just a minor drop in heart rate showed up. I don't think the stress test is at the intensity that I exercise. The variable heart rate happens on various equipment. It does not happen every time I exercise.
Avatar n tn Very informative opinion you have posted here. I had a cardiac attack in October2007. During hospitalization my echo recorded EF as 26%. I am on extensive medication to combat my heart condition(left ventricle dysfunction- poor function). Is there any chance, by this time my EF has improved considerably. Can I live without much fear .
Avatar f tn My AM test readings ( bf eating ) recently have been in the range of 70-80 which if correct would lead me to think this is an improvement. IF that is so, why would the burning start --- something I have had vy little of until now. I do have Osteoporosis and High Bl Pressure butI have also seen an improvement in the latter. . Now running abt 120/65, again without my meds.
