Avatar n tn Yesterday I had a nuclear stress test and within a couple hours I felt a hot itchy spot about 6 inches long and 3 inches wide from my shoulder down. The place where the Adenesine was injected did not get red. About 4 hours later I called my drs service and one of them returned my call and we discussed whether I needed to go to the ER. I chose to take a couple benedryl instead. Today the red long blotch is still there. I went to my cardio dr.
Avatar n tn I had a nuclear stress test. Before the stress part of the test my blood pressure was 213. The Dr said to go ahead with the test. During the test, I got cold and white, was unable to function well, semi unconsciousness, tremors particularly on the right arm, speech slurred, headache in the temple and forehead, fatigue. After many attempts to clear me from these side effects, they gave me a the antidote to the medication that they used. Did I have a heart attack?
Avatar m tn Received an email from cardiologist stating that the stress test last week showed mild changes in ekg during exercise. He said that results could be normal for me but wants me to have a nuclear test? Of course I am worried and have questions for him. I walk/jog three miles a day and have no pains or problems. I am on BP meds and my blood pressure is good until I get stressed and anxious. Did anyone have minor changes in ekg while doing stress test.
Avatar n tn Went to family physician who was concerned and suggested nuclear stress test or CAT angiogram and gave me a choice. He ruled out blood work to look for enzymes. He told me the CAT would require prior insurance approval and recommended nuclear stress test. Like the EKG's I am sure that nothing will show up on the stress test. Should I save the insurance co pays etc and go straight to CAT angiogram? This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.medhelp.
Avatar m tn from there they sent me to get a nuclear stress test and that showed everything was fine, so my question is why did 2 out of 3 test were positive, should i believe that everything is fine...I am a 56 yr old woman...
Avatar n tn Should a nuclear stress test be performed by a cardiologist? My father, who is 82, is scheduled to have basal thumb arthritis surgery on the 15th of Feb. His doctor of internal medicine wants to do a nuclear stress test to make sure his heart is strong enough to be subjected to general anesthesia. He has leaky valves. We are concerned that this may be a procedure that should be done by a specialist.
Avatar f tn is once too often.Proceed with nuclear stress test and do not dismiss your symptoms.Women can present very differently then men when it comes to chest pain. Get it checked out to find out what's going on. Joan.
Avatar m tn I have no symptoms of heart problems, but I have a family history of heart disease. Is a nuclear stress test advisable or is there another test that would be more appropriate given the fact that I'm asymptomatic. I understand that the radiation exposure in a nuclear stress test is 250 times that of a chest xray. I'm concerned about the risk of exposure to that level of radiation given the fact that I have no signs of heart problems at this point.
705366 tn?1253634943 I need to go on tuesday for a nuclear stress test of my heart. I cannot take my beta blockers starting today. I need to be off all meds for 72 hours prior. I have been getting sinus tach for about 6 months, which the beta blockers control, and now am experiencing chest pains for almost a month. I am anxious about this test, they said that I would be there for approx. 5 hours!
Avatar n tn Adenosine is the radioactive tracer that they inject into your artery for the nuclear stress test. This link explains the test very well: http://my.clevelandclinic.org/heart/services/tests/nuclear/adenosine.aspx Good luck!
Avatar f tn Hi. I just had a stress test today with perssantimun (spell) injection. The dr said he has never seen anyone where the medicine worked that fast. I ended up with headaches and major chest pain. The dr even commented on how red my face got. My starting Bp was 132/62. During the test it went to 103/20. Yes 20 .the dr stopped the test early. They took my bp 6 times and it was always over 20 during the test.
Avatar f tn Yes, these are scary subjects. I think many people have "minor" heart attacks, that means, I think, that the muscle damage to the heart is very limited. I guess that's why they prescribed a nuclear stress test. That is the most effective non-intrusive (if you don't count the injection of nuclear material in your blood intrusive) way to learn if one has any blockage in the blood to the heart muscles - at least that's how I understand it.
Avatar f tn Iv taken a few Nuclear stress tests - in the past I can remember you cant eat anything or drink but water - I was also taken off my meds for 24 hrs before the test . It might be good to call the appointment center or doctors office and tell them - if im not too late at this ! pretty sure it will mess up your test. though some scan tests you can eat peanut butter ? guess it makes the dye show up better in the vains ? I never liked these tests ! as dyes in vains - so on..
Avatar f tn I wonder why you had a stress test, some symptom trigger it? In my case I asked for a stress test to get a better number on what my maximum exercise HR should be. This lead to lots of additional nuclear and other tests because I couldn't pass the stress test when I in fact didn't have the main problem it checks for. Sorry if I wander... bottom line, see a cardiologist but if you don't have any serious symptoms I think you should think positive, nothing is wrong.
Avatar m tn I recently had a nuclear stress test with imaging and while recovering and resting on the the table my HR was coming down from 180 during Bruce level 5 to 110 and that is when my symptoms appeared. I started having PVC's here and there then bigeminy, trigeminy, couplets and as many as four to five PVC's in a row. Of course I could feel them and this lasted for 10 minutes. No intervention done at the time. No change in BP either.
Avatar m tn resently had a nuclear stress test done and have gotten a copy of my records but having difficult understanding results the left ventricular ejection fraction was 40% and regional wall motion pattern was mildly globally hypokinetic the left ventricular is also mildly dilated with end diastolic volume 134 ml and end systolic volume 80 ml also my health is i had a kidney removed for a tumor of 7cm but was contained in kidney have enlarged prostate taking medication for as well as thyroid meds beli
212161 tn?1599427282 hi went to my cardio today , wants to do a stress/nuclear test this really gives me anxiety anyone have one and did you have side affects from the stuff they put in you to take pics of heart.
212161 tn?1599427282 Overall, a nuclear stress test is about 85 - 90% accurate.Your chance of a cardiac event after a normal nuclear stress test is about 1.62% per year for the next 10 years, better than a sampling of the general public. Normally, a blockage will show up once it hits approx 70% occluded. I know you read about people that have a stress test that is normal and drop dead the next day, don't get too worked up about that.
Avatar m tn After a nuclear stress test ordered by my GP, I was referred to a Cardiologist who advised that I needed to have a heart catherization done. He explained that the procedure would uncover and pinpoint any existing coronary artery problems. He also explained that, when problems/blockages are diagnosed, 25% of his patients needed bypass surgery, another 25% needed angioplasty, stents, or both, and the remaining 50% could be treated with medications.
