Avatar f tn Is a exercise stress test a good way to further study AAA as well as how my whole heart handles physical stress? Anything else about AAA?
Avatar n tn The other procedure the physician will make a small incision in each groin to visualize the femoral arteries in each leg. With the use of special endovascular instruments, along with x-ray images for guidance, a stent-graft will be inserted through the femoral artery and advanced up into the aorta to the site of the aneurysm". Usually, it is recommended to have a surgeon that has successfully done at least 1000 operations.
Avatar n tn However, a regular stress may be sufficient in stable patients or those with a low suspicion of coronary artery disease who are being assessed for exercise tolerance (for example, prior to undergoing a structured exercise or rehab program). If you are/were experiencing chest pains an EKG Stress test is not reliable and probably should have had a Nuclear Stress Test. The test provides a perfusion of a dye through your vessels at rest and with exercise.

Avatar m tn The presence of a palpable (able to feel) pulsatile mass in asymptomatic patients is highly specific and can predict AAA. If I palpated one in a patient I would DEFINITELY image their aorta with an ultrasound or CT scan regardless of age or risk factors. • Sometimes a normal aorta can appear pulsatile if they have a prominent pulsation or very little fat.
Avatar m tn The symptoms can also be due to aneurysm of the abdominal aorta (AAA). Usually AAA and heart conditions present with other symptoms (increased heart rate, sinking sensation, sweating, etc) apart from a pulse that can be felt on the outside. This can be diagnosed and treated by a vascular specialist and an angiogram not ultrasound is done to detect it. Severe acidity, gas in stomach and muscle twitches too could be causing a pulsing.
Avatar n tn Since posting I looked at the AAA website and found a printable list of autos (in a section open to nonmembers, too) with features that are helpful to those with certain conditions such as diminished vision from cataracts and glaucoma, and physical limitations due to arthritis, etc. I also read that cars with a digital display of speed on the dashboard, as opposed to the traditional speedometer with a needle against the dial, can be helpful to those with diminished vision.
Avatar m tn All bloodwork with exception of elevated eosinophils back in may which are normal now and the elevated IgE taken in September have been normal.
Avatar n tn Marked atrophy with fatty replacement of the teres minor, in keeping with quadrilateral space syndrome. Partial tear of the supraspinatus tendon at the musculotendious junction, intrasubstance versus bursal sided partial tear. No evidence of articular-sided partial tear or full thickness tear. Intrasubstance partial tear involving the intra-articular portion of the bicep tendon.
Avatar f tn t find anywhere in the medical literature to indicate an ed could cause or contribute to an aaa, and the last thing you need is to be feeling guilty or responsible for having a condition that appears to be down largely to chance. If I understand correctly, your aortic dilation is quite small--while it must be stressful, hopefully your doctors are managing your condition well so you can be free to enjoy life.
Avatar m tn the dubotomine stress test prior to the stenting said it showed positive for ischemia affecting heart wall in three places. EF was 70.19%. What was notable about this test was that I am perfectly normal at low and medium dose of the dubotamine. Maybe I should lust live like that - low and medium pulse? All the grim looking stats came at high dose with pulse at 120. That's high for an 81-year-old? It would take me a fair sprint along the road to get it up to that level.
552012 tn?1272855991 Hi milo_1, Your post is fine here. Congrats on your successful Ross procedure!! As for the AAA, given your family history, I can certainly understand your concerns. Has the doctor suggested surgery at this point? Or, are they waiting for the additional test results? I'm sorry I can't help much. I am not too familiar with treatment options for AAA. I'm assuming your doctor is being very thorough and taking into account your father's history. Hope the test goes well.
Avatar n tn I had a thalium stress test yesterday...I have a ten month old child at home..how long before the radiation leaves my body so I know it is safe to handle my child...I work in a hospital and radiation silent alarm went off today so Im assuming its still pretty high. I had the test at 1pm yesterday...is it s still very strong and should I be worried about exposing it to my family?? This discussion is related to Thalium.
Avatar m tn The only time to have any worries at all would be if you had deep pain in your abdomen or on the side of your abdomen, pulse near your bellybutton with back pain. Those are symptoms of an abdominal aortic aneurysm. But you don't describe anything like that and it is rare. https://www.healthline.
Avatar f tn I just recently was in the emergency room with chest pain, shortness of breath, nausea-my troponin level went up to 0.04, i have cardiomegaly, prolonged qt interval, and an extensive family history-both parents had heart attacks, father has a AAA, grandfathers had a stroke and thoracic aneurysm, etc. The stress test came back ok so do you think i have a potential problem or am i being unduly worried?
Avatar m tn That is the test I am having done monday. The nuclear stress test is what he said where they inject something in to watch my heart during my stress test.
Avatar m tn I am in the middle of a nightmare. My wife on strong narcotics for the better part of this last twenty years, was dropped by her doc because there was a reduction in his schedule. Anyway he prescribe a month worth of her meds. We couldn't get an approved doc in an approved insurance with the approval for pain meds. We go the E.R. ,Try City in Vista /Oceanside. Avatar n tn My neighbor has a leaky heart valve. Her cardiologist is doing an "ABA" test or procedure a few days after an AAA Carotid test but we cannot find info on any "ABA" test or procedure. What is it?
198506 tn?1251156915 Are you a member of AAA? I know that members can receive some discounts if they stay at a hotel that offers Triple-A discounts. Their website is www.aaa.com When my Mom and I went on a eleven hour road trip to Elizabethtown, KY from Wrightsville, PA we had a hotel booked through AAA. We have also gone to www.mapquest.com in order to get directions to our destination, AAA was also able to provide a lot of help with directions as well.
Avatar f tn Nor MRI was even discussed - in fact the heart catheter is the normal (in my experience) test done if the stress test is not conclusive. This has been the case fo me in past years.
