Avatar m tn I had a stress test and the results were: First degree heart block and left anterior fascicular block. what further tests can I have and what can I do to limit the progression to complete heart block. Can anything be done to minimise any stroke or heart attack?
Avatar m tn My primary care physician is sending me for a cardiac stress test. I was debating on whether I should ask for a cardiopulmonary stress test instead. I have difficulty breathing and shortness of breath. Also, I have low blood oxygen (High Hemoglobin and High Hematocrit) and low carbon dioxide. I know the cardiopulmonary stress test measures gas exchange during exercise. I just don't want to have to do both tests at some point, if there is nothing wrong with my heart.
Avatar f tn On the other hand if you don’t have any symptoms and only your routine ecg showed changes which you described I would simply talk to your primary doctor about him/her ordering stress test asap (e.g stress echocardiogram) and hold with pushing for early cardiology appointment until results of stress test is available (i.e if the stress test is negative you may likely wait until late June for cardiology appointment).
Avatar n tn Although they are not cardiologists, they have significant training in cardiology. My first and third stress test were performed under the supervision of a family practice doctor and it was interpreted by a pathologists. The second was done by a cardiologists in a heart clinic away from my small home town. The results of all three were similar. There is no question in my mind an internal medicine specialist is well qualified to do a nuclear stress test.
Avatar m tn m not a needle guy and I actually passed out and hit my head on the wall when they were putting the IV in - prior to the stress test. I freaked the nurses out. I insisted on getting the stress test done after that and the cardiologist agreed that it would be a good "worst case" scenario. So I still got up and ran on the treadmill for them. I want to say that I ran for 15 minutes. But they're monitoring you BP/HR etc so don't worry. They're not going to kill you!
Avatar f tn My pulmonologist said tests he did indicated need for echo stress test to rule out ischemic heart disease and referred me to a cardiology practice who scheduled the test. They even got approval from ins. co. I'm having symptoms and anxious (but eager) for the test. The test was to be tomorrow.
Avatar m tn the dubotomine stress test prior to the stenting said it showed positive for ischemia affecting heart wall in three places. EF was 70.19%. What was notable about this test was that I am perfectly normal at low and medium dose of the dubotamine. Maybe I should lust live like that - low and medium pulse? All the grim looking stats came at high dose with pulse at 120. That's high for an 81-year-old? It would take me a fair sprint along the road to get it up to that level.
Avatar m tn Thanks for your reply Ger...yes, after 27 hours awake and 9 of them with pounding heart and breahing problems, alone in a little hard hospital bed on my own he just 'swept in' and said "they will give you the new medication list' and make an appointment for you to see me in my rooms in a month and we will do a stress echo. I'll see you then. And went out to the next one. Seemed Ok but we are just 'sausages' to the specialists.
Avatar f tn Technical problems In any case the doctor is likely to want to try another stress test using another method.. Such as a dobutamine (chemical) stress test, or a nuclear medicine study. Most pre-op cases that turn up equivicol wind up getting approval from cardiology anyways, because its frankly debatable how effective stress testing a patient is at predicting surgical outcomes. Hence why i say its impossible to answer.
Avatar f tn Repeat Angiograms Re: Oct 11, 2008 09:11AM in the Interventional Cardiology Expert Forum I had a stress test, blood work, EKg's basically every test. All my test passed. They just wanted to do an Angiogram to see if there were any problems. That is when they found the blockages. My Dr,s were shocked to find them. I had 1 stent put in, and an Angioplasty in the other due to I need a 2 mm stent that is drug eluding, but it is currently not availiab...
Avatar m tn This episode could have progressed to a myocardial infarct, and you might have not survived it. A stress test in this setting I feel in inappropriate, as there possibly recently ruptured plaque which may be worsened by stress testing. A left heart catheterization would be what I would suggest irrespective of stress test findings.
Avatar n tn If you are worrying about your heart, you will get chest pains. Stress causes all kinds of problems in the body and you are subjecting your body to long episodes of stress. I would just have a Doctor check my blood pressure, listen to my heart and if all is ok, I would go home and chill.
Avatar m tn I am going to a catherization, becouse after my nuclear stress test, shows small zone of ischemia in the anteroseptal segmens and in the inferobasal segment, the ejection fraction is 36%,I am 75 years healthy woman, just only hipothyroidism, no chest pain before stress test, now I have sporadic chest pain ,I went to a new medicine doctor, he sugest to wait and be treated with medicine, I went to a new cardiology and want me to do the catherization, I am afraid for all the risk I could have.
Avatar m tn i have done all tests and all came back normal. EEG, EKG,ECHO,TSH, T3, T4, STRESS TEST 24 HR HOLTER, CT HEAD. I also have cardiology appointment in one week.
Avatar n tn Has she had a stress test? Has she worn a heart monitor and recorded those times when she was short of breath? It may or may not be heart related. But a start would be to see what her heart is doing during those times she can't breathe well. Getting an EKG done while she feels fine won't tell them much.
Avatar f tn 3 months ago, they told me my left ventrical and right atrium was enlarged, being that a pacemaker and difibulator was inplanted several months ago, they said it was saving my life. anyways they did several test that indicated this. two very important test which i think your daughter should get is an ep study and an echo, if there is a reason why her hearts enlarged these test will show it and there are meds that bring the chambers back to normal size.

Avatar m tn If she passed out wearing a monitor and her heart rhythm is normal (no arrhythmia), normal EKG, has a normal echo and normal stress test that eliminates pure cardiac causes. I would have to leave it to the neurologist to determine if they think it is neuro related.
Avatar m tn I just completed a stress test. Test showed an abnormality of the inferior walls. the Doctor wants to do a catherization. I am going on a four month vacation 4 days after this procedure. I want to postpone catherization until I get back in 4 months. Results of test showed medium risk Do I seem unreasonable to wait?
