Avatar n tn Usually a cath procedure is done after a stress test to open any blocked vessels discovered with a stress test as well as measure any gradient pressures and intra-chamber, vessel pressures, etc.!. Are you having chest pains that can not be relieved with medication? Pain with exertion and relief with rest?
Avatar n tn The countless EKG’s stress test, halter monitors, nuclear stress test would also show nothing. Then it happened I was told I had heart spasms I was in the hospital for 11 days I had a cath done and they were going to put in stints they wouldn’t know how many till they got inside I was transferred to a better hospital and they did another cath and told me they couldn’t stint because the spasms were so bad inside the whole heart.

Avatar f tn It is very strong at times. I have had a stress test w/ the dye and everything was fine....I have a heart murmur( nothing serious) and also my heart gets out of rythm sometimes. Avatar f tn A few months ago I was having some fluttering and abnormal heart beats that after wearing a monitor all checked out ok (PVCS). I have had all the tests, echo, ekg, holter and event monitor. I had a stress test 3 years ago, all normal. My cholesterol is 170 and my bp is 100/60. Resting pulse 60. My question is this...a few times over the last couple of weeks I have had this intense stabbing pain either on the left side or right side of my chest.
Avatar n tn The doctor said the left heart was okay but found a narrowing in the right heart which caused coronary spasms during the test. IV nitroglycerin during the test stopped the spasms and dilated the vessel. He did not mention any other problems and recommended sublingual nitroglycerin to treat the spasms as they occur.
Avatar m tn I have had an EKG and a cardiac nuclear image and stress tests which said the blood flow was normal. The spasms stop me in my tracks. My blood pressure is good, cholesterol is 180. I also have made another app with cardiologist.
Avatar f tn They ran echo, ekg, Ct of chest and nuclear stress. The images in the nuclear stress test did not match. The Dr said that they isotopes did not go to the front of my chest but he did not know why. He said it did not show a blockage. He told me to go home, take it easy and follow up in his office in a few weeks. He said he was unsettled that it they did not match. I am at a loss, leaving the hospital with chest pain and an abnormal nuclear stress test is unsettleing. Any advice or thoughts?
Avatar m tn Another cath 6 months ago after reporting additional symptoms w/ no stints but additional narrowing of several cardiac arteries. Problem: Following last stress test, began walking 1.

Avatar n tn I can produce a numbert of different opinions what is the appropriate heart rate and so on with exercising. The best method for someone with a heart issue is to have a stress test. A stress test is oftened done for the purpose of learning the degree of tolerance/risk one can safely do. The rule of thumb stated is not recommended for someone who has heart issues. You will be safe to engage in exercising according to METs.

Avatar m tn I had a stress test and echocardiogram done three years ago due to a high blood pressure reading and abnormal EKG reading. These were the conclusions of the stress test and echocardiogram results. The stress test and EKG came back normal. The only thing on the echocardiogram was the mitral valve chorade are thickened and/or clacified. There is only trace mitral regurgitation. Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with heart spasms. How safe or dangerous is it to take a long distance car trip - I would be miles, possible hours before a emergency vehicle could get to me - if I needed them.
Avatar n tn An Echo Stress Test or a Nuclear Stress Test, if the doctor is suspecting coronary artery disease. However, a regular stress may be sufficient in stable patients or those with a low suspicion of coronary artery disease who are being assessed for exercise tolerance (for example, prior to undergoing a structured exercise or rehab program). If you are/were experiencing chest pains an EKG Stress test is not reliable and probably should have had a Nuclear Stress Test.
